Byetta, Is anybody on it?

I just got back from my doctor, who told me I have now crossed over from insulin resistant to Type 2 Diabetes, but he said, he is taking me off the metformin, I had done this myself:devil:m a year ago because I was sick all the time.

He said, that he will recheck my blood levels in about 3 months, so I don't need to check my blood levels, that I am not to that point yet.. however, he suggested this Byetta because it has helped so many people lose weight.

He said I have a choice between it and a pill, that doesn't really help with weight, but it was totally my choice. He gave me the information DVD to look at and then call him and tell him what I want.

What I want to know is, if anybody is using it and does it hurt to inject???? :?: I don't want to really get into injecting anything, but he is a great doctor, and he said he really wanted me to try it, but understood if I couldn't do it. He talked about my PCOS and told me that this injectable is more likely to help me lose weight.

He said that people over emphasize that about the metformin, but this actually has been shown to help kill the appetite after you eat, and helps you digest slower.

Even if nobody is on it, and you inject, this is an injection pen, by the way, I want to know if it hurts?:(

I don't know much about that, but we have a diabetes support group here:

My DH is on Byetta and he lost about 40 pounds. It significantly reduced his appetite. He said it does not bother him to inject it. The needle is very small.

thanks for letting me know that. I wondered if it was effective as the doctor really made it out to be. I hope it doesn't make me sick like the metformin did. That was just bad.

I just hope, being as needle phobic as I am, and I am SERIOUSLY needle phobic, I will just do it.

I am glad, really glad to hear that your DH has lost weight, it gives me some hope. :carrot:

Actually my DH takes Metformin too. The Byetta has really helps him regulate his blood sugars. Hope it helps you if you decide to try it.
