Week of ~March 26th~

Hello all! I hope everyone's weekend has been wonderful for you. I once again catered a group at our Confrence Center on campus. It was great we ran out of almost all of the food that we bought. (I brought home 5 Ham sandwiches) I have major homework due for tommorrow that I haven't done, so as soon as I am done with this I will start.

I didn't weigh myself this weekend so I will do it tommorrow.

Lisa

Hi all new here

Hello everyone, Today is my first day here at 3fatchicks I started my journey of weightlose and healthier eating yesterday. My name is Shari and I have been married to Brian for almost 12 years. We have three children that I lovingly homeschool. I have decided to count calories and exercise to lose my weight. I am currently at 279(this morning) and am 5'61/2" and wearing a 24 pants that are starting to get a little snug and usually a 26/28 shirt. I would like to weigh about 150-160 and if I weigh that i don't care what size I am. I just want to get healthy I'm starting to feel old and have to many aches and pains kwim? Yesterday I jumped on the treadmill and worked out on our weight machine and today I took the kids for walk down and back up "the big hill" I like rubber stamping, altering books, sewing, and reading. Lately we have been hiking as a family and it is a lot of fun and great exercise. Okay this is way longer than i intended and pretty boring;) so if you made it this far thanks. Nice to meet you all. Shari

chaoskitty 03-26-2006 07:53 PM

Hi Shari!

:welcome:

I've not been here on 3FC all that long, but I really like the posts and I've gotten lots of ideas - both what to do on a diet... and alas, what not to do on a diet. I think if you keep doing what you are doing (eating less, exercising more) you'll do terrific. Just remember - it didn't go on over night and won't come off that way. Losing weight and keeping it off is definitely a lifestyle change.

Best of luck!!

Hi All!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was busy, the usual cleaning, then visiting the IL's and shopping today. Robby has been a beast all weekend, especially today...temper all day. :tantrum: I hope this phase passes quickly.

Kitty, :welcome2:

Shari, :welcome2:

lppennington 03-26-2006 09:29 PM

Lauren, I am sorry to hear that Robby has been in a bad mood. That makes it very dificult on you. Hopefully tommorrow he will wake up in a good mood.

:welcome3: Shari and Kitty. It is great to have you here. Dont worry about being to long winded or boring. We are glad that you are here.

KarenK 03-26-2006 09:39 PM

:welcome: :welcome: to the newbies! Hope you find the support you need here. We are a pretty cool group.

I found out on Friday that, baring missy getting anxious and trying to come earlier, we will welcome baby girl sometime between June 10th and 14th. We won't schedule the day until about 6 weeks before hand. I have 12 1/2 weeks left, so I guess it will be here before I know it! YIKES!!

On the bad side, I failed my glucose tolerance test. Bummer. I hate drinking that stuff and knowing I have to do it again for the three hour test is not a happy thought. It nearly made me gag on Friday.

Lisa: Cool on the catering gig. Hope you made lotsa money! And that you were able to get your homework done.

Shari: Welcome to the 30 somethings! One day at a time and it will happen.

Kitty: Welcome too! I'm glad to hear that you are finding what you need here.

Lauren: I'm sorry that Robby's been a bear. What's up with him? I hope he's a new boy tomorrow!

We took Alex to the circus today and he had the BEST time. It was almost as much fun watching him as the performers. He also had soda for the first time. It wasn't my idea to give it to him, it was his dad's. I wouldn't have done it, but after it was done, it was done. I let his father pay the price for the decision by having to take him to the bathroom three times during the performance!

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend.

SweetsieNJ 03-27-2006 08:31 AM

Hi all - I'm new to the group too! I'm a SAHM to three from NJ. My starting weight was 196, 18 months ago. I had gotten down to 147 but went back up to 173.5 before I got myself back on track again. I'm now down to 168.8 - it's not been good!

I'm 36 btw.

LBH 03-27-2006 09:10 AM

Hi Sweetsie! Where in NJ are you?! There's 2 of us on the thread from NJ. I'm in Northern, Passaic Co. Great job getting down to 147, you can do it again...hopefully for the last time!

Karen, How's Alex doing potty training? Peter's doing great! He's been dry the last few nights also. I let him sleep with his underwear on, but a diaper/pullup over them. Tonight I may let him sleep just in his underwear....actually, I may wait until the weekend, just in case, so I don't have to be up during the night changing sheets on a work night.

Robby's in a great mood today. I think part of his mood is the teeth...his cheeks were pink again last night, so I'm guessing that's it. I gave him some Tylenol before dinner, hoping it would help whatever was causing his mood! Finally a bottle and bed and he was out for the night!

I know it's a temper-testing stage anyway, because he was in a great mood, babbling away in the car this AM, then all of a sudden, he just straightened his arms and legs, made fists, and grrr'd! Then went back to babbling!

lppennington 03-27-2006 09:11 AM

:welcome3: Sweetsie. We all have momments like that. just remember that today is another day. I can make good choices today! Dont dwell on the past because it will keep you down.

Karen, we made about 640 dollars. Thats a whole heap of a lot better than last time. I don't know if I want to do it again though. I said if I was still in the area I would come back and help. :(

I also know about getting here before you know it. I have 54 days left until graduation. 45 days until the last day of classes. WooHoo Actually I really have Senioritis, but I need to buckle down. Well off to go to school, got so much stuff before class.

SweetsieNJ 03-27-2006 09:17 AM

Thanks for the welcome! I'm in Florence, a bit south of Trenton!

LBH 03-27-2006 09:22 AM

Oh, so we have the whole state represented now! :D Cool!

mamabear272 03-27-2006 10:14 AM

Hi everyone!! And :welcome2: to the newbies. You're gonna love it here!

I haven't been posting much lately but I have been lurking. Not much time to post, my fil passed away on the 19th and I was running with dh, mil and sil making plans. I didn't do well working out at all. I didn't at all last week. I'm back on track now though. I just finished the elliptical. :carrot:

Woo Hoo Lisa! Try not to get too far off track with school but have fun too! You've worked really hard and deserve to relax a little. But get your homework done!! lol

Lauren I know what you mean about the devilish boy. Ricky has been bad the last week too. He didn't get much down time last week so I'm trying to make sure he gets some this week. I'm hoping that will help.

Karen, sorry to hear about the glucose test. I know those are hard to do. My neice has had to do the long test. Hang in there!

I'm off now to the shower. Make it a great day everyone!

lppennington 03-27-2006 10:33 PM

Molly, with 15 credit hours I am constantly doing homework in my waking hours if I am not at work or class. I just started a class tonight and the instructor wants us to work 8 - 12 hours a week on this one class alone. OMG!!! I am about ready to die!!! There are only 54 days, I can make it (I am trying to repeat this to myself).

Oh well, I need sleep! Good night everyone!

RoadRunner 03-28-2006 05:07 AM

Good Morning!!
Well..I think it is the week for the fussy kiddos!!! K broke her nose last week and I think the swelling/congestion is making her mean cuz she cant breathe out of the nose..I swear, she is a boy sometimes--Last weekend, she fell over a railing after climbing up stairs and going over the rails and tried to walk the edge--Didnt bother her, she just dusted off the pants, picked up her cap and did it again..THen on Wed, she dove into the mats at the Little Gym and broke the ole nose.. She is just rough--wears a backwards baseball cap and climbs on anything..SHe is just a funny girl!!
Ok...my gain or no loss...I guess that is better than nothing,,,
Hello to the Newbies!!!Off to work
RR

vagurl33 03-28-2006 07:54 AM

Good Morning everyone. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was ok, I had to work Saturday and was off on Sunday. I have to work 12-8 today and off tomorrow. I havent weighed myself yet. Trying to wait for my monthly visitor to go away. I am feeling a little yucky right now. Well I have thing to do before I have to go to work. Hope everyone has a great day.

Lips2Hips 03-28-2006 08:26 AM

Hi there. I was just looking through all the different boards and since I am a stay at home mom of 2 boys, 6 and 9, who are homeschooled and I am 35 (36 in June) I thought I'd stop by. I could really use the support of other moms that are at home. I don't like to place blame but staying at home all day with two skinny boys who eat constantly is tough! I have about 20-30 lbs to lose to get where I'd like to be for good but haven't quite figured out how to do it. Which program and all that...I've tried them all. I just finished the SB book and thought that sounded at least very "heart" healthy!!!! But I am a carb-aholic and know that is going to be tough. Any suggestions of which probram works well if you are at home 24/7? Easy question huh? I am considering the "staple your mouth shut" diet...so any suggestions at this point will truly be a welcomed one. By the way, does being 30 something work as far as the whole (not) placing blame game? :D tee hee! oops...I forgot to mention that I am NOT from NJ although I did live there for 4 years between the years of 8-12? Will that work for you all?

lppennington 03-28-2006 09:24 AM

:welcome3: Lips! Dont worry about not being from NJ. I have never even been there, oh just remembered I was in a airport for 30 min. As far as what works as a whole for the group. We are all doing it a little different I think. We try and weigh in once a week (some of us are more faithful), watch what we eat and try to exersize more. I am personally trying Slim Fast Optima Shakes for lunch and trying to eat healthy the other meals. I also write my weight down when I do weigh myself and update my tracker. I keep the list on my closet door to remind me whenever I pull out clothes.

RR, I am so sorry to hear about K. She sure sounds like a tomboy!

Well of to get ready for class. 53 days y'all! :D

LBH 03-28-2006 10:28 AM

Hi All,

Lips, :welcome2: Glad to have you with us, and NO, being from NJ is NOT a prerequisite!! Just kinda worked out that way... I too am a carb addict. I used to do WW...should be doing it right now, but I can't seem to get my arse in gear...and it worked great! Being home all day gives you the time to portion out your points, study labels at the supermarket, heck you could even make a math lesson out of it for the kids! :D

There's a lot of diet reviews on 3fatchicks.com, and in the forums. In the meantime, we're here for ya'!

VAGurl, I hear ya', the hag is visiting me this week and yesterday's WI was NOT pretty...

RR, Geez, tell that pretty little girl to slow down!! Buy her a tea set or something! :D Poor thing's been injured enough in her little life! I'm just waiting...I think Robby's gonna be my monkey, Peter's too cautious.

Molly, Nice to see you, sorry to hear about your FIL.

SheilaF328 03-28-2006 11:10 AM

Hi everyone -

:welcome3: to all the newbies! I'm still kind of a newbie, I've been here about three weeks. I love this site!

I cringe when I hear all of your fussy children stories! My kids are 10 and 15, so they may no longer fuss, but believe me they can still throw the tantrums!! My 15 year old daughter just got her driving permit :fr: She's doing fairly well, although I did have to scream in panic the other day for her to HIT THE BRAKES!!! I will tell you this, it's quite wonderful to have the "power of the keys"!

Weight loss for last week was five pounds. I did go to Wave two of Sonoma on Thursday, so I imagine it's going to slow down now.

KarenK 03-28-2006 08:35 PM

Whew, crazy couple of days here. Alex was sick again so I took him in to the doctor's. He's definitely got all the signs of having allergies (poor kid was doomed with me as a mom.) so he's on Zyrtec, Claritan and Flonase. Whew. We will try it for a month and see how it goes. It seemed to help him feel a little better this afternoon.

Lauren: He's doing great. We are not trying for night-time yet. He's still in pull ups at night. He just doesn't have the control yet. He'll have a couple good nights and then he'll totally soak through everything. Always seems to happen when he's in my bed. Hmmmm.

RR: OMGoodness. Broken nose? Yeeooouuch! That must be awful for her. I'd be all kinds of grumpy and grouchy! My eyes are watering just thinking about it.

VaGurl: Well, there's one good thing about being pregnant! No AF!!

Lips: WELCOME even tho you aren't from NJ!! (only kidding!) I'm glad you found us. Hope we can help.

Sweetsie: Well, Lauren is right. She has the north, I have the middle and you have the south! We are well represented.

Lisa: Cool on the $$! I don't think it sounds like a career I would enjoy. I hate to cook.

Sheila: Oh, I am so not looking forward to driving lessons! I get scared sometimes when DH is driving and he's not a newbie!

OK, girlie keeps kicking the laptop so I guess she's tired of me squishing her head (or is it her legs?). I hope everyone has had a great day!

mamabear272 03-28-2006 09:14 PM

Lauren, thanks. We're doing much better now. It has brouhgt back a lot of memories of when my dad passed. Mine had chirosis and his had cancer but when they went it was exactly the same. So creepy!!

Sheila, I have driving soon too. I have the man who is 18 mos but then I have two olders. My dd is 14 and ds is 12. Andrea is talking about driving and it just scares the crap out of me!! :yikes: lol

Lips, I also am not from NJ. However Lisa and I have Toledo well covered! I too am a carb freak and I tried SB but quickly fell off the wagon. I am now doing WW and I love it. I don't feel like there's anything that I can't eat. I just do it in moderation (imagine that) now. This has been the best program for me personally. I don't want to feel like I'm dieting and with this I don't.

Karen, sorry to hear about Alex. My step son (8) has allergies too. He is on claratin and flonase and he does well on that. He also has to have shots in the spring and early summer every month to get him through.

Well I'm off to my Palm sudoku game. I just downloaded it and I'm totally addicted. Gonna do that while I watch AI (I have it recorded). Make it a great night (and day tomorrow)!

lppennington 03-28-2006 10:56 PM

Lips, what Molly failed to mention is: Toledo, OH is not that big!  But we do know how the people in NJ feel. Ours is just a (much) smaller area of coverage. :lol3: :lol3:

Lisa

LBH 03-29-2006 08:49 AM

Hi All,

OK, I've decided I REALLY need to start doing WW again. I don't know why I can't get my arse in gear. I was telling one of the girls this AM that she looks great. She's on her second round of WW at work and she's lost 17 lbs. so far...think it started in January. I think I'll start by taking inventory of what I have. It was soo much easier to do this when I was single, or even before kids!

So Molly, and anyone else that watched, what did you think of AI last night? I have to agree with the judges that most of them sucked. :( I thought Bucky, Chris and Paris were the standouts last night. I can't believe Simon put Bucky down! I thought for the first time he did awesome, tried to get a little dancing in, I heard a little range in his voice, and he just plain was in his element! Paris was having a great time, although I agree with Paula, there was nothing "kid" about that performance, or the song! I love Chris, and I still think on talent he'll win. I don't like a lot of heavy rock, but I can appreciate it. I agree with Simon that he has to get out of that rut...just a bit. I don't expect him to sing Celine Dion, as Ryan said, but maybe try something a little different.

Bottom 3: I think it will be the first 3 performers...Lisa, Kellie and Ace. I missed most of Kellie & Ace's performances, but just from the recaps, they weren't great. I was cringing when Lisa opened her mouth to sing....bad song choice.

Karen, Peter wore underwear last night and stayed dry all night!! :cheer: I was worried, because DH gave him strawberry milk after their bath, which was right before bed...and he had already had strawberry milk with dinner. It'll come, hang in there!

lppennington 03-29-2006 08:56 AM

Lauren, do they have a WW group at work? That might be really good for you. Daily support, not that we don't support you. There is a group at school but it is a little pricey for a single college students budget. Besides sometimes we get into a rut and cant see what is going on. At least they are in your area (even though all of NJ is covered :) )

Well off to study!!! :p

LBH 03-29-2006 10:46 AM

Yes, they have a WW at Work group. Because I'm still a temp, I didn't get the email that went out about it, I just heard about it after another girl told me she was doing it. I guess I'll have to find out when the next round starts up. Could drive me crazy though, it will really bother me to WI at lunch time, with clothes on and food in my stomach!

lppennington 03-29-2006 01:11 PM

My boss does that. She has one outfit (light weight clothes) that she always changes into. I don't know if I could do that either.

Lisa

vagurl33 03-30-2006 08:22 AM

Well I finially weighed myself today and it wasnt pretty AF really messed me up this week. The scales say that I went up 2 pounds. I am hoping it is from bloating due to AF. Well I have to get some things done before I go to work. Hope everyone has a great day.

LBH 03-30-2006 09:09 AM

Lisa, when I used to go to WW, I used to wear basically the same thing...bike shorts, lightweight tshirt and lightweight socks. I'd take my sneakers off, and in the winter I'd take my sweats off! It's just crazy!

VA, yeah, the hag sucks...she's been threatening here all week...I just wish she'd come and get it over with! I've been trying to overload on water.

mamabear272 03-30-2006 02:36 PM

 Lauren! Too funny. AF is here too. Evil thing! As far as AI goes I wasn't really impressed with any of them except for Chris. I didn't like him at first but he's a rocker at heart and I am too. I've loved everything he's done. The thing I don't like about the judges is that they say to get out of the rut but then if he does something different, they'll tell him that he sold out and didn't stay true to himself. If they sing a song exactly then they say that they should make it their own and if they change it up, they say they took too big a risk and no one would recognize the song. I kinda though Lisa would be the one to go. Kelly Clarkson is a hard one to measure up to and she just didn't have the power voice to pull that off!

Anyway, I have a ton of phone calls to make for softball stuff. Make it a great day everyone.

KarenK 03-31-2006 09:14 PM

Hi guys,

Things are OK here. Eating has been fair. I go for my 3 hour test in two weeks, so I guess I better start eating better!

I don't watch AI, so I've no idea what that's all about!

The weather has been awesome here, so we've been outside a lot. I think Alex is giving up naps and I already miss them! He goes to bed a lot easier when he hasn't had one tho!

Hope everyone has had an awesome week.

campbellredhead 04-01-2006 09:44 PM
