Does It Ever Get Easier?

  • I see that there are a lot of you that have lost a great amount of weight. SO do you remember when you first got started? Tomorrow it will be a whole week that I have been doing this and I don't want to whine but it's hard! Does it ever get easier?
  • Hi Sue....it does get easier
Hi Sue...it does get easier. Sometimes...lol. I find that the longer I do good and the better results that I see, the better that I do...and then the easier it gets. It's always harder when you can't see the results....that's why so many of us lose control when we plateau. We get bored and can't see any results for our hard work. That makes it tough. That's why I started my fitness journal....so I can see what I am doing. Even if all I see is that i am increasing my weights by 5lbs in strength training. Know what I mean?
    Hugs,
  • Definitely gets easier. Once you get in a routine, and get to know what YOUR body needs to do to lose weight, it's easier. It gets difficult when you plateau, but as you go along you get the mental strength to deal with it, and to keep going.

I have had my measurements taken since the beginning, and that's incredibly motivating. Sometimes I suffer from what I call "sticky scale syndrome" where the number stays the same for weeks, but my clothes get loser and loser, and my meaurements go down.

Try and have more than one thing you measure your success by, and take photos!!! I love looking at my before and during photos!
  • My body craves working out now. I actually, dare I say, look forward to it????
  • It's always hard at the beginning; your body is in shock and just refuses to change its habit. But once you start see results, and stop feeling exhausted after working out, it does get easier.
  • You guys are doing awsome! Keep up the great job you are doing. I was making myself work out 3 times a week and wanted to work up to 5 times a week but then I got sick and didn't go for 2 weeks and got out of the routine so now I feel like I have to start all over!
  • Sue, some plans are easier than others. At least that is what I believe. What plan are you following for your weight loss? For me, counting things is really hard. Limiting food is hard (when I'm hungry). Limiting food when I'm not hungry isn't hard at all. But some plans leave you more hungry than others, and then it IS hard.

The plan I'm following now is wonderful, I'm never hungry and unable to eat to satisfy it. Plus it works really quickly. That rapid change on the scale makes me so excited that the rest of it doesn't feel hard. The first day or two is a little difficult, but once they are past, it is really pretty easy.

I'm doing low carb, what plan are you doing?
  • Sue, it does get easier. It's hard until you start seeing results but just stick with it. And, I agree about having more than one measure of success (i.e. the scale). Go by how you feel, your energy level, how something fits differently. Those are all signs of success. Hang in there.
