Workout Tunes!

:strong: Hi everyone!

I am quickly becoming a gym addict - which is so NOT like me, seriously!!! I think that there are several factors contributing to my unbelievable but totally serious enjoyment of working out:

1) The gym I work out at has a steam room/sauna that I reward myself with after a tough workout;

2) My gym time is my "me time;" and

3) I love putting tunes on my el cheapo (in a non-iPod kind of way) little mp3 player that are fun to work out to.

I don't know about you all, but that third one is a big deal to me... if I don't have good tunes, my workouts don't seem as fun, don't seem as motivated, don't seem as good.

It seems as though I'm getting tired of my tunes... and so I'm coming to you for help! I invite you to post some of your favorite workout tunes on this thread so I can maybe get some fresh stuff to work out to!

I have varied taste (arguably eclectic, even), but I really like:
Somebody Told Me by the Killers
All Because of You by U2
Shaking the Tree by Peter Gabriel (live version)
It's Your Thing by the Isley Brothers
Jump, Jive an' Wail by Louis Prima
Just Kiss Me by Harry Connick, Jr.
Mr. Brightside by the Killers
No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age
Stuck in the Middle With You by Stealer's Wheel
Switch by Will Smith
Tarzan Boy by Baltimora (yeaaahhh 80's!!)
Miami 2017(Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway) by Billy Joel (live version)

That's just a start.

Thanks for your help/input! I look forward to seeing some good tunes here!!

I like this thread also, let's see I have two differant playlists for exercise. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for.

Till I collapse- Eminem (I can only listen to him when I exercise)
Cowboy- Kid Rock
Keep Pushing it- REO Speedwagon
I will survive- Gloria Gaynor
You think you're a man - Full Frontal
La Vida Loca - Ricky Martin
Golddigger - Kanye West
I hope this helps, let me know if you need more.

Nope. Not AC/DC....Paradise City is by Axel and the gang, none other than Guns 'n' Roses. (Yep, a personal favorite as well.)

I don't have a specific workout playlist (yet ;) ) but I tend to listen to anything that's got a good beat/rythm to it. Oh...and is from the 80's or early 90's. :D Avoid all the depressing, mushy love songs. I like'em and all - but there's a time and a place for them - and trying to keep your motivation up and intensity high, you don't need to be sad! :dizzy:

I'll post my playlist when/if I ever make one. :D

Oh, you guys are awesome! These are all great ideas....

And yes, Lawrence, I agree that mushy love songs are the pits for working out!! It's the main reason I started plugging in... the gym I work out in is really cool BUT they play a local "top 40" radio station that has a mix of upbeat and slow tunes. It really does affect my workout!

And gailfan205... yeah, I totally relate to the Eminem thing. I actually like his stuff, but I don't envision myself listening to him any place but the gym...

House_of_Mirth: I just heard "Animals" on the radio this morning on the way into work, and you are SO RIGHT. It's getting put onto the mp3 player tonight!

Thanks, everyone... keep on rockin' your bodies!!

Too late to quit...

Music is a huge part of my life and I love this thread. I'm hopelessly stuck in the 90's. One of my favorite bands from the 90's is the Wallflowers. They have a song on their album "Red Letter Days", which is always found on my playlist towards the end. It gives just the right amount of motivation to get me moving. It's called "Too Late to Quit". Here's the lyrics, (humor me on this. I love to share my music with others). The entire album is full of upbeat workout type music, but this one really gets me moving.

Takes all my might
To find a hole that feels right
To bury myselfIn a deep sleep at night
I hear a voiceComing from the hillside
Says I'll show you the way
I will show you the light

Chorus:
But I'm tired
I'm tired
I'm much too tired
I'm tired

He's says I know where you were headed
And you're half way there
But you've got to be careful
You've got to beware
Some people want to hurt you
Some people don't care
But I'm never gonna give you
Any more than you can bare

Chorus

There's nothing left here to rise above
We're not talking bout that kind of love
You've got people here counting on you
Now's a good timeTo learn how to pull through
Sometimes a good idea
Just isn't enoughYou've got to do the work
Now get your *** up
There isn't really such a thing as bad luck
Yeah, but once I shot an arrowIn the sky and it stuck

Chorus

You've got to keep movin'
You've got to keep pushin'
You're never gonna get back
Anymore than you're givin'Life is for the living
You've got to be willin'
Asong ain't a song
Until someone starts singin'

Chorus

Here are a few of my favorites-

King of pain/sting
Dancing on the ceiling/Lionel Richie
Talk dirty to me/Poison

I personally like love songs in between my more upbeat songs I kind of zone out with memories so my workouts go by faster!
