Something I can do now that I couldn't do before
I kept seeing posts about what people can't do that they look forward to doing, but sometimes its nice to celebrate the little things you've already overcome or are able to do now.
Be back to post my stuff. |
Oooh good idea, I can;-
i) run, a bit ii) wear nice underwear iii) have a bath, comfortably iv) walk further & faster v) pinch hubby's t shirts! lol That's it, so far. xxxxxsharon |

OK...how about a "can't" contribution?
I no longer can see my belly when I am sitting down. It is now officially hidden by my boobs. :woohoo: Sorry..couldn't resist!! :p |
I can get up the stairs without my knees hurting
I can carry my groceries upstairs without difficulty I can see all the gauges in my car because I no longer need my steering wheel set at the highest setting I don't have to remove my coat in winter to comfortably use my seatbelt I can shop/traipse about for several hours without being in pain from the walking/standing I have energy left at the end of the day |
I can participate in a conversation about healthy eating and exercise without feeling like a fraud :D (AND people listen to me! ;) )
|
This is a great thread! I don't really have any to contribute yet but hopefully I will soon!
|
Ooohh... great thread!
Now I can... 1) Fit in a booth at a restaurant, airplane seat, amusement park rides and fit through turnstiles without fear of sticking. 2) Stand up from my couch without struggle 3) Walk up 4 flights of stairs -- I breathe heavy, but it's not a struggle 4) Shop in the "misses" section 5) Walk walk walk walk without trouble 6) Carry 20 pounds of birdseed or dogfood without a problem 7) Shave my legs easily 8) Resist food I love (at least some of the time) 9) Feel my collarbones 10) Put the tray table down in the airplane -- even in economy 11) Do yard work for an hour without huffing and puffing and struggle I'm sure there are more, but I have to run right now... |
Gosh, there are so many!!!
I can cross my legs at the knee! :D I can ride a bike! I can fit in amusement park rides. I can walk a mile without breaking a sweat. I can see my collarbones and the ribs in my chest! I can feel my hip bones (well, when I'm laying down :p) I can shop in the misses section. I can fit into my clothes from the 80's! (Not that I want to...but I can!) I can NOT pick up something that weighs as much as I've lost! :o :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: |
oh yeah, hip bones. I can feel them when I lie down too. In fact, I'm sometimes not so comfortable on my side anymore because I'm bonier!!
I am also colder -- I lost a lot of my insulation!! -- for the first time in forever I am kind of looking forward to things getting warmer. |
Still working on alot of the ones mentioned above but the one I love is standing in the grocery check out line and feeling proud of my choices instead of ashamed of the chocolates, ice cream, etc....Once at a grocery store the cashier looked at my purchases and told me that if I made better choices I wouldn't be so fat!!!!! ( I turned her in to management!)

I love this thread, so I decided to make this the home for my first post. :)
I can tie my boots with ease. Last year, at this time I could not. I'd end up strained and huffing, with little tangles of barely secured laces trailing down my footwear. Also, I feel 'lighter', and like feeling like me again is somewhere in the not too distant future. I look forward to many things, including going on amusement park rides again, riding a bike again and being able to take a luxurious bubble bath when I want rather than a shower (my tub is kinda small). Mostly, I look forward to the freedom of doing anything I want and going anywhere I want without getting in my own way. |
Welcome, Metachick!!!! Feel free to join us in the fast moving numbered threads!

Now I can
(1) Buckle a seatbelt on an airplane (2) Climb a flight of stairs without getting winded. (3) Walk a mile without feeling exhausted Soon I will be able to: (1) Ride on a roller coaster again (I love them!) (2) Jog a mile without collapsing (3) Throw out my 3X's |

:dizzy: Oh my goodness!:dizzy: I just found out this morning that I CAN REACH AND TOUCH MY FEET AND TOES NOW!!!!! I can't tell you how happy this makes me. I haven't been able to do that in a very long time.
Oh Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!:bunny2: :bunny2: This makes me feel like danceing!:belly: That is one of my physical goals, to be able to get out of this wheel chair and off this oxygen and DANCE!:belly: DANCE!:belly: DANCE!:belly: I know it is going to happen. I am getting around better and better. Soon I won't need this wheelchair or oxygen anymore. I just had a Doc appointment and he was very happy and impressed with my whole attitude and goals. He thinks I can do it too. I know God is helping me and he will also empower me to stay the course, so long as I cooperate with Him:val1: and never give up. Well Happy Easter Everyone! :egg: Your new friend, Gwyn:easter: http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar-ch...1/150/465/.png |
Kazz - that gives me hope! I am so hoping that weight loss with relive me of much of the knee pain and instability that has developed over the last couple of years. I have been near or over 350 pounds for over a decade, and it's really taken a toll. I used to take long walks for exercise even when I was really heavy and I've lost the ability to do that freely, and it breaks my heart. Stairs are an absolute killer, especially going down. I often go down sideways, both feet on one stair a step at a time like an 90 year old woman. I don't feel so unstable going up, but it hurts.
I recently read that for every pound you lose, 4 pounds of pressure are taken off your knees. http://health.dailynewscentral.com/content/view/1362/62 |
Gwyn - I know exactly how you feel! Everytime I tied my boots this winter I'd take simple pleasure in being able to bend my body down and reach with ease. Something that I could not do at all the winter before...I don't think my boots were tied properly even once. It's an awfully difficult feeling losing access to yourself.

  Oh you are so so right. Because I am now very real with myself, I have nothing to hide from God, or from my new friends. I have always been very felxable,:exercise: I find it very funny:dizzy: that I can sit on my bed and reach my feet and toes, but when sitting on the potty I have to use a reach tool! I am really looking forward to losing that thing for good! Along with my wheelchair and oxygen tanks.:carrot: It is also so funny that a year ago I would have rather DIED then tell that to anyone. Let alone the truth about my weight!:snooty:
Geee what freedom healing up on the inside brings. I give God all the glory for it too. He was always willing to work with me, I was the stubborn one. hahahaha I just love this support! I am going to make it, YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT! WE WILL DO IT TOGETHER!!!! We can do all things through Christ! Love your new found friend, Gwyn:val1: Happy Easter!!!:egg: :bunny2: :bunny: :easter: http://www.3fatchicks.net/img/bar-ch...1/150/465/.png |
