Whoo Hooo! Off to a good start!

:D

Hi everyone! I first came here several weeks ago very depressed and frustrated. I read alot of threads here and got some very kind responses from some people which I am very thankful for. Still, I couldn`t bring myself to get started.

About 3 weeks ago, I came down with some kind of bug, and for the next 2 weeks I felt kinda crappy. Not deathly ill, just enough to not want to do anything. Apparently I didn`t feel like eating either, because I dropped about 8 lbs. I don`t advocate getting sick to lose weight by any means, but that seemed to be the little kick start I needed. I desperately didn`t want that 8 lbs. creeping back!

So I decided to start with a new routine, something I`ve never tried before. I decided 3 days a week, I would count calories, and the other 4 days I would not count, but try not to go overboard either. In other words, if I wanted a candy bar on one of those days, I`d have it, but still try to eat sensible meals. So that`s what I`ve been doing. My calorie counting has not gone as strictly as I had planned because I can`t decide on a number, lol! But I`ve been keeping it around 2500, give or take alittle, and that seems to be working. I can always tweak it later when weight loss slows. As of today, I`ve lost 16 lbs., and I am so happy about that!!

In the past I`ve always thrown myself into weight loss by taking drastically different approaches to eating, but now that I`m older, I don`t think that will work for me anymore. Now it`s all about baby steps, and I`m ok with that. :carrot::carrot::carrot:

I guess I better change that line under my name, lol! I can still use help, but that was in desperation, and I don`t feel that way now.

Great attitude, your plan has to be something you can sustain without feeling deprived and sparking a binge - youve nailed it it seems!! Keep up the great work!!
