300+ June's Jumping For Exercise Thread

Welcome!

...To the June exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month
-- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

And you want to jump in, because one of the main reasons to be here is to track how many minutes we exercise as a group! In 2006 we came close to 200,000 minutes. I'd love to see us surpass that goal this year. Here's where we stand!

Jan 19,532 min
Feb 14,818 min
Mar 20,190 min
Apr 18,336 min
May 16,343 min
------------
TOT 89,219 MINUTES to date!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's continue to make 2007 great by more moving and shaking!!

ok Heather... I need back on the exercise bus!
Count me in for 1000!

Like last month, I'm not going to set an exercise goal. I did over 1,200 mins so far this month, and if I do more next month, good, and if not, July is another month. Not going to put myself at a set number anymore. :) Gets me too down if I don't make it.

My goal is 1000.

michelou 05-28-2007 11:52 PM

I'll throw in for 850

tehluckster 05-29-2007 07:29 AM

I'll say 800, but I'll try to shoot for more!

I'm going to stick with 1000 minutes again. May has been a struggle, but I think I can reach 1000 minutes in June.

LitChick 05-29-2007 07:26 PM

I'm going to try for 1200 again.

Obsidianbbw 05-30-2007 12:09 AM

My usual 800. Hoping to hit more this month though....

Misti in Seattle 05-30-2007 08:33 AM

I am going to aim for 1200

I really need to get back on board, so I will go with 1000 this month.

Since I have never, ever, made an exercise goal, I'm going to try again for the lowest goal I think is reasonable: 300 minutes. There's simply no reason I can't do 10 minutes a day. And most importantly, this needs to become a habit. I'll be at home--not travelling--for all of June, so there's no reason I can't post everday, either.

Heather 05-30-2007 06:33 PM

Welcome back, Misti!!!!!

As for me, 1200 minutes, which works out to 40 min a day. In the past I've done more, but for now, let's just try that!

TheStorySoFar 05-30-2007 07:03 PM

I'll throw in 400 minutes for June, doesn't seem unreasonable. :D

dogpal 05-30-2007 09:32 PM

Okay Guys. I will be short of my May goal by about 200 but I will make my June goal. I will do 1500 for June!
