Ronnie -- Welcome! Please do jump in! We'd love to hear more from you. Don't worry about keeping up!

Lisa-- Thanks for the info. There's a member in the 100 pound club who's been doing a liquid diet -- Optifast maybe? I think her screen name is Buckett Girl, but I'm not sure I spelled it right. She's lost a lot of weight. Like you, she spent a long time thinking about it and preparing. She's also getting a lot of counseling of some type as well.

I don't think that is something I ever would have been able to last through, but I wish you good luck!!!!

dogpal 02-28-2007 03:22 AM

Hi Ladies,

Well, after a horrid few days, I'm back. I am still staying pretty much op. I did say to heck with it on Sunday but my to heck with it was still secretly watching my points just not writing them down. lol. I have met my exercise goal for February and then some and will post after exercise tomorrow. I spent most of Saturday night and most of Sunday having really bad chest pains. I was pretty sure it was anxiety but, on Monday my hubby made me go to the Dr. I had an adnormal EKG but all the blood tests came out that my heart was okay. I did a follow up with my own Dr. this evening and the news was not so great. I don't want to go into all the details but the bottom line is my weight needs to come off. I am very close to having diabetes. I have high blood pressure and I my heart EKG is not the best. So, I took all of my ww food diary and weight loss book and my exercise journal to my Dr. she went over them and said that I am doing everything right and she believes there is something genetic going on. With my Brother just passing away from a heart anuerism and one of my sisters having one repaird recently, I just found out about it, she thinks we need to shift gears on the weight loss and perhaps look at surgery.

I know how most of you feel about weight loss surgery because I have been having the same feelings but I have given my all to loosing this weight by diet and exercise and instead of loosing weight, I am up to almost 500 pounds again. I haven't cheated not one time in more than two months. (besides after my weigh in on Sunday but it was still within my points) so, I just don't know what to do. My Dr has scheduled me an appointment with a surgeon and I will be talking to him tomorrow to see when my appointment is. She wants to to continue with what I'm doing regardless of me not loosing weight. I am suppposed to continue going to ww because it is helping me to think about what I am eating instead of just mindlessly eating. Plus she thinks the meetings are good for my panic disorder. I am supposed to continue with my exercise too.

I haven't decided to have surgery for sure but, if I do, I really hope that you all will still be my friends. I love you all so much and care about all of the things that are going on in your lives. I wouldn't even think about surgery if my health wasn't so very bad now.

Thank you for all the support about my job and my bad weigh in. To all the loosers, a big Wahooo to you. So happy for you. To all those struggling, big hugs to you. To the new people, a huge welcome. I love the people here. They are all wonderful.

Blessings to you all,
Annie

Torister 02-28-2007 05:41 AM

Oh my gosh Annie!!!

You need to do what is best for you!! It sounds like your Dr. is really in your corner and if surgery will help you get healthy again and what you want, then that is what you need to do! Don't worry about anyone but yourself!!

We are here for you!!!!

futurediva 02-28-2007 06:01 AM

Annie, honey i am so sorry your having health problems:( i may be in the minority, but i for one, am NOT oppossed to surgery. there is a big difference in someone needing to lose 50-100 lbs, and someone needing to lose 200 or more. when your health is at stake, you have to do what is best for you!! you are young, and have LOTS more time to live and be happy, please think of your health. there are several wt loss surgeries available, get information on what is best for you.
I will be thinking and praying for you and your health. No worries, you will always be my friend:) and i am here to support you no matter what route you take, remember its all about your health:)
Hugs,
kymberly

toofatforu 02-28-2007 08:04 AM

Annie you must do what is best for you! i am sorry to hear about your health problems . please take care of yourself and do what ever you need to do to get healhy.

voodoo1 02-28-2007 08:43 AM

Dearest Annie, if you need to lose weight quickly, your health is at risk otherwise & your Dr. wants you to, you really ought to look at surgery. I know some people are opposed to it BUT I am for it IF you've tried everything else. To some of us food is a drug and being FORCED to limit your food intake is the only way forward for for some of us. Try looking on the surgery section of 3fc, I bet there will be lots of support & advice offered to you there. YOU MUST look at the big picture, your life, your husbands life & your health, not what others think! I for one would rather you be healthy AND ALIVE having had surgery rather than 'dieting' & getting sicker, it could take too long to lose weight the 'diet' way. Hugs & kisses, I know you pray, do you think the Lord would want you to suffer like this or take the gift he's given to those Drs of HEALING? Good luck, keep me/us posted.xxxxxxx
Welcome new ladies, Houston ?Lisa I start on Friday this week, I had to take a different plan due to the cost, travelling & lack of reliable babysitters, so it's the Cambridge diet for me! The lady who's coming lost over 150lbs on it, she gained a lot of weight after losing her son & understands about depression & eating, she's also a retired psychiatric nurse, so I'll be in good hands! AND she comes to my house, at my convenience! What is your plan, if you don't mind me asking? Good luck, when do you start?xxxxxx
Heather, oooh you bad girl!!!lol I LOVED the bit where you said you checked the additives & trans fats!!! Still, long term you can't give up cookies FOREVER, so an odd one or two isn't going to ruin you, especially as you took the remainder to work!xxxxxx
Xena, Rod Stewart, ooh, love his sexy voice. Good luck with your exams, though I KNOW you'll ACE THEM!xxxxxx
Emily, great on all that exercise, and with the whole family, you are so lucky!xxxxxxx
Sandy, I hope everything works out with the braces & things get better with the 'kids'.xxxxxxx
Mechelle, I hope you manage to get your salt sorted out & HEY you just moved house, 1,000s of miles(?) It will take time to get your diet back on track, start fresh each day & try to cut back on processed stuff, that is SO salt filled!! I am amzed at the amounts of salt in stuff which isn't really salty tasting at all!! It shouldn't be allowed to me made like that!xxxxxx
Kymberley, WTG on the 4lbs!xxxxxx
Ronnie, I will look at your bio, but good luck & keep posting, there is so much support here. What is the Dr's plan based on?xxx
Gotta go & do 'stuff', I'm feeling a bit happier & looking forward to starting my new plan, but at the same time, scared, in case I fail AGAIN! Oh well, as long as I don't give up.
Ammi, hope you enjoyed your nap & feeling more energetic!xxxxx
xxxxsharon

Heather 02-28-2007 08:58 AM

Dear dear Annie big big ! I want you to take the thought right out of your head that we won't support you if you have surgery!!!!! That is just silly!

It is NOT an easy option and certainly LOTS of considerations, but we are hear to support you, hun!!!

I also agree with Sharon -- please go to the WLS board and talk to the ladies there. There are lots of people who have been through a number of different procedures and can give you a lot of feedback.

Sharon, Ammi, and all -- I forgot to bring the cookies to work AND ate them all. I'm okay though. No regrets. Though not something I plan to do again soon!

toofatforu 02-28-2007 09:12 AM

does anyone know how much soduim we should have in a day? i want to start watching my sodium intake

Lilion 02-28-2007 09:36 AM

Oh our Dear Annie! Don't you worry at all about our being your friends! We love you and want you HEALTHY! That's the ONLY thing that matters! Your heart is nothing to mess with, especially if defects run in the family and you must do what is best for you! You are right, many do think surgery isn't right, but that's only when you are looking at it as a quick fix instead of what it is, a tool. Clearly when someone has tried, as you have tried and have an urgent need for faster loss, as you have a need, then surgery may be the best and only thing to do!

You are such a sweet, dear woman. We love you silly thing! When you are svelte and sexy - and most of all healthy - we'll still love you! No matter how you get there! You keep us informed!!!

To everyone else - Obviously, I'm alive. I've not been in much of a posting mood I'm afraid. We've gotten started doing some home-improvement that's taking up my computer time at night and office work has become increasingly overwhelming, taking up my computer time during the day. I hate stress. So I'll try to pop in and at least lurk when I can! Don't forget me! :)

slowmurmurs 02-28-2007 10:27 AM

Hello again! Thank you for the warm welcome. :) So far, today has been going well. I'm on spring break right now but I'm stuck in the dorms (I work on campus) and the dining hall isn't open. I think it's easier for me to make healthy options when I'm buying food on my own because our dining hall is buffet style, with lots of greasy food. There are healthy options available though, and I need to work on choosing those.

About the question of sodium intake-- my doctor told me to try to stay under 2300 mg per day, but I think it might be different for everyone. I'm just today starting to log my own sodium, because I have no idea how much I regularly consume.

toofatforu 02-28-2007 11:23 AM

thanks for the answer . i am retaining water so i think i need to watch my sodium intake as well

dogpal 02-28-2007 12:14 PM

I think because of the way I grew up, not much support for things, I fully expected to be shunned because of looking into wls. I read the posts this morning and the ones directed at me just made me feel so loved. I am not used to that except here of coarse. Thank you all so very much for your loving words, supportive words and concern. I feel like I have made friends forever and that I can't imagine my life without all of you. Thank you so much! I just adore you all. I know I am sounding sappy but I really feel blessed to have all of you.

Sharon: I got such a lovely silver Dragon from you in the mail and a card to melt my heart. Thank you so very much. I can't tell you that it came at the most wonderful time. I also got something from Nancy on the same day, yesterday. I just am so overwhelmed by the love and care I feel from you all. You are such a sweet hear and I know you are right about God not wanting me to suffer. I always look at things if I can help other people or not and I think I was really feeling that surgery for me would be like failing. I don't feel like that now after trying so hard to lose weight. Exercising like I never have before even when I was thin. I will continue to try to lose weight and exercise, who knows, maybe I'll start going down instead of up. lol. I hope the Cambridge diet works so great for you sweetie.

Brenda: Thank you so very much for the beautiful key chain. I just go it in the mail yesterday. I needed something like that so much and yesterday I got it and a beautiful silver dragon from Sharon. Did you make the key chain? I love it. It is so sweet and it reminds me of you. I should have know that we walk this road together is really how all of you feel just like me. That is why we are all here.

Bless each and every one of you,
Annie

sandybar 02-28-2007 12:59 PM

Just popping in for a sec.

Annie~Of course we'll still all be your friends!! We are all at different places in our weight loss journeys, have different health issues and health history. Your doctor knows your health better than anyone else. You do what you feel is best for your health and your family. Of course we'll all still be here for your support. Big big hugs to you.

Patti~When my dad was on dialysis last spring and summer after we almost lost him, the kidney drs and staff said no more than 2000mg

Lilion~I'll never, ever forget you. You're my ellipitical idol!!! Hang tough, remember we're here and care about you. I completely understand being in a mood to not post. Believe me! Lurking is still good. Post when you can. I always look forward to your posts.

Ronnie~:welcome3: :welcome2: Glad to meet you.

NotTheCheat 02-28-2007 01:06 PM

Heather – It sounds like it will be tough to have your DH away so much. He has become such a partner for you in your weight loss / maintenance. That was great that you took the cookies to work the next day.

Ammi – I am not sure if my ex has been making any plans yet. He is being really good about everything and trying to be really accommodating. I think part of this is the fact that he is hoping I am going to change my mind. He has said several times that the window for me to do so is still open. Your picks for AI are exactly the same as mine!

Torister – Congratulations on being 3 weeks on plan! TOM is tough, mostly because I often find it kicks cravings into overdrive. Hope you are doing ok.

Catherine – I am glad you were able to take some time to center yourself after the funeral. I have never been to the funeral of a child, but I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must be.

Deb– I am glad that you aren’t going to let the last two weeks get to you too much. You are really busy, and there are sometimes only so many things we can do at once. Good luck on the GMAT! When are you taking it?

Lisa – I am glad you found your way over to the main thread. It sounds like you are really prepared to start your new diet. I can’t wait to hear how it goes for you.

MsOne – :welcome2: to 3FC! I had a lot of trouble with my knees when I started, and they have gotten so much better. One thing I would recommend if you can get to a gym is an elliptical machine. I find that they don’t bother my knees at all.

Michelle – I have the same problems with sodium. It really affects me a lot and so I try to watch it, but it isn’t easy. Almost all prepared foods are loaded with salt – especially soups. The thing that gets me the most are the things you wouldn’t expect, like pudding (the sugar free Jello pudding snacks have 170mg).

Ronnie – :welcome: It can be so hard to balance dieting and school. Late night study sessions and lots of junk food around can be total killers.

Annie – Of course we will still be your friends!!!! Having surgery is a personal choice and for some people absolutely the right one. We have all seen how hard you have worked and how frustrating it has been for you. I for one will 1000% support you in whatever you feel is right for you because you deserve to live a fantastic healthy long life, no matter what it takes to get you there.

Patti – I have also heard that sodium levels should be around 2300.

I am looking at an apartment this afternoon at 3pm and then another one tomorrow at 4:30. The toughest thing is the idea of having to go to a laundromat. I HATE having to go out to do my laundry (and with the workout clothes I will have to go once a week). Unfortunately, I probably can’t afford the types of one-bedroom apartments that have washers unless I find something unusual. Does anyone have any experience with portables?

Not much else to report. I am having trouble keeping myself on track. Part of this is not wanting to argue with my ex and he has been the one doing the cooking the last few days. However, this is really not a good excuse and I need to say no if I really don’t want something. For example, last night he was eating leftover pizza and he really wanted me to try a piece because he liked it so much. I didn’t really want it, but I didn’t want to argue so I ate it. I only went over my daily total by about 100 calories, but it is the principle of it. I need to do what I know has worked for me, which is logging what I eat and getting my exercise. Why can things that are so simple sometimes be so tough?

toofatforu 02-28-2007 01:20 PM

ok ladies thanks that gives me a figure to watch i appreciate it. now i am going to rest awhile ..not feeling good today

Okay guys,
I just talked to the surgeon's office and I have an appointment for my a free seimar they give on the 13th of March. I found out I can choose between lap band surgery and gastric bypass. I hope I can do the Lap band If I decide to do this. I think it is very funny that I will have to loose some weight before I can have weight loss surgery. If I could lose weight I don't think I would be considering surgery. lol. The world is a funny place.

Nancy: Good for you to recognize that you need to be the one in control and not to eat things to please others. I am so proud of you and all the positive changes you are making. Who knows, maybe going to the laundry room in an apartment will enable you to meet some new friends! I used to hate that too when we lived in an apartment without a washer and dryer but, it goes by quickly enough. Bring a book to read or if no one is in the room, walk around and around for exercise! Hugs to you.

Annie-No one will think any less of you because you have to have the surgery. There’s a big difference between someone who has life-threatening medical issues and someone who is looking for an easy out. You have tried your best, but your life comes first. Everyone is given crosses, yours have just been heavier than most. We will always be here for you.

Lillion-just wanted to also congratulate you on getting over the hump.

I’m just not up to posting today. I feel like the strain of the last week finally caught up to me. I feel like I’ve thrown my bit. That’s Okie for being a “little unwell.” I am just going to take the day off, and start again in the morning.

toofatforu 02-28-2007 03:26 PM

way to Lilion i am so happy for you!Annie i am so glad you have an appointment for the seminar for the surgery!

Just back from the doctor. He's adjusting my meds again, and gave me something to help me sleep. I also lost 1 more pound. I'm down to 325....that was my 3/1 goal. It's funny.....I'm so depressed, and I know I should be really happy about making my 3/1 goal, but it just feels numb. Sure glad I didn't see a gain.

Hello All,

I am late posting today, it’s been a busy day for me. First of all Daren and I went to the gym again. I did two lots of 5 minutes on the Elliptical today and my thighs didn’t scream out to stop they just started to protest firmly lol. I worked out for an hour in total and got such a buzz from it. I can’t wait til we can go more than once a week. We also walked home, so great exercise today, especially if you add to that that I walked to and from the doctors with Beth this afternoon which is another reason why I haven’t posted til now. Daren rang me when I was out and suggested bringing Kebab and chips home for us all for tea. I happily bought that for everybody EXCEPT me!! I worked up such a sweat when I was at the gym, no way was I going to spoil it by eating that junk. I felt so proud of myself for saying no.

Ok so time to catch up with you all….

Lilion - again :woohoo: :congrat: on not only hitting 100 lbs lost, but flying past and being at 103 lbs lost :cp:  :cb: :cheer: I am so happy for you that the scales finally registered all your hard work. :bravo: my friend!! I am definitely doing the happy dance with you :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:

Annie - I know I have said it already, but just had to add my comments here along with all the wonderful messages of support you have had from everybody else. If you need WLS then you have it, and you know you will have all the love and support from all of us here. I for one will be getting ready with my emoticons to :woohoo: every lb you lose

I am glad you received those beautiful gifts in the post, they sure did come at a time when you needed them most didn’t they!

Ronnie - hi and :wel3fc: How much are you hoping to lose? You will have to make yourself a ticker so we can see your goal  What diet plan have you worked out with your doctor? I am on WW and luckily find that it’s the best diet for me. I am not into regimented diets saying what I can and can’t eat, which is why WW is perfect for me, I can eat what I want as long as I stay in my points.

Sharon - sorry I missed you this afternoon, I ended up having to take Beth to the doctors when I would normally have been online.

I have to say it, your posts are always so spot on, you know just what to say to people, this place would not be the same without you

Heather - you did exactly what I would have, eaten the whole pack. I am impressed that you even thought about taking them to work. You ate them, you hopefully enjoyed them, and now you move on. You know you can do it

Patti - thankfully as an Ileostomist I am allowed, in fact have to make sure I have more sodium than the non ostomist. I don’t like to have too much anyway, but I never worry about what I do have. I hope that sticking to low sodium really helps with your fluid retention.

I am sorry you are feeling unwell today, what’s up? I hope you will be feeling much better soon

Sandy - :congrat: :bravo: on another lb lost. I know with circumstances as they are you don’t really feel excited about it now, but you will and then you can do your happy dance

When I have finished writing this post I will be emailing so look out for my email :D

Nancy - that’s cool that we have the same faves on AI, it sure is going to be hard to pick an ultimate fave from those!

I am glad your ex isn’t being difficult about ‘things’ even if it is in the hope that you may just change your mind. I guess when he realises you won’t that’s when you’ll see if he changes his tune about it all. I hope he doesn’t because I know you would like to stay friends.

Is the reason that some apartments don’t have a washing machine because of the difficulty with plumbing and drainage etc? If it’s not then what stops you buying your own washing machine for an apartment that doesn’t come with one?

Catherine - I hope you feel more upbeat soon.

I need to go do some emails now, so take care all and I’ll try to write again before I go to bed.

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

toofatforu 02-28-2007 05:14 PM

Ammi i am feeling some better this evening just felt yucky for awhile kinda like TOM ecept i dont have those any more due to the treatments i had.
My favorite AI is Chris Sligh i think and as for girls i havent decided yet. OH I do lik Sundance alot too!

ZedAus 02-28-2007 05:40 PM

I haven't read all of the posts in this thread, and I only have a little time before racing off to work, but I wanted to make a couple of personal responses. I'll try to do others later.

Annie - I hope you are now convinced that we will love and respect you, no matter which avenue of weight loss you take. I am just very thankful that surgery is an option for you and that you have this chance for a healthier life. I have to say that I think you will have a FANTASTIC chance of success with the weight loss surgery. I have a colleague at work who had lap band surgery early last year and she lost quite a bit of weight for the first few months (30kg/66lbs) and then it all stopped. I believe that her problem was that she never REALLY seriously tried other forms of weight loss, so she didn't have that knowledge behind her when she had the surgery. It sounds awful, but I believe that she DID look at this as an 'easy' way out and she didn't really bother to look at the nutrition and exercise side of things to support the surgery. You already HAVE that knowledge and have been doing all of the right things already, so when you have the surgery, you will be SO much further ahead of many other people. I think that could be one of the reasons they say you have to lose weight before the surgery. I think they want you to already be working on a healthier lifestyle before you take this next step. My colleague does NOT like vegetables and I still don't think she eats much healthy food, when she manages to eat at all. I could be WAY off about her, but I can't think of any other reason why she has just stopped losing weight. She is already looking at having the band adjusted. I just KNOW you will have more success because of your efforts so far. I have probably hopped up on my soapbox again with this, but I have such a good feeling about surgery and its success for you. I am actually excited for you!

Lilion - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have time to go into more detail, and I don't think there is much more I need to say. I can just picture the enormous grin on your face at the moment and I just want to cry for you. I hope you take the time to bask in your success.

Take care all,

Zelma

slowmurmurs 02-28-2007 06:47 PM

Sandy- Thanks for the welcome! It's nice to meet you too. :) I hope things start looking up for you and you can enjoy reaching your 3/1 goal. I think it's incredible!

Nancy- I've never had any personal experience with portable washers, but my friend lives in a one-bedroom and LOVES her portable washer/dryer combo. It doesn't take up much space and because water and electricity are included in her rent, it doesn't cost anything extra. She has to do laundry every 2-3 days if she wants to get it all done in one load, but I imagine that's still better than taking your laundry out to get it washed. Good luck with the apartment search!

Ammi- Hello! My goal for right now is to get down to 250 lbs, although my ultimate goal is 130 lbs. My doctor suggested an exchange plan, where I eat 3 complete meals a day and no snacking in between. My main problem is grazing on snacks all day and never eat any actual meals, so I'm hoping this gets me on track. He also suggested keeping a food log and tracking my sodium and fat intake, trying to stay within the right ranges. So far I've been eating the right exchanges for about half of my meals. :sorry: I'm trying not to beat myself up about it too much because I am really trying... and regardless, I'm still eating way better than normally.

Oh, and I took your advice about the ticker. :) Thanks!

Greetings my sweet chickies!! I'm still around and doing very well. Don't know about the weight but I have lost 3 1/2 inches on my waist this month so I know it's moving. I noticed this morning that my weight aquiered oranatan fat roll around my face has gone waayyy down almost down to normal...YYAAHHH!!!. I was going to give in and weigh myself but then TOM came to visit and I didn't want to upset myself so I desided to give myself a little more time. I hope for a nice suprise when I finally give in..

:wel3fc: TO MY NEW SISTERS IN THE BATTLE OF THE BULDGE. I AM SO HAPPY YOU ARE HERE.:welcome2: :welcome: :dust:

CONGRATS TO EVERY ONE OP AND DOWN IN MASS. KEEP UP THE HARD WORK EVERYONE. YOU ARE WORTH IT.:dust:

AMMI::belly: I miss you. So sorry I haven't sent your box yet . I will by Friday.

ANNIE::balloons: my dear sweet friend. It makes me sad that you even felt for one minute that any choice you make about anything would make us (me) not contiue to absolutly love you no matter what. I'm sorry you have had this scare. You have been working sssoooo hard. I so want the lap band but my insurance just keeps laughing at me. They won't pay for it even though it would save them tons money if I could get off all my meds and endless blood work. IDIOTS!!! I have 5 close friends that have the lap band and a cousin that has the by-pass. All have been very succsessful. The lap band need to be adjusted every so oftern, but that is painless and quick. they have it done when they notice they are starting to eat more than they NEED. One friend had all the fluid taken out while she was pregnant (135lbs off in 1 1/2 yrs) and at her 2 week check up was 20 lbs liter than before baby. She is doing great. My sweet the most inportant reason for the weight loss before surgery is to reduce the size of the omentum that DR.OZ talks about. They can tell as soon as they get in there if you have been dieting by the amount of fat directly on the stomich. My friend didn't do it and the Dr. had to trim fat off of it to place the band. But all worked out very well. I know God will hold you close and keep you safe. I will pray for the Drs. wisdom and skill to be lead by HYis hand. Inform your self my dear. E-mail me anytime. I need your new e-mail addy please. xoxoxox

Hi guys! Boy – Some big stories came through the threads today.

Annie – As with everyone else, I completely support your decision to have surgery if you choose to do so. I have actively considered it, but I feel that I still have a few more things to try before I opt for surgery. That being said, you have to do what is right for you and what is best for your health AND your happiness. Who cares what others think?!! You mentioned gastric bypass versus lap banding. I have done a fair amount of research and they both have pros and cons. With lap banding, it is reversible, so that is a positive. Also, you can adjust the band to be tighter or looser, so I think that is good too. The only negative that I have heard is from a friend of mine who had it done. She said that the only problem was that it gave her too much flexibility, meaning that if she went on vacation or just wanted to eat, she could loosen it to make that possible. When I was considering that, I really thought about that because, for me, food is an addiction and I fear that if I had that level of control, I might abuse it. With gastric bypass, it is irreversible as you know. However, I have known several people who have done that and have lost 100s of pounds. At the end of the day, you just have to do what is best for you. I wish you well in your decision and either one of those options would be a good choice.

Sharon – Congrats on starting your new plan this coming Friday! I have not heard too much about the Cambridge diet, but what I have heard is that it is a pretty good plan. As for me, my plan is known locally as the “Methodist Diet.” The reason for the name is that it is administered by Methodist Hospital here in Houston. It is 100% liquids for 3 months, liquid and food for 3 months, and then slowly getting back onto food completely for another six months. The more you have to lose, the longer you stay on the liquid portion, so I anticipate that I will be on that part for awhile. You go and weigh once a week, get a minor physical exam, and then attend a 2 hour class which is administered by dietitians and behaviorists. It is a combination of a class and a support group. I am anxious to get started, but very nervous too. Like you said, food is a DRUG of sorts – an addiction for me. At least if you have a drinking problem or a gambling problem, you can stop either habit and change your way of life. You can’t stop eating though. Therefore, opting for liquids is the closest thing I know how to accomplish “not eating.” I have proven to myself that I really can’t control my eating patterns for any measurable length of time, so I am going to steadfastly pursue this. I AM DETERMINED!!!!!

Lillian – Congratulations on 103 lbs. That is truly amazing and an incredible accomplishment!!! I have about that much to lose, so your success gives me some encouragement.

Wyllen – Thanks for telling me about the other person who lost weight on the liquid diet. I think that preplanning and mental preparation is the key (at least that’s what I’m banking on). I am also seeing a counselor every few weeks who is very familiar with the diet as well as my personal life history and I think that will help. Also, the program that I will be on requires that I attend a class once a week which is partly educational and partly support, so I’ll have some support there, I hope. Finally, 3FC has already been a great help to me.

Well, I have written a small novel here! Have a happy day everyone and I’ll see you in the threads!

Lisa

LILION!!!!! WOWEEE YOU DID IT!!! We all knew you could! CONGRATS!!!!xxxxxxx
Shadie, how stupid are your insurance people? In the UK if you're over a certain BMI you can get it free BUT you have to go on a waiting list (for possibly a year) AND lose some weight to PROVE you are able to stick with a plan. Still diets work, eventually, but it must be frustrating for you.xxxxxxxx
Glad you liked the dragon, Annie, shame you got the Italian charm bracelet, lol. Still I'm sure you can find somewhere to put it. I hope all the reassurances you received here make you feel better about the possible surgery, I know if I were offered it I'd think about it. It isn't an easy way out BUT it stops you eating TOO MUCH, which would certainly put a stop to my night time 'snacks'. HUGSxxxxxxx
Zelma, great to 'hear' from you, YOU ARE MISSED!!!xxxxxx
KAtt, if you're lurking, hugsxxxxxx I can't think of how to say sorry about losing your nephew, but you're in my thoughts & hey eating a couple of cakes is no biggie, I'd be hitting the booze & chips (crisps) too.xxxxxxx
Ammi, thanks, I try to be kind but words aren't the same as a hug if someone's down. I will try & catch you tonight but I'm at the Dr's at 5 to get my TOM probs sorted & get my 'permission slip' for the Cambridge Diet signed & stamped.xxxxxxx
Houston, that sounds great, I REALLY hope it works. Cambridge Diet is all liquids for three weeks then a small veg & protein meal is added for a week, then back to liquids for another three weeks. Once you are close to your target a meal is introduced, then two, then three, weight is monitored AND regular Dr. check-ups are advised too. You get to talk to your 'lady' (or man!) about any problems and they should be able to advise you, most have lost twenty to two hundred pounds!! Do you have to travel very far for your dr appts & counselling?xxxxxx
Nancy, hope you find the perfect appartment, VERY SOON & that things settle down so you can concentrate on YOU, rather than worrying about others.xxxxxxx
Well I have to go & do stuff, got to get the place tidy for tonight when my 'lady' comes, can't wait to stop eating, even though that in itself sounds weird!
xxxsharon

Hi ladies

PATTI: i love chris sligh too! he actually is from my area, like an hour away!
Have a wonderful day evryone, see you tonight!

Lilion 03-01-2007 09:26 AM

Ladies I can't thank you all enough! :)

It means the world to me, really, all the kind words and cheers! I swear I was busting to tell you guys. The 5 minute walk from the Doctor's office felt like forever!

I don't have much time and energy today. Still not sleeping too well. I thought I'd be fine yesterday, but my best friend called at 10:30 p.m. and it looks like her divorce will be getting nasty and I'm being sucked into the middle of it! After that conversation I couldn't sleep forever. Finally took a muscle relaxer for the too-tight neck muscles and headache and knocked myself out but I'm groggy now at work.

I'll try to do some really good replies soon! I love you all! Thank you again!

The apartment I saw yesterday was absolutely horrible! There were 3 or 4 guys currently living in it and it was just gross. I couldn’t believe the landlord was showing it with them still in there with the idea someone could move in right after they left. It needs painting and cleaning so badly. I drove by the neighborhood last night of the one I am seeing tonight and it is a really nice little area, so we’ll see how that one goes. I have high hopes, especially since today is my last opportunity to give a 30-day notice on my current place for April 1, but at the same time I don’t want to get too worked up. I tend to over think and plan, and then also I sometimes add in unknown details beforehand and then have a harder time seeing the reality past my imaginings.

I had good news on the scale this morning. I lost 2 pounds and hit my 3rd short-term goal and a total of 80 pounds lost. I really hope I can keep things going with the upheaval of moving, but then carrying boxes around is pretty good exercise. I got myself a gift – a dragon pendant I have been wanting. Since I no longer have a BF to get my jewelry (not that he ever did really) I need to make sure to take care of myself every once and awhile.

AmmiUK 03-01-2007 12:06 PM

Hi All,

Not a lot to report today, have been pretty lazy apart from my exercising. Thank goodness I had that too or I may have sat on my butt all day lol.

Patti - am glad you were feeling a bit better last time you posted, :crossed: that you are all better now.

That's cool that Chris is your fave, he is a front runner for me too, but it's still too early for me to make my final decision.

Zelma - so lovely to see your post. How are you doing these days? I hope you are coping OK

Ronnie - great to see you made yourself a ticker, I love seeing everybodys' when they are moving down!

I don't want to contradict your doctor or anything because God knows I am no expert. But it seems that a lot of diets tend to encourage you to eat 3 meals a day and at least two snacks so that it keeps your metabolism going. I am just wondering if that is the case then if you only eat your three meals a day and have nothing else to eat will you have the good results the doctor expects? Maybe you could mention it to him? Whatever you end up doing I hope it will work for you. What about exercise, are you doing any?

Brenda - slow down and smell the roses girl  You are one lady who is always on the go, I don't know how you manage it!!

Shadie - :woohoo: well done on losing those inches. I much prefer the tape measure to the scales!!

Have been looking for you on Pogo, not seen you lately, I guess we keep going on at different times! I'll catch you for a chat soon :crossed:

Lisa - I hope that your Methodist Diet will be the ONE that works for you. It's cool that you and Sharon are starting around the same time, it will give you both incentive to hang in there when you are just about fed up to the back teeth of liquids liquids liquids

Sharon - your words are a virtual hug which although not as good as a real one would be, are still heart warming and comforting  Good luck at the docs my friend

Kymberly - another AI fan, cool!! I love the show and we here in the UK get to see it on Friday nights, the show and the results show are shown together. It's all repeated on Sunday night too if we miss it on Friday for any reason.

Sorry your WI wasn't as good as the one at the docs, it's more than likely just the different scales causing the difference rather than you having gained anything. Shame it wasn't the same though because I know you are trying to get your team right into that top spot in the comp!

Lilion - sorry to hear that your friend's divorce is getting nasty and that you are in the middle of things. Try to focus on the good things like your FAB weight loss, when you can't sleep, easier said then done I know

Nancy - ewww that apartment did sound gross, see what happens when 4 men share a place, YUCK. I hope the one you are going to see next is going to be far nicer and much more suitable :goodluck:

Well done on reaching your 3rd small goal by losing that last 2 lbs :cheer: :bravo: 80 lbs is just awesome!! Just 20 little ones left to go before we can all celebrate your 100 lbs lost. Pretty exciting thought isn't it! I love that you bought yourself that necklace you have been wanting, good for you for treating yourself

OK got to go make a start on tea now, so take care all and I'll be back later.

Hugs,

Ammi :grouphug:

Heather 03-01-2007 12:55 PM

Nancy -- I don't know how you're handling all this on the inside, but you SOUND so sane and sensible in dealing with all this... giving yourself a gift is a great thing indeed!!!

NotTheCheat 03-01-2007 01:27 PM

Heather - I am glad I sound sane, but I do have my moments. Every once and awhile this panic creeps over me and I have to spend some time calming myself down. Change is always difficult - even if it is welcome change. I am actually really excited about certain things, like decorating my own apartment exactly how I want it, and I try to focus on those things rather than the scary things.
