Week of May 21st

:carrot: :carrot: Graduation and party is over!! :carrot: :carrot: It was a long and tiring day yesterday. I had two pieces of regular chocolate cake and two pieces of diabetic cake  I was celebrating! The Baccalariate (sp?) and Commencement were both very nice. I had an open house after the commencement and it went smoothly.

Now I am officially: Lisa McCartney, BA How cool is that. I have more to say but not a lot of time to type, so I will tell you all later.

Good Morning Everyone!

Back later, just wanted to sticky the thread!

OK, I'm back. Last night DH and I got to go out by ourselves! It was awesome. I went totally off my diet. We had a gift certificate for The Melting Pot (it's a fondue restraunt) and it was a lot of fun. I wasn't crazy about the cheese fondue, but it was made with a cherry brandy and that's probably what was yucky to me. The entree was good, but cooking it yourself was getting old by the time we were done! The dessert was bliss! I don't want to spam you with food porn, just know that it was awesome! I wouldn't take my blood sugar when I got home, I just didn't want to know the damage!

We are hanging out not doing much today. DH is going to mow and I'm going to head out shopping in a bit. I'm looking for a girly diaper bag. I haven't had much luck so far. The one I really liked is $85. That's just too much money.

I hope y'all are all off having a great Sunday!

LBH 05-21-2006 02:01 PM

Hi All,

Quiet weekend around here, didn't get much sleep Friday night, so we lazed around most of yesterday. Slept better last night, but we wasted the AM, when it was sunny, and not DH is sleeping on the sofa and I"m wishing I was sleeping. Robby's been napping since around 12:30, and Peter's full of energy. We do HAVE to go out to the garage and clean the attic out though.

mamabear272 05-21-2006 10:10 PM

Hi all! It's been crazy! BIL is doing better. Had a second episode but seems to be recovering from it. He has to do PT and it will be a long hard road but he will make it through...that's just the kind of person he is. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes!

Lisa!!! Congrats!! It's all over, you college grad you! :woo: Can't wait to hear all the details.

Stevi, I love Hemorrhage (In My Hands) (the Fuel song) and I agree...could totally see Chris with them! I love rock! And good for you resisting at the RF. :carrot:

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I gained this week. .4 but I've been told that with big stress your body tends to go into fight or flight type mode and hangs on to the weight. I was on plan all week and even upped my water to 96 oz per day. We'll see how this week goes. Make it a great week everyone!

Stevi-rocks 05-22-2006 10:26 PM

Hello ladies!
CONGRATULATIONS LISA!!! :D Sunday was relatively uneventful. Went furniture shopping ( which was loooooong overdue) Got a nice sectional and chaise lounge, couple tables. Its a bit of a pain getting rid of the old stuff though. CAlled salvation army, they can't get it til the 1st. New stuff arrives on the 26th. Goodwill doesn't pick up, CHOC is out of business. I'm gonna throw it out in the yard!! J/K. Nobody wants my icky old couches...:( My scale is smokin' crack or somethin'. I waited to weigh til this morning. With baited breath I read...up 1lb. Damn it! I try again. Down 2lbs. What the ?? down 1.5lbs....down 1.5lbs again......up 3lbs!!!! Ok bite me scale. You suck and are OUTTA HERE! I bought the damn thing bout 4 months ago while still preggers soo its not old or anything just crappy. I go to the Dr. tomorrow so we shall see then! My neck is killing me again. 2 years ago my then Fiance' had to rush me to the ER. I couldn't move my head. It has stuck positioned very far to the right. The ER Dr's had no explaination for it. Gave me a shot of valium and a vicodin (sp?) scrip and told me not to move much. It eventually subsided but has been getting tingley ever since. This is the first time its hurt so much again. Enough of my blabber....

Molly, Glad to here your BIL is doing better.
Karen,~~Get the bag~~~get the bag~~~get the bag~~~:s:

Later gaters!

LBH 05-23-2006 09:07 AM

Hi All,

Stevi, NO, it's Karen, not me that's preggo!! I have Scottish blood in me, I could NEVER spend that much on a diaper bag! :lol3: I have a Land's End one that DH's aunt gave us. It's a backpack and i love it...but I would never have spent the money on it!
Isn't it great getting new furniture? Especially when the kids decide to write on the new sofa with markers! :tantrum: (At least they were washable!)
Sounds like you need a better scale! I love my Tanita/Jenny Craig one.
Could the neck problem be a pinched nerve?? My DH had that in his elbow and they did some electronic thing, like they charged him up? I'm totally not explaining this right! Anyway, it did the trick. I hope it's nothing serious!

Molly, Glad to hear BIL is doing better. Sorry about the gain, but I'm sure it's just stress.

Ms. BA, So any good jobs out there? How far is Cinn. from you?

Hope everyone is having a good week! I had a gain this week...that's what happens when you lose a few lbs. and get cocky about it! :o So I am back on track and planning my meals this week.

lppennington 05-23-2006 09:22 AM

Thank you to everyone. Lauren, Cincy is about 4 - 4 1/2 hours south of us. I had an interview in Toledo yesterday, I believe that it was around where Molly lives (I think). They had over 200 applicants, interviewed 25 - 30 and were going to call back 5 -6. I should know something next week.

LBH 05-23-2006 10:42 AM

Wow, that's a lot of applicants and interviewees! What kind of job are you now qualified to get?

lppennington 05-23-2006 10:53 AM

I have a BA in Business Management and also a BA in Marketing. I am trying for marketing positions. In a year or two I want to go on and get an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. (I need the practical experience, though)

Lisa

KarenK 05-23-2006 11:30 AM

Hello Everyone,

Lisa: Congratulations!! And...Good Luck! on the interview. I hope you find something soon.

I will take over countdown duties now...27 days until Cassie arrives! I finally started doing some serious getting ready for her. Alex helped me move his clothes into a chest of drawers from the changing table yesterday. Then I washed all her clothes that were not hanging. I still have to get the box of crocheted/knitted stuff down from the attic and the car seat so I can wash all that. And her hanging stuff. Yep, she has a lot!

Stevie: Ouch on the neck. Sounds like torticu ...oh darn, I can't remember how to spell it right now. One of the muscles on the side/front of your neck contracts and it pulls your head to the side like that. Most commonly occurs is young (like teenage) guys. Can't remember why now. Go get it checked! Especially since you are having tingling.

Lauren: Get back on the wagon! You are doing so well, don't give up now!

Mama: Glad that your BIL is better. I hope he is getting therapy to help! So says the former OT!

Hope y'all are having an awesome day!

mamabear272 05-23-2006 11:59 AM

UGH Lauren. I know what you mean. I have done that a few times. I am trying so hard not to do it again!! I posted a printable calendar on the fridge and I write my weight on it every week and I'm hoping that will keep me honest!

I also would not spend that much on a diaper bag. Not more than $30! The one I have now is a small one that I paid $13 for! I'm a stingy one too Lauren.

Stevi, have you had any tests done? I used to work for neurosurgeons. It could be a slipped disc. Good luck at the doc.

Karen, he is. And even doing to when the PT's aren't there! Good boy. LOL

I'm off for now. I have an extra kid today and she'll be here soon! Make it a great day everyone!

Stevi-rocks 05-23-2006 04:19 PM

I found the Kitty!!!

Hello again....
I'm suck a dork!:o Sorry Lauren but I knew I'd do it eventually. Its bcuz your both moderators:dizzy: Our cat has been escaping recently. He would never go very far but we had already lost one and he has health issues so he was strictly inside. Well I thought why not let him play with the other kitties for a bit.....He got lost. Out all night. I found him this afternoon three streets over on a neighbors porch. DH was gonna kill me, he loves that cat and spent major $$ saving him...PHEW! Doc says it sounds like muscle spasms referred me to a physical therapist. For now do hot and cold compresses. Oh joy.:dz: Good news though!! I lost two more pounds!!!! Yippe skippee!! (that smiley just killed me!) I'll get the names straight eventually in the mean time I appologize in advance!:D

LBH 05-23-2006 04:34 PM

Stevi, Congrats on the loss!!! :cheer: You know, if you post from the "Quick Reply", you just have to scroll back up to see who you're responding to. If you "Go Advanced", you can still scroll down from that page to see who you're replying to. The only time it gets confusing is if you have to go back a page, because then you'll lose whatever you started typing. In that case, I usually open a new IE window and work it that way...KWIM?

Hey Lisa, my recruiter sent me an email today with an opening with a marketing company...if you wanna move to Jersey! :lol3:

lppennington 05-24-2006 08:40 AM

Where at in Jersey? Are there any good business schools around. Remember I am looking to move on to grad school. (I am mostly kidding, but if I could get that info.)

LBH 05-24-2006 08:48 AM

Morris County. It's Northern NJ. I'm sure there's some schools around, I just don't know off hand. I'll see what I can find out...it's slow today!

LBH 05-24-2006 02:41 PM

I don't have any experience - which stinks! It sounds like it would be fun, they would have to train me, and most companies don't want to do that.

Thanks anyways.

LBH 05-24-2006 10:14 PM

Lisa, bummer...

WOOHOO...SOUL PATROL!!!! I'm soooo excited for Taylor!!!!!

KarenK 05-25-2006 09:06 AM

Good morning everyone!

Getting ready for a playdate here. The little boy who's coming over isn't very good at sharing so it will be such a fun hour! Not that Alex is perfect at it, but he's a lot better. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.

Lisa: You should go ahead and apply! You never know, they may be willing to train. Good luck.

26 days!

lppennington 05-25-2006 04:53 PM

Hello all, I was just wondering if any of you had plans for the upcoming holiday? I personally do not.

LBH 05-26-2006 08:25 AM

Nope, just clean! We were gonna try and go down the shore for a day, but it's not happening. MIL's bday is Saturday, so we'll probably go over there for the afternoon and dinner...personally I'd rather go down the shore!

DH's firm has an office space that they use as warehouse space to store some old files. They are giving up the space, so DH has been over there archiving the boxes to go to the other warehouse. There's a fridge and a couple credenzas in the conference rooms that are tagged for trash, so DH & I are taking them. The fridge will be a good extra for the garage. One of the credenzas will go in our living room for toy storage, with the TV on top. We don't think the other one will fit. It will be good though, because they have doors and they're low, just 2 shelves. We have to go pick them up tonight though.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

KarenK 05-26-2006 08:34 AM

No special plans here. There's a Cinema Cafe here (Lauren: Dunellen) that we are going to try out. It's 22.75 for two movie tickets a large pizza and a pitcher of soda. And Alex's ticket will be $4. We think that "Over The Hedge" is playing, but we have to find out for sure. I think it will be fun and that Alex will like it.

We might go up to the resort in PA for a little golf and hang out at the lake. We will have to see how things go.

Lauren: Cool on the furniture and stuff. Have fun cleaning!! :dizzy:

Hope everyone is having a super day.

mamabear272 05-26-2006 09:21 AM

No real plans here. We'll probably have mom, mil, sister, and neice over for a cook out on Monday. It is supposed to be beautiful here. I will do chicken for me (and maybe mil since she started ww too) and burgers and dogs for everyone else. And of course lots of veggies and maybe a fruit salad. Lots of healthy stuff though. That's the advantage of having things at my house. I choose the menu. :)

Karen, Ricky is the one not so good at sharing. I just discovered that he has no social skills when I babysat another child (2 yo). He wasn't so good about sharing his toys. I had a number for a play group for him since about January and finally called the other day. It's called mom's mornign out. It is every Tuesday from 9:15 - 11:45. There is one lady there all the time and the moms take turns staying with the kids. I think it will be good for him to be with other kids since right now the only kids he's really around are mine and they are 13 and 14.

WI tomorrow! I'm actually looking forward to it this time. I have been weighing every day and I think I should be down at least 2 lbs this week! The stress is gone (for the most part) and things are back to normal (whatever that is lol).

Make it a great day eveyone!!

LBH 05-26-2006 11:05 AM

Tsk, tsk, Molly...WI everyday!! :nono: My mom usually has the family over on Memorial Day, but everyone is busy this year, so it's just us, and my grandparents, of course.

Karen, never heard of a cinema cafe, sounds cool! Alex will LOVE Over The Hedge. DH & Peter went last week to a special preview sponsored by their warehouse and they both loved it!

KarenK 05-26-2006 02:26 PM

Well, we are going to the movies tonight! Lauren: I hope he likes it. I'm making him take a nap this afternoon so maybe he won't be grumpy during the show. I don't think he will since we will be eating at the same time.

Now, I'm very confused. Does it make a huge difference if you weigh after lunch as opposed to after breakfast? You've already eaten and it's not on an empty stomach either way. Today at the endo's office I'd lost 3! pounds. :chin: The only difference this time was that it was after breakfast and last time it was after lunch. Oh well, my ketones are behaving so he didn't gripe at me and the wench from the diabetes center didn't call me after I faxed my sheet over. I guess things are going OK!

:preg: Only 25 days to go! :cloud9:

Stevi-rocks 05-26-2006 08:25 PM

Hello ladies,
We have no major plans. DH is on vacation starting yest. and we recieved our new living room furniture today.....Its sooooo pretty! I spent most of yest and part of today cleaning the carpets and rearranging. Feels like a new house. I know I've burned a butt load of calories yest and today. Monday I plan to weigh should be good.

Karen, I wanna go to the movies! We used to go all the time B4 the baby, now its just a hassle to get a sitter (usually MIL). Hope it was fun!
Lauren, congrats on the free stuff...gotta love it!
Molly, Hope your weigh in was all you expected!

See ya later gaters!

mamabear272 05-26-2006 10:44 PM

I know Lauren I shouldn't but I do. I am not a person who likes surprises and if I only weighed in once a week, I'd be nuts! LOL I don't think I could do it.

Stevi-rocks 05-27-2006 05:42 PM

Soooo I just couldn't wait til Mon and weighed today....Down 2 more! I'm offically in the 230's. Not exactly where I want to be but a **** of an improvement. Weird thing, I look in the mirror and feel I look exactly the same as before. I've never been quite this heavy, maybe thats a factor.

lppennington 05-27-2006 06:11 PM

Stevi, it might also be that you are looking at yourself every day and dont notice the small changes. I'm sure that if your friends notice, that maybe the proof that you need (oh and the scales too).

Karen, How did you like the movie. I want to see it really bad, but have to wait for it to get to the cheaper cinemas. I love the trailers for it! - They crack me up every time.

Lisa

LBH 05-27-2006 06:16 PM

Stevi, Congrats on the loss! :cheer: Enjoy the furniture! Got any pics?

Karen, how did Alex like the movie? How was the cinema cafe?

Lisa, how about a matinee? (sp?)

KarenK 05-27-2006 08:31 PM

Hey Guys,

The movie was fun! The theater is an old one that has every other row of seats removed. In it's place they have coffee tables. They put the food on the coffee table and you pull it up into place. It was very cute. Alex liked the movie, but he wasn't able to sit still. With all the space between the rows, it didn't matter. He didn't bother anyone else.
