I appreciate the sentiment of standing together in this time of tragedy, but I hope cool heads prevail and we all remember that there are thousands of Muslims living in this country who are our brothers, sisters, and fellow citizens; we cannot let patriotism deterioriate into internment camps or domestic terrorism or hate crimes.

Just my opinion.

We've got a show in St Louis this weekend. Part of me wonders if it shouldn't be canc'd. Should we even go? Would anyone feel like showing up and buying art???? I posed the question on a 'artist site' that I go to and most everyone was in agreement that we should do our part and not fall into our feelings of fear (if we do that the terriorists 'win'). We should all go to our shows, have a flag at our booth, some plan to donate some of their profits to Red Cross. Some show promoters are planning to have blood drives along with the show.

We're packing up, taking the kids to my mom tonight. Dad never could get on Am-Trac and now I hear they had a train crash out west. Rental cars still weren't available so he was looking into GrayHound (boy, that'll be a long trip!). We'll leave from my mom's for St Louis early tomorrow morning. I'll talk to you all again on Monday.

Wink Still Here

Hello Everyone,

I was so happy to see that everyone is OK. I was thinking of you when I watched the news on Tuesday. It is just unbelievable what has happened, but I agree with Sonya and hope people keep a clear head about those from the middle east who live in our country. I remember freinds of my father who had a rough time during the Gulf War, not only worried about family they still had in Iraq, but worried about how they were being treated here. Anyway.....

Sorry I haven't been around the last couple of weeks, the first week I just layed around feeling sorry for myself (seems sill in light of the events this week), then last week I was running around trying to get last minute stuff done. I'm almost glad I'm not working, it gives me more time to finish up the "little stuff". I've been trying to catch up since Sunday, but my computer is so slow.... yesterday I was getting ready to take it out and run over it, free or not it was driving me crazy. Only another month and K and I will be in the new house and his computer is much better, this one will be going in the trash .

On the weight front I was down one week, and up the next, and this week they didn't have WW on Tuesday because the mall was closed. I'm not sure if I'll go next week I'm sure I'm up again, and then we'll miss two weeks while we're in Maine.... we'll see.

The big day is only 9 days away . I can't believe we're in the single digits already.

RR - I need to go check out your pics, I'm sure they're lovely.

BFB - hope you're feeling better.

Jul - so sorry to hear about your dog. They are so much a part of the family it's like loosing a kid who doesn't talk back.

Rabbit - you are doing so well. You'll reach goal soon I know it. And just FYI they do add points when you reach maintenance so you don't keep loosing.

To everyone I missed - Hope you're hanging in there.

Default 2 days OP

I know it sound so silly, but I have had 2 days OP. And working on 3.

Rabbit and LBH good luck at WI.

Rabbit-No news about the employees and my friends uncle is fine.

Talking to a woman on my floor. Her brother worked right in the area that was hit at the pentago. And he and a few buddies had just snuck out to smoke. In this case smoking saved his life. She said it was unbearable waiting for the phone call.

I will post the dress tonight.

I went to the healthclub today!!!I lossed 1 lb in a week!!!I was so excited that I did 6 miles today!!!I am really anti-meat again for some reason, so I tried cottage cheese yesterday and enjoyed it..I cooked green beans with tons of onions, then dumped in cottage cheese!!!I really enjoyed it even though Refman turned up his nose!!THe people at work just shake their heads when I eat with them..they are still getting over the fact that I have given up tuna after eating it everyday for 2 yrs!!!!

They have cancelled the SEC football games this weekend with all this stuff going on...It is soo strange how violence changes the world!!!I was very thankful to learn that the UK played the National Anthem today at the Changing of the Guards at the Palace !!!BFB--You have a great country
Prayers to all!!!
A local boy was killed at the Pentagon...He was an only child and had a wife and baby!!!It is sad that everyone in all the world is affected by this tragedy!

Default Just to let you know

I will be thinking of you all today, your National Day of Mourning & Remembrance. The UK is having 3 minutes silence at 11am. It is just so sad, but I am glad you guys are all ok.

They are having a memorial service in St Paul's Cathederal and it is the first time the Star Spangled Banner has ever been played in the cathederal. Just goes to show how much of an impact that this has had on everyone.

Hi all. Couple things I wanted to share.

First, you might want to check out this web site. Brought me through the realm of emotions and left me feeling more at peace.

http://www.rhawk.net/thankyou/

Second, although I fear there will be many innocent lives lost in retaliation, I fear it is inevitable and necessary. Leonard Pitts has done a wonderful job of expressing the feelings many.

By Leonard Pitts Jr. Syndicated columnist / Seattle Times
>
"They pay me to tease shades of meaning from social and cultural issues, to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles the
American soul. But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears sting disbelieving eyes, the only thing I can find to say, the only words that seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this suffering.
>
You monster. You beast. You unspeakable *******. What lesson did you hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our World Trade Center, our
Pentagon, us? What was it you hoped we would learn? Whatever it was, please know that you failed.
>
Did you want us to respect your cause? You just damned your cause. Did you want to make us fear? You just steeled our resolve. Did you want to tear us apart? You just brought us together. Let me tell you about my people.

We are a vast and quarrelsome family, a family rent by racial, cultural, political and class division, but a family nonetheless. We're
frivolous, yes, capable of expending tremendous emotional energy on pop cultural minutiae, a singer's revealing dress, a ball team's misfortune, a cartoon mouse.
>
We're wealthy, too, spoiled by the ready availability of trinkets and material goods, and maybe because of that, we walk through life with
a certain sense of blithe entitlement. We are fundamentally decent, though - peace-loving and compassionate. We struggle to know the right thing
and to do it. And we are, the overwhelming majority of us, people of faith, believers in a just and loving God.
>
Some people - you, perhaps - think that any or all of this makes us weak. You're mistaken. We are not weak. Indeed, we are strong in ways that cannot be measured by arsenals.
>
Yes, we're in pain now. We are in mourning and we are in shock. We're still grappling with the unreality of the awful thing you did, still working to make ourselves understand that this isn't a special effect from some Hollywood blockbuster, isn't the plot development from a Tom
Clancy novel.
>
Both in terms of the awful scope of its ambition and the probable final death toll, your attacks are likely to go down as the worst acts of
terrorism in the history of the United States and, indeed, the history of the world. You've bloodied us as we have never been bloodied before.
>
But there's a gulf of difference between making us bloody and making us fall. This is the lesson Japan was taught to its bitter sorrow the last
time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us such abrupt and monumental pain. When roused, we are righteous in our outrage, terrible in our force. When provoked by this level of barbarism, we will bear any suffering, pay any cost, go to any length, in the pursuit of justice.
>
I tell you this without fear of contradiction. I know my people, as you, I think, do not. What I know reassures me. It also causes me to tremble
with dread of the future.
>
In days to come, there will be recrimination and accusation, fingers pointing to determine whose failure allowed this to happen and what can be
done to prevent it from happening again. There will be heightened security, misguided talk of revoking basic freedoms. We'll go forward from this moment sobered, chastened, sad. But determined, too. Unimaginably determined.
>
You see, there is steel beneath this velvet. That aspect of our character is seldom understood by people who don't know us well. On this day, the
family's bickering is put on hold. As Americans we will weep, as Americans we will mourn, and as Americans, we will rise in defense of all that we cherish.
>
Still, I keep wondering what it was you hoped to teach us. It occurs to me that maybe you just wanted us to know the depths of your hatred.
>
If that's the case, consider the message received. And take this message in exchange: You don't know my people. You don't know what we're about. You
don't know what you just started.
>
But you're about to learn."

Peace be with you

Sorry, I have more!

Well, does anyone else seem to retain 2X/month? I know I just started recording my weights, but I seem to retain SEVERAL pounds at ovulation, as well as at TOM. Good to know, so I won't get too discouraged. The retention weight WILL leave as quickly as it came

Anyway, I had taken my measurements on the 1st of september. I have really not seen much progress since then (up or down) I am now thinking this was because of OOM retention. So, I decided to take my measurements once again and was very excited! I think I am going to start a measurement thread to track my progress - PLEASE JOIN ME!

Take care

Sonya Yeay being OP all week and drinking H2O! Yeay! 3 lb loss.
Rabbit Another 1.4 Congrats! You have been working so hard! Way to go (also on journaling, miles, H2O...WOW). Have a great trip! Where are you off to?
Juldiet I hope you are moving through this difficult time. Hope your dad made it home. Mine has been stuck in Atlanta all week, but should be landing at Logan any minute. Congrats on the Loss!
Pyria 2 days OP 2 miles You go! My thoughts go out to you and your missing coworkers.
RR Thought about going to NY as well. Really can't as we have 2 Major confrences in October. Congrats on the Loss!
Tech alum WOW! 7 days?!? Hope you are taking time out from the madness of planning to ENJOY some of this!
LBH 2.6! Woohoo! You can make that goal!

Hi All,

Rabbit- Congrats on 11 days OP!! Now, you're going to be out of town, just remember, you want to beat that 16 day record!! No messing up!!

BFB- Thanks for that link! I'm adding it to my signature.

DH took me to Cracker Barrel last night for dinner, we haven't been there in months. Of course I totally pigged out...adding pts. in my head as I did! It was kind of nice though, they had a moment of silence at 7:00...we got there at 6:30. They put a little votive candle on everyone's table and told us that they would be having a moment of silence at 7:00 and someone would come and light our candle. It was weird though, to have everyone stop serving, eating, talking, even most of the kids were quiet!!

When we got home, I lit a candle and put it in the kitchen window. DH has a flag...if a '76 flag...but a flag, that he hung in our bedroom window, with a little lantern behind it. Now when you look at our apartment from the outside, you see the candle in one window and the flag lit up in the other. I think we will continue to do this.

RR/Tech- Those words would be I Don't Care! That 's what you need to remind yourself as you're about to freak out over something!! In the end, you will be married and happy, so if something, or everything for that matter, goes wrong, don't worry about it!!

RR- LOL, why did you give up tunafish?! I know you used to eat it everyday!! Did you just suddenly get sick of it? That happened to me with Mac & Cheese when I was a nanny...after eating it everyday for lunch, and sometimes dinner too, I couldn't even look at it for about a year!! When I first read cottage cheese in green beans, I thought, OK, not too bad, but then I started to imagine what it tasted like and the image wasn't good!! Maybe some day...

Did you all see the interview on CBS with the CEO of Cantor Fiztgerald?! My God, the man was a mess. He has not found 1 of his employees, 700 out of 1000 employees were working there and none of them made it out!! They were on the top floors. He was bringing his 5 y/o son to his first day of Kindergarten, that's why he was late. He was grabbing people on their way out, asking them what floor they were on, he got as high as 91st, that was it. He was just completely distraught.

Jul- Congrats on reaching your CD goal!! Hope things go well at the show for you. I think it's a good idea to try and keep things as normal as possible. The less stressed out we are, or show ourselves to be, the better.

DH has been pretty stressed out this week. He's a volunteer firefighter and he's very upset about all the missing/probably dead firefighters. His neck is stiff, which he thought he just twisted wrong in bed, but is now wondering if it is stress related, because it's started Wednesday AM. It's just soo true what they say about the bond firefighters have.

Pryia- Still waiting for the page number of that dress!!

I am 6 pts. over for the week so far, and I was thinking of trying to make them up today, so I could say I had an OP week, but we're going out to eat with DH's parents tonight, and it's gonna be rough. Don't think I'll be able to get a chicken sandwich wherever they take us!!

Anyway, I've got cleaning to do before dinner tonight, have a nice day all.

me again

Bailey - that was a great article - thanks for sharing! I will be going to Nashville to open a store.

I know that I have been saying God Bless the USA and how proud I am to be American - which I am - but I hope that didn't sound bad to our foreign friends. I have been so touched by all the shows of support from all around the world. It has really meant a lot to everyone.

Lauren - I saw that interview - how tragic. There are so many searching, it is heart wrenching. We have flags out also. Good luck on your dinner out.
