hello everyone!

Hi all!
I am a definite 300 +, with the determination to do this right and get the heck outta this cycle I am on!

My name is Elizabeth (lizbits to those who know and love me- LOL). I am a 29yo SAHM with 3 boys under the age of 5, 2 furbabies and a fantastic DH. We live in a suburb of St. Louis, MO.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and having you help nudge me, cheer me, encourage me, or drag me (kicking and screaming) towards my thinner self (and hopefully doing the same for some in return!).

I am at 348 right now- which aggravates the tar out of me, since I worked so hard after the birth of my son 8 months ago to lose about 25 lbs, which I have then put right back on.

After a discussion with my doc, a nutritionist (free consultation-lol) and a soon-to-be dietician (my SIL), I have an eating and activity plan that I think will get me going.

I have tried several diets in the past, and am afraid of falling into the same trap my mom has- always looking for the quick and easy weight loss. So I am finally deciding to get myself and DH (who is, at 6'5, nearly 400) and our kids (thankfully still proportionate and healthy!) onto a better way of life.

Thankfully I am really healthy (other than weight), and have very few physical or dietary restrictions, which make sit a lot easier. My biggest change (and very first goal) is to come to terms with and stick to proper portion sizes - pretty tough to reshape 29 years of thinking!

So that's my story! It's noce to finally have a place to share the same struggles others are facing- people who KNOW AND UNDERSTAND.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

Liz - Welcome to 3FC!!! It sounds like you have a good home team working with you, but an online community like this where you can share what it is like to be 300+ can help so much.

Please feel free to join in on the weekly main discussion threads. There is also a monthly exercise thread where people track the number of minutes they have done.

It sounds like you are approaching things really sensibly. For anyone with more than 20 pounds to lose it can never be something that is a quick fix. We need to find something we can feel happy with for life. Starting with portion sizes is great. It can be such a shock to realize what an actual portion size is of something.

Hello and welcome! Hope to see you posting in the rest of our threads, and look forward to getting to know you. Thanks for the nice intro.

Hi! I missed this thread earlier but want to encourage you to join us -- esp on our numbered threads and our exercise thread!

I'm still trying to relearn my bad habits. It's an ongoing process, but you CAN do it!!!!

Hi Elizabeth

:welcome2: I'm glad you found us. I'm pretty new here myself, I've only been here about 2 weeks. Portion control is a very good place to start. I'm finding it difficult to stay within good portion sizes after many, many years of eating far too much. I'm eating only healthy foods now and for the most part, that is going ok. I'm trying to drink a lot of water but I find I have to keep thinking about it or else I forget. I hope you'll join us in our weekly numbered threads and get to know us a lot better. I wish you :goodluck: in your long journey. You're certainly among several people who understand how you're feeling and share the same difficulties that you might face.
