its going to be a great week! i can feel it. i just got back from the grocery store and i am doing everyTHING low this week. lo cal, lo fat, lo carb. you name it. i need a little kick start and i want to see if ANYTHING will shrink my waist just an itty bit more.

i finished my first 10K yesterday (more about that on my blog) and well school, work, running and now rodeo will keep me so busy this week i might just lose my mind !! :):):)

another good thing is how BEAUTIFUL the weather is today!!!

mom2alex 02-27-2006 08:55 AM

Good morning! Sorry I haven't been posting much since I joined. Been doing blah on my weight loss, so didn't want to be whining and bringing moods down.

But - I had a FANTASTIC trip to the grocery store yesterday, bought me some better snacks, more fruit, salad, etc. - so I am ready to go. There is no excuse for eating/ordering out this week!

JustJuneBug 02-27-2006 08:57 AM

i did the same thing yesterday jenn! i need a bigger refrigerator! all that fresh produce takes up too much room!!

KarenK 02-27-2006 09:13 AM

Good morning everyone,

It's been a whiney weekend at my house. The little guy is sick, and whew, does he ever live up to his sex's reputation for being sick! Need a tissue? Whine and cry as loudly as possible. And from the second you need one until someone can get across the room to get you the needed tissue. Repeat each and every time you need one. Until your mom is ready to jump out of her skin with the whining! :dizzy:

Eating was the pits yesterday, we went to IHOP for breakfast. That's not a diet friendly place. I paid for it tho, I was SO sick we had to come home and not do some shopping we had planned on. I totally do not want to go there again for an extremely long time. If ever. :barf:

Hope everyone is having a super great day!

Monday

Good morning everyone,

My name is Leec. I posted a message a little bit ago and Lauren suggested that I came here to chat with all of the 30 somethings.
For me Monday is actually starting off pretty well. Tuesdays are usually my weigh in day, but for some reason I couldn't wait until tomorrow. I think maybe its because I bought a really cool digital scale this weekend. Either way, I set a 2lb weight lose goal for myself and to my surprise this morning when I go on I discovered I had lost 5lbs in a week. I couldn't be more excited.:carrot: Sorry, I had to share.

Wait it gets better. I got to work this morning and found an envelope on my desk with a letter stating that I will be recieving a raise starting March 1.

Well enough rambling, its just not very often that a Monday starts off this well.

I look forward to chatting with all of you.

Leec

LBH 02-27-2006 10:08 AM

Hi All,

Well, I gained 3.4 lbs. this week, but that's because I had lost 6.2 lbs. last week because of the stomach virus. So maybe I can say it's a loss of 2.8 over 2 wks.??

Karen, sorry that IHOP made you sick. :( But I hope it was just that, and not a virus! Hope Alex is feeling better! How are you feeling PG wise? How many weeks are you now?

Jenn, I love it..."A FANTASTIC trip to the grocery store"!! :lol3: How motivated do you have to be to consider any trip to the grocery store "fantastic"?! That's awesome...and I totally know what you mean!

JJB, Congrats on the 10K! I did scan over your blog...what an adventure!

RR, Hang in there! My boys LOVE Little Einsteins too. DH bought them a DVD also.

 Hi to everyone else! Have a great week!

LBH 02-27-2006 10:09 AM

Leec, we were posting at the same time. CONGRATS on the lose!! :cheer: And the raise!! How awesome! And for goodness sakes, don't apologize for telling us of your loss!! :lol3:

mamabear272 02-27-2006 11:28 AM

Leec, that's what we're here for! To encourage, vent, and rave! Great for you!

Lauren, great job on the loss. I would take that as an overall loss for the 2 weeks. ;)

Karen I hope the little guy is feeling better. It really does stink when they're sick! My oldest son is totally opposite on the male being sick stereotype. He has to be just about dying to even say anything. One time he had strep and I didn't know it until I noticed him eating funny and asked why. He told me his throat hurt a little. I took him to the doc and found out he had strep! I wish dh was as user friendly!

I did pretty good last week. I already gave my loss for last week. I just got done on the elliptical, I will be going to down some water now. And I've even had some fruit this morning. I am trying to get all my stuff right at the same time. I ususally have 2 of the three (exersice, water, fruits and veggies) going good and I slack on the other.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Moly

Intrinsicat 02-27-2006 03:41 PM

Sounds like everyone has a good start to the week (with the exception of a few colds) Hope you all feel better! We're just getting over that stuff here.

I had a good morning - won a radio contest and now I get to take my daughter backstage to see a band who currently plays one of her favorite country songs! She'll be thrilled.

I didn't do so well this weekend, I've been status quo on weight loss for the past week or so - and had a big celebratory lunch with a friend who just bought her first house. Ugh. Fortunately, starting tomorrow she's on board with this whole thing which will make it much easier since we work together and each lunch all the time - lunch time is going to become walk time!

lppennington 02-27-2006 09:52 PM

Intrinsicat, which group do you get to see? I am a HUGE country fan. I don't care who it is. The only people that come to my town though is like George Jones, I think Lorretta Lynn. If I want to see someone it is at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours or more. (I don't go to Detroit) I am so jeolous!

Leec, :welcome: Congrats on the two great things that happened. How exciting!

I forgot to weigh myself, however, I put on a skirt yesterday that was made for me, and it was loose around the waist. Things are starting to stress me out at school, we are coming down to the crunch time. Only 82 more days!!! :smoking: And of course I will be doing a lot of :write: (writing).

Angel33 02-28-2006 08:39 AM

Happy Fat Tuesday

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope everyone is doing well. So far I have had enough will power to not induldge in a Paczkis. They are everywhere around the office this morning.
If one more person asks me if I would like one, I'm going to scream.

JustJuneBug 02-28-2006 08:59 AM

yep...a couple of people here brought King cakes..."step away from the cake"..

mamabear272 02-28-2006 11:08 AM

I have not had any paczkis! DH had one and we figured out the points value...10. Not worth it to me! That's over a third of my points for the day. Glad I don't work in an office anymore!!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Molly

Intrinsicat 02-28-2006 10:30 PM

Ack!

Okay, so I finally decided to retire the old digital scale handed down from my mom for a Tanita body fat scale. Wow, do I regret that. Apparently my old scale was giving me the benefit of the doubt by about 2 pounds. And I managed to find 2 other pounds in the past week. So... changed the numbers around a bit on my ticker there... :censored:

lppennington: The group is called Hot Apple Pie. I think they're relatively new - they're first big song, Hillbillies, gets a lot of air time around here. It's a fun song, but I haven't heard anything else they've played. Should be interesting, she's excited. She likes the braying donkey noise in the song.

Angel33 - good job on staying away from the Paczkis! I wish I could say the same. I did real good today. I had an egg and toast for breakfast with some light cheese spread, then vegetable bean soup for lunch - just barely dodging an invite for burritos for lunch. But then went ouf for dinner and had pizza and beer. Ooof! No wonder this new scale hates me already...

lppennington 03-01-2006 06:26 AM

Intrinsicat, I have heard of them. And my country station plays them over and over. (Hillbillies) Have fun. I'm sure your daughter will really enjoy it.

I have a long day ahead of me so I am going to get ready.

Angel33 03-01-2006 10:48 AM

Good Morning Everyone

Hope everyone is well.
Question for you? Can anyone suggest a good multi-vitamin? I looked at them at the grocery store the other night, what a joke. There are hundreds, how do you pick? Any thoughts?

RoadRunner 03-01-2006 11:03 AM

Angel---I personally like the One a day Weight Smart---
Yep---too many to even read all the labels!!
RR

lppennington 03-01-2006 11:58 AM

Angel--- I like Centrum Chewables. They are Orange flavored and pretty good.

LBH 03-01-2006 01:58 PM

I bought the OAD Weight Smart ones and they made me feel sick to my stomach. I guess it was whatever was in them that made them "weight smart" (can't remember now), because when I stopped taking them, I felt better. My mom works for a Dr. that recommends Centrum to his patients. I think they all have pretty much the same ingredients.

What are paczkis??

Having a bit of a busy week here. The girl I was covering for came back today, so I'm in limbo til Monday when I officially start covering for the next one...as long as there's preggo's (and it's not me!), I guess I have a job!

Have a good one all!

PS...Karen, does DH ever commute to North Jersey? If so, what's his commute like? DH & I are trying to expand our search area for homes, and trying to figure out how far we're willing to commute.

Angel33 03-01-2006 02:41 PM

A paczkis is a deep fried pastry similar to a jelly filled doughnut. It has a ridulous amount of calories. A lot more than your normal doughnut.

mamabear272 03-01-2006 04:10 PM

Yep Angel...they are truely evil! It is a Lent thing. You are supposed to fast during Lent (the 40 days before Easter), so the Catholics had to use up all their sugar and lard. So they made Paczkis on Fat Tuesday (the day before Lent starts) to get rid of it all. The authentic ones have about 600 calories in one. They are very dense and heavy. A lot of the commercial bakeries and grocery stores make them but they are just basically a jelly roll. Trust me, you don't want to run into one!!

Where I live we are not to far from the part of town called the polish village. It's obviously where the polish primarily lived and some of the olders still do. There is a bakery there that sells authentic paczkis. They are sooo good but I resisted!!

lppennington 03-01-2006 08:40 PM

Molly you think you had it bad, Lourdes is full of Polish Nuns and students. Everyone was offering them.

Lauren, they are pronounced Poonch-skis. Don't ask me how they get that. I guess they come from the polish catholics.

I have some good news ladies. I took out a layaway and when I got home, I tried on the skirt and it was too big. :woohoo: I have to go exchange it tommorrow.

Well wouldn't you know it next week is spring break and it feels like I am coming down with a sinus infection. I am going to take Benadyl and see if I cant knock it out. I have to go to bed now. I keep having to correct my typing. Later.

Lisa

mom2alex 03-02-2006 08:19 AM

Good morning! What a week - I just want it to be over. LOL

Well, I figure that I have (hopefully) guaranteed myself some weight loss this month - I gave up snacking after dinner for Lent. LOL Truly a sacrifice for me, as that is my weakest point in the day.

Anyway - just wanted to pop on and say hi! I'm off to exercise, shower, and my 3 yr. old is begging to play Candyland. LOL So off I go - have a great day everyone!

mamabear272 03-02-2006 09:13 AM

Lisa, You're right! You had it harder than me! I can very easily not go down LaGrange St. You kind of have to go to school!! I hope you were able to have strength! Great news on the skirt!! :cheer: WTG. I had the same thing last night...I bought a nightie a while back and when I tried it on it was really snug. I ran across it last night and tried it on and it was still snug but just barely! I was so excited!! Great feeling isn't it Lisa? I'm so used to things being too small so when they're too big I get all happy.

Jenn, I know what you mean about snacking after dinner. I have stuff within my points but I still need the snack. I usually have a No Pudge brownie or a small bag of FF popcorn. I am giving up chocolate for Lent...not gonna be easy but that's the point right?

I so did not want to work out yesterday. AF is here and I really didn't feel great. I was all crampy but I worked out on the elliptical and I felt really good after I did it.

Well I'm off to the shower. WW meeting this am. Hoping for good news...

Take care all.

Molly
