ugggggghhhh...
I know I dont really post here much but man I've had a crappy day. oh my god the flu hit me hard 5:30 this morning. I had a tickle in my throat last night and bam, I'm sick as a dog today..its insane how quick it happened. All I've done is drink tea at work. Atleast I've managed to resist any sweets I suppose..usually when I'm sick, even though I cant taste anything, I still munch on chips, or whatever I can get my hands on. But no more. :) yay. One good thing. One bad thing? Taking Buckleys cough and cold medicine. :fr: :fr: I dont know how many of you have ever had it, but their slogan is actually "It tastes awful. And it works". Truer words were never spoken. Its the only thing that works for me, but it tastes terrible.. What a crappy day. I just had to vent about that. Sorry  Quote:
I'm the PT SeniorSales, since I've been there for so damn long..I'm going back to school to do my Master's though, so I doubt I'll be there for much longer. :) |
Meta – Congratulations on being half way to your goal! Now you know you can lose 131 pounds, so the rest will be cake. . .oh wait. . .well, probably not too much cake if you don’t want it to take TOO long. :D
Battle – I could really relate to your chair story. OMG how I hate those cheap plastic chairs. The funny thing is that our CEO, who is really tall but not fat, has broken two of our conference room chairs in the past year. It is a certain way he leans back in them and the arms just snap. Sandi – I really wish I knew what causes that click of enough being enough and turning that feeling into action. I hate how uncomfortable my size still makes me in many social situations – following people upstairs and fitting into chairs, etc. There is definitely in it a change of perspective that allows the future consequence of our actions to have greater weight than the immediacy of our pleasure of eating or not exercising. I still shift in and out of it. Where is Annie???? I finally felt like summer again today – hot and sticky!! I went and saw Stardust, which was fantastic. I love fantasy and I especially love when they are able to throw the right amount of humor into it so that it is funny but doesn’t ruin the seriousness of the story. |
I'm missing Annie and Ammi too! Jill hasn't been around a lot lately. Misti, I see you came back again -- where'd you go??
And so many more! Let us know how you're doing as summer winds down! |
Hi Wyllenn,
I phoned Annie the other day - I have no idea where she is! I left a message and she never returned the call. I'm worried about her! And Ammi hasn't been here in ages! I don't know where she is either! Come back girls!! We miss you!!:?::cry: |
They've both been logged in to 3fc recently, so hopefully we'll here from them soon!
Ladies, sorry to talk about you as if you aren't here, but... you aren't!! :lol3: Annie -- GOod luck with your surgery!!! |
Congrats Catherine and Ratkity on your losses!
Super congrats Meta on reaching your halfway point milestone. Yay! |
i miss AMMIE AND ANNIE TOO!

BATTLEAX, you voiced fears that I’ve felt myself, even if the exact experience was different. I sure hear you on what you said:
“I tell you, this is the kind of nonsense I cannot wait leave behind. I am so very tired of these kinds of experiences. Instead of having a nice evening and paying attention to the program, I paid attention to my fear, anxiety, dread, and shame.”Even every family celebration holds the fear for me. But look at you – You’re obviously respected enough at what you do to BE a presenter. You’re obviously an intelligent, successful woman. It will be wonderful to enjoy that roll without the burden of the other fears! METACHICK – WOO-HOO! Ohmygosh!ohmygosh!ohmygosh! You hit the halfway mark! AWESOME JOB!!! RATKITY, Holy cow, lady! I just noticed your ticker – You’re SSSsSSSSSSSSMOKIN! I hope one day, in the not too distant future, to join you in that experience. You guys inspire me so much when I see this kind of success!! CATHERINE, Do you have pics of the mosaics you do? Sounds cool! And the shopping trip sounds like fun! I’ll check out places like that for yarn. We have a division at work that works with the homeless, and last year there were mittens and hats donated, but no scarves. One of our staff, a friend of mine, has been crocheting scarves like crazy and is always looking for more yarn. When she started she thought “Well, I can do 12.” But she’s up to over 100 now. DEBBIE, Moving down in sizes is one of the greatest victories there is. Congrats to you!! DEAR TOOFATFORU, I have never ‘put up’ with you! My heart has ached for you, I’ve rejoiced for you, and I’ve always cheered for you – even if I didn’t post it all on the list. I’m so glad you are here, THRILLED that you’re feeling better and lost those pesky 6 pounds, and just a little jealous ;) because you’re several pounds ahead of me. Tread, girl, tread! :) BRENDA, Hello! And THANKS. You are with me every day, giving me strength. I just had a friend comment on my key chain yesterday. It is a beacon of light and I should have told you so a long time ago! I’ve decided to start using the bi-weekly doctor’s scale weights for my official weigh-ins, even if I am compulsively jumping on my own home scale. Oops – I’m late. C U all later! |
Stacey-When my boys were 16 and 13, I think they would have worn dirty clothes for months on end if I hadn’t insisted. The older one would come back from two weeks at Boy Scout camp, and all his stuff was just as neatly folded and packed in his bag when he got back as it was when I packed it before he left. He was practically encrusted in barnacles. My husband serves on a Provincial committee on disability issues, and they fly us all over the place for meetings, and the two deaf members of the board get to have interpreters go with them. They employ 3-4 per meeting, and they get all their expenses paid but a salary to be there. Courts and hospitals also have lists of certified interpreters they can call. It’s a nice way to pad your budget or do full time if you want to.
Heather-I have often said that with me, it was never the years, it was the miles. Wondering around at more than a quarter of a ton, I figure that my body felt like it was basically taking 10 steps for everyone else’s one step. I’m glad that you told us that Annie has been logged in. I know her surgery is soon, and I guess I was having some horrible thoughts. I mean if something bad were to happen to one of us, how would we ever find out? Rat-Plateaus have been a dark shadow following me. It’s as if my body goes on these little vacations. I will say this though, I really should have more loose skin after 200 pounds. I think the reason I don’t have more is that I have taken so long to lose the 200, and have had so many plateaus. Meta-I love zucchini. Tried it stuffed next time. Slice them in half lengthwise, and scoop out the inside leaving say ½ all the way around. Dice the zucchini up with some onions and garlic and low fat feta. You can add some ground beef to your son’s part. Scoop back into the shells, and bake in the oven. Kind of like twice baked potatoes. You can add whatever leftover veggies you’ve got. I’ve added carrots and red peppers before. I cook it until it is soft and done. Battle-I hate those kinds of chairs. I am a total pear, and get stuck in them. Once, I realized that I was slowly sinking. I thought that if was sinking into the grass, and instead, the legs were slowly splaying out. If I hadn’t gotten up, it would have looked like a squashed spider under me. It is hard enough to focus on your presentation when you are worried about your seating, and what people looking at you are thinking. Good for you to keep yourself together. Debbie-I just loved the Reuse-it shop. It is full of stuff that thrift stores won’t take that are perfect for crafters and teachers. There were bins of fabric and patterns. I found some great patterns in my size. We got several half empty boxes of Christmas cards that will take care of us for the year. I even came home with interfacing, zippers and some books. There were bins of beads, empty egg cartons and coffee cans, old crayons and markers, lots of games, puzzles, books and old office supplies. You can take anything you want for $2 or $20 for a year’s membership. We bought a year’s membership. I came home with a very full backpack, and it is an expedition sized bag. When I was in the wheelchair, I took up a new hobby every year. It was out of boredom, and wanting to keep my hands busy. They have crafters come in and give demonstrations. Next week a woman is going to show how she recycles plastic grocery sacks into crocheted purses, placemats and rugs. Nancy-Sorry you’re still hot and sticky. It could be worse, they are still predicting snow here on Tuesday. Himself says that he’s seen it snow in July and June here too. He never mentioned that before I married him. Valerie-I used to live in the first apartment over from the dumpsters, and so we always had first dibs when someone threw out coffee or end tables. Most of the time it was because the tops had damage or a broken glass insert. I either use bright colored bathroom tiles in different colors, or those new kinds of ceramic tiles that mimics stone. I do Celtic knot patterns. I have always used gun metal gray grout, so it has a kind of stained glass window effect. I’m known to raid dumpsters behind tile stores. They mostly throw the broken ones out, and I’m going to break them up anyway. I only use ceramic. Porcelain is just too hard to cut by hand. I sometimes do wall hangings. I did a double wedding band knot design for my in-laws for their 50th anniversary in July. My MIL hasn’t even opened the package yet. His dad is a medieval scholar, and he loves mosaics, so that’s why she won’t open it. My mom used to crochet little hats and booties for the premmies babies. I’ve got a couple of pictures. I could scan them and post them. We found a new dresser yesterday. Well, not new. I don’t buy new furniture except for mattresses. The old dresser we have is an Ikea. It was pretty, but basically the wood is that very heavy composite, and the hardware just isn’t beefy enough. The drawers constantly come off the rails, and the whole thing is out of square. Part of it was probably not put together right by the original owners. It has to go. I got a much older one this time, not as pretty, but it has great bones, and is made of actual wood, dovetailed joints, and actually holds more. I’ve got to take everything out today from the old one, and move it out to make room for the new one that a friend with a truck is delivering tomorrow. I of course had to answer questions from the hubby why I wanted that one. It was cheaper than most of the other ones. The poor dear has very limited real life experiences outside his little nerd realm. He had picked out the old one. You can just imagine me trying to explain why an older dresser, that isn’t as heavy, is better than a new one that is very heavy. I tried to explain about secondary woods and quarter sawn oak, and his eyes just glazed over. I just looked at him and said, “this one bad, this one good and make wife happy.” That seemed to take care of it. |
Catherine -- My husband would get that "wood" talk!!!

Debbie: big, big congrats on your size 26 purchase from Walmart! What a great feeling to be able to shop somewhere you couldn't before. You're doing great.

Hi all,
Congrats to all of you who are doing soooo well. I am slowly climbing out of the "oh my god...what am I going to do if I lose my job" dilemma (since the lay-offs have not yet hit me)...and trying to get more control over my eating. This weekend DH, a friend of ours, and I moved 2.5 tons of flagstone to our backyard for a new patio we are building. Tonight, DH and I are going to move the 2.5 tons of flagstone to its final home....or move 33 pieces of drywall to our basement. Either way...sounds fun, right? Not really...but both need done and both mean exercise. Yahoo!! Also, I have my meals planned for the week, and I think I am ready to have a great week. Annie, I think your surgery is Tuesday...so be well!! Real... |
thanks Valorie! dont be jealous though .. i have a long long way to go lol.. lots of treading and eating my veggies for me!
