~~~Week of 12th August~~~
Morning all!
Well the weather here is looking truly miserable this morning, it's nearly 10am and it looks soooo dark. Had a bit of a wet week last week. On Thursday morning I went out and got caught in the rain. I had to pour water out of my shoes before I could come indoors. My knickers were soaked through. I needed to go out again, coz I had a book on order - so I waited until the rain had stopped, put on fresh clothing and went out again. I got about 3 minutes down the road and the rain started again - soaked through again, right down to my knickers. Guess I was not meant to go out on Thursday. I am thinking about changing my career and I found a book called "What colour is your parachute?" Has anyone heard of or used it? Anyway enough about my wet knickers -- as you know I am going back to WW on Tuesday to face the "scale monster". Wish me luck!
LBH - keep up the good work, you are so close to your 10%. I am with you on the seafood thing. I only eat cod, haddock or tuna from a can.
Pryia - congrats on the loss, keep it up
Juldiet - :wave:
RR - I would so like to be able to maintain - right now I seem to be specializing in gaining :lol:
Rabbit - aubergine/eggplant is amazing in mousakka and is fantastic when roasted with olive oil in the oven. I think it was you that mentioned grilling the veggies, just add the aubergine and treat the same way
Tech - I know what you mean about the crisps/chips thing. I think we both need to bang our heads together and get back on track.
Hi to anyone I may have missed and have a good week everyone. :D
Juldiet 08-12-2001 11:54 AM
BFB: I'd love to have some of your rain (minus the wet knickers :) ). All the storms we've had lately have been on the other side of Taneycomo Lake. We can see it and hear it, it just won't hop over the water....meanwhile my yard is dry beyond dry.
Well I was hoping to report a 2 lb loss, but I think its closer to a maintain at 187. But I'm not sad...I'm finding that the longer I maintain at each weight the harder it is to go over that weight again (yeah! progress in my life! there is hope!) My husband has been saying such nice things this week about how much better I'm looking and feeling - thats encouragement to keep going.
We leave Thursday for a show in Lexington KY. I get to meet another one of my internet friends from the frugal-moms discussion boards. From now till the end of Oct we'll be gone most every weekend.
RR: I like crab cakes!! And its something the 4 and 5 yr olds will eat too. I think I've made them 3 times in the last 6 mts! I can barely eat tuna (love a good tuna steak). It does help to rinse the tuna (albacore only) under cold water - removes alot of that 'fishy taste'.
Pryia 08-12-2001 07:43 PM
Sunday!!!
BFB: Oh we could use your rain too. But I
guess for now we don't get any. At least it
is not ungodly hot now. The book you
mentioned has been around forever. I
remember my mom having a copy when I was a
kid. Funny how just reading the Title I
could imagine it at our house on the shelf.
She keeps trying to get me to read the book
along with a bunch of dating books. Has not
happened yet.
LBH and RR: Okay I have taken up meeting men
on the net. I met this guy last night in a
chatroom that lives here in town. Any advice
or places to go to for others. LOL. Mr.
Right is not going come Knocking on my door
so I have to help him find me.
Okay I have to get my BUTT on program again.
I don't know why I am not. But I am not. I
saw the ex yesterday and had a good laugh
when I was coming home. He must be in the
dog house alot cause he always has flowers
in his hand. LOL
Have a great one!!!!!
:dizzy: :wave:
LBH 08-13-2001 10:29 AM
Hi All,
Man did i have a busy weekend! Did not leave work until 7:30 Friday night. Saturday AM we got up, made a loaf of raisin bread for Gran and drove down the shore to spend the weekend with Gran and Gramps! They just about drove us crazy (what did I expect, they're very old!), but I love them and things were good. Helped them get through a few confusing issues they have going on right now with their phone!
I did not count any points this weeked, but I don't think I did too bad. Probably not totally OP, but not overboard either. I'm back OP today though, and even though it's gloomy here, I brought my sneakers to walk at lunch time. I am getting my exercise in this AM though, breaking a sweat trying to move all my Training Files from the other side of the office, where the other girl sat, to my side.
Will try to catch up with everyone later, have to get crackin' for now! Have a great day!
Rabbit 08-13-2001 12:52 PM
HELLO ALL
Had a fun weekend with the family.:) Did not count points on Saturday though or Sunday, come to think of it. Hopefully didn't do tooooo much damage.
Tech - the only way I can stay out of the chip bag is not to have chips around. My willpower otherwise just does not make it.
RR - sd2 sure seems to have you hopping! Can't believe school is starting already! Mine leave this weekend for college.
BFB - good luck at WW! You can do it! Thanks for the info on eggplant. Yes, I'm the one grilling veggies.
Jul - interesting that the longer maintains make it harder to go over that again. Maybe that 2 pound loss will catch up with you this week.:D
ok, have a great week. :wave: Hello to everyone I missed.
GOOd Evening all!!!!!!
well, I had the scare of a lifetime yesterday...We are having serious bus and school problems soo SD#2 was transferred to a new special ed program..IT was her first time to ride a bus soo I was waiting at the bus stop to take her home..Imagine my horror when 6pm rolled around and she had still never arrived...I panicked, called people..Refman was calling..I think I hyperventilated trying to call the bus drivers and all they could say was that she got on the bus at 3pm....SHe finally made it at 6:30 tired, hungry and thirsty..Her daycare is 0.7miles from her school and it takes them 2hrs in the morning and 3-4 hrs in the evening to arrive...I called the handicapped people and complained..TOday I skipped the club to pick her up myself to keep that from happening again until something is figured out..SHe was smiling and happy not knowing that she had been driven all over town....If it would not be for all the therapies that she receives, I would put her in private school.
Lauren-Did U get my message???
BFB--Don't get discouraged...Pick up and start again ASAP!!!!
WEll, off to fix supper!!!
Going to bed really early tonight!
Vicki
LBH 08-15-2001 08:46 AM
bfb - good luck!!:D
jul - hope you're able to claim it!!:D
rr - that is awful! glad sd is fine. hope you can get something worked out - it is ridiculous for her to have to be on the bus that long.
have a great day all.
Hello!!
Howdy ;) Well I am going to stay on program and within my points if it kills me. It has been almost 3 weeks and I have not been doing good.
I am NOT having any candy out of that dish. For me it is an all or nothing thing. So I will have none.
LBH- I went over and posted my journal. Going to try and do that every day cause I think that will really help me. I need to get back in the swing of things.
RR: you poor girl. I had a scare with that twice with my son. I hate school bussing. But he will be on one again in a few weeks. But at least he is older and can ask questions. that poor baby.
Rabbit: Hang in there. I am hanging on to the same knot on the rope with you.
Well I guess I should get back to work.
:p :cool:
LBH 08-15-2001 04:49 PM
OK, I have been horrible today and I totally don't expect a loss at WI tonight, I expect a gain. It will be a total act of God if I lose that .2 lbs. and get my 10 lb. ribbon!! Why do I insist on sabatoging myself?! :(
RoadRunner 08-15-2001 05:57 PM
helllo all!!
Much better news today...THe daycare called the school board and complained and was able to get her dismissed at 3pm each evening and they are picking her up and driving her to daycare with only a 5minute ride...She will miss 8 minutes of school each day but who cares!!!!!!!:dizzy: Everyone adores her and thinks she is soo special that they want to help us...It pays to have an adorable blonde hair blue eyed that loves everyone!!!!! :D
Well, excercise is going good...Food is good!!I dont have time in the morning for breakfast soo I just eat a cereal bar and water as I run down the halls...It is the evening that is hard because of cooking for the kids and SDS#1 likes sugar cookies when she gets in and I like the raw dough!!!!
Well off to roundup kids!!!
Vicki
Rabbit 08-16-2001 09:44 AM
HELLO EVERYONE
Pryia - I'm with you! OP every day! We just have to hang on to that knot and start pulling ourselves back up. Let me know your progress.
Lauren - hope the weigh in went better than you expected. You have been doing so well recently - just keep going.
RR - oh, I'm so glad that all worked out for the little one. And it is definitely harder when you are cooking for kids, just don't let it get to you. You can handle it.
You know I feel so much better when I am in control of myself and my eating. I've got to get that feeling back.
RABBIT
LBH 08-16-2001 09:56 AM
OK, so things went as I thought...I got what I deserved, a 2 lb. gain. I was just very destructive to myself this week, I don't know why, because I really want that ribbon, and I really want to reach my LD goal. I soo badly want to be out of the 230's, but I just couldn't seem to keep on track. I don't know if it was just because I was busy, or had the munchies, or what? Anyway, I was wearing one of my favorite dresses yesterday and I felt soo fat in it. My "top" roll, the one above my belly button, is bigger, and I look horrible. It has given me new motivation to get back to the ab roller and more exercise. I did walk once around the building yesterday, but that was only about .7 of a mile. I really need to get DH to push me more!
Anyway, I'm hoping that the motivation I'm feeling right now will stick with me through the day, and onward. Have a great day all!
The Stats:
245.8/237.6/LD: 229/170
BaileySG 08-16-2001 01:15 PM
Hi all.
Sounds like all of us are struggling right now. I was thinking maybe we could find a way to get back on track. In another group, I found that they are posting 10 positive changes that they have made on their weight loss journey. Maybe this will help us to realize the positive changes we are making rather than just focusing on the scales. Since I have just started revamping my lifestyle, I have not yet mastered any of these, but I will keep working on them.
1. Large increase in fruits and veggies that will keep me healthier regardless of my weight
2. Large increase in water intake.
3. Large decrease in Coke - now 1 diet coke a day
4. Large decrease in Alcohol consumption
5. Focusing on where I want to get and who I want to be
6. Clothes beginning to "sag"
7. Small increase in daily exercise (must work on this more)
8. Decrease in intake of fatty/wuggary foods
9. Discovery of wonderful online support group
10. Commitment to myself as special and deserving of good treatment.
So, my LD goal looks like it is going to be down to the wire, but I am not too discouraged. I am trying to do this in a healthy way and really make lifestyle changes (as opposed to "crash diets" I have lost quickly on before).
My "2 1/2 weeks to go" goal is to come be half way to my LD goal by LD AND to do the treadmill 1 hour before work for 6 of the 12 work days left until LD.
Anyone else have ideas of how to get reinspired?
Bailey:cool:
Juldiet 08-16-2001 01:49 PM
Lauren: I think you go thru the same thing I used to go to. If I saw a loss, or if my husband said "your looking good", or if anyone noticed I'd lost a smidgen of a lb. I would feel so proud of myself and then find myself eatting. I think I've finally overcome that....but I'm not sure how I did. This whole weight thing is such a 'mind trip'!!
I get to claim it!!!! Put me down for another 2 lb loss. I'm now officially at 185. (I have lost 30 lbs).
I have really high arches and the thing that connects the arch to the heel in my right foot has been breaking down. I'm wearing a brace to help it and hope that it won't require med. attention. Puts a damper on walking right now and I'm curious to see how it is after standing on my feet all weekend at a show.
We are out the door and headed to Lexington. See you all on Wed. - jul
Still hanging around.....
Hi Everyone!
I know I don't post as often as I used to but I'm always around. There's been some personal stuff going on in my life but I just wanted you to know I'm always "lurking" and thinking of you. I think it was BFB who said we have to all try harder to take our own advice. We're so great at being nice and supportive to each other so let's be nice and supportive to ourselves!!
I've never posted my weight because I'm emberassed to see it in writing even though everyone feels that weigh and it doesn't matter if fat to you is 140 or 240 pounds but if you're emberassed then you're emberassed. Anyway I just made it to the 169.5 mark this morning so I'm pretty happy about that and I thought I'd share it.
I don't remember where I found the recipe on this site but someone talked about the Snickers Pie dessert and I made it last week and it was soooooo good. If you can't find or don't have the recipe let me know and I'll pass it along it was delicious and tasted like Snickers - I couldn't believe it.
I hope everyone is having a good day and I'm always out there thinking good thoughts for everyone so keep at it!!
Elisa
LBH 08-17-2001 09:42 AM
Hi All,
I trying really hard to keep it together, but I seem to have lost my willpower, and part of my motivation somewhere!! :( Willpower has never been my strong suit, but I have to at least get more motivation back!! I walked twice around the building at lunch yesterday, which is just over a mile, so that was a small accomplishment. There's a chance of rain today, so don't know if I'll get out there today.
Elisa- Good to see you post! If you change the setting to show posts from a few months back, you'll find the Snicker's Pie recipe. I have never made it, although I love Snickers, because I'd probably eat the whole thing!
Jul- Yeah, that's probably what happens to me...I am trying to work on that. Congrats on the loss...and on the 30lbs. total!! That's great!! Hope the brace works out for you, and you're not in too much pain this week!
Rabbit- How did WI go? Good I hope! It sounds like you've got your "mo-jo" back! :lol:
Vicki- Glad to hear you got the day care/school thing figured out...what a mess that sounded like! :( I got your message finally...there was something wrong with my bookmark.
Pryia- How's it going? You did not continue your food log! Hope you are hanging in there!!
Hello to everyone else that has not been posting lately!! Hope you are at least lurking!! :)
And...HAPPY BIRTHDAY SETINA!! (I cheated, when I was trying to figure out my bookmark issue, I noticed that the top of the page said all the birthdays, and Watermelon is one of them!)
Have a great day all!
Rabbit 08-17-2001 04:25 PM
HELLO EVERYONE!
Nice to see so many posts!
I gained .5 yesterday - really thought I would maintain or even have a small loss, but such was not the case. Anyway, I'm sick of the whining and the excuses (mine ofcourse). I've got to do this right!
Bailey - I think you are so right with the "lifestyle" change mode - I think that is the only way we can make lasting changes and keep this weight off. Getting reinspired is so tough! Yesterday I pulled out different weight loss stuff I had and had written and read them all again to refocus. At our ww meeting, our leader talked about ways to have a jump-start week and get ourselves moving again. Some of the things she said - Journal; overestimate our points; exercise 20 minutes everyday; drink lots of water. Hmm. I'll have to try to think of the rest.
Jul - hooray for the loss!:D Sorry to hear about your foot. Have fun in Lexington.
Elisa - congrats on making the 169.5 mark!!!:)
Lauren - Great that you are walking! Try to think about the positive good things you have done. Let go of the bad stuff. I cannot rely on willpower. My goal is to try not to tempt myself in the first place - to plan for success. Hang in there.:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY WATERMELON!!:cool:
OK, for the positive changes I have made:
1. I eat a lot healthier diet than I used to. Lots of veggies and fruit.
2. I exercise regularly - practically daily.
3. I pay attention to what I eat.
4. I don't buy junk food.
5. I drink lots of water.
6. I gave up mt. dew.
7. I plan healthy meals.
have a super weekend. Will update my mileage soon. Plan to bike ride and go golfing this weekend. Also moved ss out today and will move ds out on Monday. It'll be a busy weekend!
Hi Everyone!
Remember me? I have been lurking every once in a while and I really appreciate the birthday wishes. I had a great day. The big 35! The day before I was so sick and thought I would have to go to the ER but I finally got my migraine under control. I am still going through a lot right now with stress and depression but I am doing somewhat better. Weight loss has been zilch. I should be off the steroids I had to take this coming Thursday. We could not get my headache to break so the doctor said the steroids were an option to help with the swelling in my head. I lost vision for a few minutes the night before I went to see him so that was scary. I sure hope that one day I outgrow these as my mom and grandmother did.
I do want you all to know that I think about you and miss you. I usually lurk and dont post because I hate to drop in and then disappear.
I do hope to be back soon on a regular basis.
Hugs
Setina
