Heather - I think we should nominate you for the reality TV show "The Nanny". That would give her a new experience to deal with.
Catherine - after today I must not have water in my mouth when I read your posts. I hate it when I laugh so hard it all comes out my nose. Is this humor a result of you being stuck inside or have I missed it? I can't wait for more - thanks for the smiles and support. Battle - keep on posting. It's you we want to know about. As for the plus size friend - oops make that non-plus size friend - will she wear size 20 when she needs 24? Battle I have to tell you every morning I am still motivated by the a.m. exercise conversation of a few months ago. Motivated but not moving - I so admire/understand the morning exercise. I am a morning person and would so feel better if it was out of the way for the day. Right now I'm using the knee as an excuse - what will I do when the knee is better? I really just wanted you to know the you motivate me daily. We're off for some shopping - OH BOY. Hugs to all Later, Carol |
Carol-I’ve had fatchicks tell me before that they have had fluids coming out of their orifices while reading my posts. I have no idea why. I was raised by a practical joker. I still check my shoes for oatmeal before putting them on. I warned my husband that I had a playful personality. I gave my boss an Easter basket last spring with a thing of soap bubbles and some Bertie Botts every flavor beans. She’s a 60 year old nun. She saved the bubbles for the birthday party of one of the other sisters who was turning 75, so I can be infectious. My dad said the minute you grow up you grow old. I’ve always wanted to be Erma Bombeck. In the book I’m finishing up, my husband reading over my shoulder said, “you’re not really going to say that are you?” Yep, I’ll say anything about anybody, especially the primate I live with, and myself of course, but I try very hard not to be offensive. Learning to laugh at myself again has been an important step in my recovery.

Well girls, thanks to my crappy insurance I can't get the surgery done. And the more I thought about it I guess I don't really want anyone messing with my guts. I joined Weight Watchers again. It's the only thing that works for me. I met some really nice people today and the leader is nice as well.
Thanks to everyone who welcomed me back, this forum really does help. I appreciate your encouragement. Meta- Congrats on the NSV!:) Great stories too. Catherine-I hope your ancle and knee get better without the need for surgery. I know what its like, when I hurt something like my ancle it seems to take forever to get better! hugs... Sandy-Bingo!! I'm a compulsive overeater too. And it is dreadful. Now that they know what to call us I wish someone could help us find a surefire way to eat normal again! :dizzy: Texarkgal-:wel3fc: you've come to the right place!:) |

Good morning - hope today will be a great one for each of you. I need a good strong OP day - they haven't been bad but I need to put a nice string together again - seems Heather's brat has been talking to mine - maybe I should go sit in the corner.
Everyone enjoy your day! |
:coffee:Morning Girls! Just stopping in to wish you all a great weekend!
|
texarkgal - :welcome3: Glad you decided to join us.
colneen - WW is a really good program. You CAN do this without surgery. Baby steps and patience is what it takes. Glad you are back posting with us. :) It's a bit of a cold day here in TX. Well, cold by TX standards anyway. ;) And we are in for some rain. So it will be a good day to stay in and do some things around the house. While I was off over the holidays I started a big organization project in my home office and am still working on that. And I have scrapbook stuff I can work on. So it will be a quiet day at home for me. Yesterday a friend of mine and I decided we wanted to try to go to the Billy Joel concert next Tuesday and we were lucky enough to find some good tickets on Stubhub. Looking forward to that. |
Annie – It definitely takes some time when you start a new schedule to figure out where all the pieces fit in. Give yourself some time! I am glad your visit to the surgeon went well. I am sure you will find ways to get the exercise back in.
Lindsey – When I broke up with my ex one of the hardest parts was leaving his parents! I really like them a lot. That is really cool that you clicked so well with your BF’s parents and that they loved the gift. My eating almost always gets thrown off when I travel too. Heather – I can’t have Kashi GoLean Crunch in the house. It is just too tasty. Catherine – Your DH is just too cute! I hope you get your pass soon and will enjoy swimming together. Deb – The site is definitely one of the things that has kept me holding on (sometimes by my fingertips!) to this journey. It is so true that it doesn’t matter how long it takes us to get there as long as you do. I have been very inspired to hear about how great you have been doing with your boot camp. Johnnie – Welcome!!! You can definitely take off the weight without surgery, although for some surgery ends up being a good option. It is knowing what is right for you that is important. I am sorry to hear that getting around is so painful for you right now. That can definitely get better with less weight to carry around. You mentioned exercise in the intro thread and just in case you weren’t aware, there are actually a number of seated exercise videos. You can find them at www.collagevideo.com and type in seated in the “search by keyword” box. Battle – It is interesting how people can be in denial about their size. I was the opposite. I always thought I was much fatter than I actually am. I sometimes wonder if I just ended up fulfilling my own thought patterns. Carol – I hope your shopping wasn’t too stressful. I do my best to stay out of stores this time of year. Colneen – Welcome back! So many people here have done really well with WW. You can definitely do this without surgery. I love my new Saturday morning routine of getting up early and going to the back to back Nia (dance) and yoga classes. I got home a little while ago and after I do a few more posts and get myself something to eat, I need to start cleaning the house. Hopefully I can get it all done quickly and have the rest of the weekend free of chores. One thing I had forgotten about is that when I am on track with my water and everything I end up having to get up several times during the night. Before I was sleeping right through, but if it means things are happening then I am happy to get up. :) |
I just finished my paper finally. I'm not happy with it, but I can live with it. I'm just glad I'm not the one doing the grading of it, because I'm not sure I'd give myself a very good grade. At this point, I'm just glad to be done with it.

Peeking back in again.
I can't believe it's December! I just put up the outside lights, and I'm putting up the tree tomorrow. Luckily most of my shopping is done. I also got myself two new cookbooks today (my presents to me). They're cookbooks, 5-ingredient 15-minute cookbooks, one vegetarian and one from Cooking Light. 5 ingredients sounds doable. |
Ladies thank you all for your warm welcomes.
Catherine - Congratulations on finishing your paper. It probably is better than you think. Thank you also for your kind words of encouragement. After reading quite a few of your previous posts you are a real inspiration. Colleen - Sorry your insurance won't cover the surgery. My insurance will cover it, but for the time being I've chosen not to pursue it due to a number of factors like other health risks and location. From one compulsive overeater to another, i know we can do this together and succeed. Xena - Your crappy weather is coming to me tomorrow. Sounds like a good day for baking so I am planning on making WW Pumpkin Muffins for my roomie. The Billy Joel concert sounds great, where is he appearing, is it a large venue like the arena or a smaller one? Nancy - Thank for the link for the exercise videos. I've been looking at some chair exercises on line, but I think I would be more inclined to do it if I had a video to follow along and this site is one of the more reasonable ones as far as price. I had what I consider my first NSV today :carrot:. Went to Wal-Mart this morning grocery and Christmas shopping. I do most of my grocery shopping at the first of the month, except for those perishables like bread, milk, etc. So this is always a big production involving like 15 to 20 bags full of groceries. In the past we bring the groceries home and Toni puts them away while all I do is sit on the stool I use in the kitchen and collect bags as she empties them. Well, today, she carried all the bags in and set them on the kitchen floor...the opposite end of the kitchen from the pantry closet. I emptied and put away the groceries myself for the first time in about 7 or 8 years!! Granted I had to stop, sit & rest for about a minute every 2 to 3 bags, but I was so proud that I picked them up, carried them and put everything away properly. I even managed to work up a sweat, so I guess it was exercise in a way. Just 4 months ago I couldn't even walk across the kitchen without being extremely out of breath so this is a big thing for me. Makes me feel like one bit of my independence has returned. |
Hi Everybody! I'm way too far behind to catch up, but I'll do my best.
Nancy Thanks so much for the book information. I will definitely look into them. I HATE going to a therapist. It takes so much out of me emotionally. I know I need to finish the work. There are lots of issues revolving around my mom right now. They're very, very painful. My sisters and I finally set a date for the burial of her ashes in Alabama. It's April 19th. It's been really taxing talking about the plans for the stone, service etc. I dread it. I told Andy I'd like to make the trip alone (taking my doggie Tia), but at the same time I want him to go with me too. I don't know what I'll do, but I have a lot of time to decide. And congrats on hitting your 100 pound mark. I'm very proud of you. Debbie So sorry to hear about your DH hours being cut. I totally understand. We probably won't be caught up til tax time. I was off 3 months this year without pay due to different health issues. Every month we just barely make the house payment. It's the only thing we're not behind on. But, just a couple more months and hopefully good health this year. Hang in there honey, hopefully tax time will help you too. Annie I'm so glad you're loving your job. Don't worry about the house. You'll get it done. Maybe you can put some music on and jazz around cleaning to help with exercise. It always helps me get it done. Lindsey Sound like you had an awesome visit with your boy friends family. It's always good to have the family's "blessing." Texarkgal :welcome3: I love it here. The girls are all just wonderful. What a great nsv you had today shopping and putting away your groceries. You should be so proud of yourself!! Heather Just want to send you a  Brenda, How is the card list going? I can't wait to get started on sending cards to my dear, dear friends here. For me, today was wonderful. Abby had a basket ball game at 11 this morning and her team won. The team they played, played dirty, hackin' all the time etc. The finals score was like 40-22. She has played this team before and they're so arrogant. (last time they beat us by one point but they had 10 kids to rotate and we only had 6-7) It's so odd to see 9-11 year olds being so cocky. So we were really happy to beat them. Then right after that she had to change her clothes as her school choir was to perform down town at 12:30pm , OUT SIDE, for the "Dickens of a Christmas." We profess no religious affiliation, but my child sang like a star. Other parents told me how good she was. Then, we had to run across town as the choir was to sing at Barnes & Nobles at 2pm as a fund raiser for the school library. Again, she sang beautifully. Other teachers came up and told me how good they thought Abby was. Naturally, I'm as proud as I can be of her. Then, we had to do the grocery shopping (after shopping at Barnes & Nobles). I had a wonderful day with her. It's the first time she and I have had a whole day together and had such a wonderful time. DH is sick so he was home in bed. SD was at home with him and my guess is she read all day. Tonight,.I'm making fudge. It's the first time I've tried since I was a kid & it turned out horribly. I am a "grown up" now, so maybe I'll be more patient with it. Food has been good today. But then, I'm making fudge. :dizzy: At least I'm not binging today. Hoping you all have had a successful day. I'll check in tomorrow. |
