Week of Sept 5th

Good Morning all!!!
Jackie--Sending prayers your way!! Post and update as soon as you can!!
RR

JackBlack 09-05-2004 11:36 AM

Hey RR, thanks for the prayers. So far we have beautiful weather here in the Panhandle, but that should change as the holiday weekend progresses. We are just waiting to see where Frances will make landfall again. This is the part that sucks about living in Florida!

I'm sorry I have not posted in a while. I had my cervix biopsy last Monday and I just felt bad the rest of the week with all the stuff that comes after that etc. They will have the results in a couple of weeks. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything will turn out okay.

We are hopefully a month or two from moving in our new house. House is moving, but not fast enough. We finally found a trim man and he is to finish this week. Then we just have to have our kitchen counters tiled along with the bathroom counters and tubs. Then get our final inspections, yeah!!!!!!

Hello to all the rest of ya, hope your having a good holiday weekend.

Rabbit 09-05-2004 03:18 PM

hi all. Happy Labor Day weekend.! So hard to believe it is September.

Just a moment to check in - I'm in the middle of cleaning out the hot tub. It needs to be drained every 3-4 months.

RR - I loved the latest picture!

Jackie - hope all is well in your part of Florida. My dsd is in the Ft. Lauderdale area and she is fine.

hope everyone is doing well -

Rabbit :)

Hi Guys,

Finally feeling better here. Just as of today. I hope no one else gets it. It took 5 days to get over. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Eating hasn't been so bad because I haven't been able to eat!

The work is coming along on our house. They did our roof in ONE day. There were about 12 guys up there. The driveway needs paving and the backyard needs sodding. They are supposed to be done on Tuesday. We'll see. I do have a couple problems with their work, I hope they don't give me a hard time. I will be here alone. DH has to go out of town. :(. Our neighbor has offered to run interference for me if it's needed.

Jack: Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope you don't get a flood. I haven't watched the news all weekend so I'm out of the loop. I was thinking about you today while we were discussing the storms with our neighbors. Hoping that you were out of the path!

I hope ya'll are having a super weekend!!

Hi All!

Sorry I forgot to tell you all I had a wedding today, so I didn't have time to get on here and unstick/start/stick new thread. Wedding was nice, it was on a boat on the Hudson River in upstate NY. It was pretty simple & casual, but nice. I knew the bride, but no one else, not even the groom! I did meet the bride's brother years ago, but that's it. Peter stayed with the IL's and had a great time...surprisingly. He doesn't spend a lot of time with them, so i was worried that he'd melt down. They said he didn't cry once! Of course why would he? They took him to the mall for a Mrs. Field's cookie!

Tomorrow is cleaning day...we've got a lot to do, since we were busy yesterday and today.

Karen, Cool that you're getting all that work done, bet it looks great! Glad the bug is passing and you're feeling better too.

Rabbit, Glad your DSD is OK!

Jackie, Glad you're OK there too! I haven't watched the news much the past couple days, but I hope Frances is staying away! Hope everything is OK with the biopsy.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

PS, we've narrowed down some names:
Brian, Jack, Michael, William...and we agree on all of them!

RoadRunner 09-05-2004 08:32 PM

Glad all is welll Jackie!!Glad UR feeling better Karen!!

Well, AF was a week late and I was actually hoping "OOPS".. Dh and I were excited about the prospect of maybe being pg again..I guess that means that I really dont want my tubes tied huh?

Lauren--I like William Michael Dale...My son was gonna be Andrew Jacques(pronounced Jack--that is the way DH's dad spelled and pronounced it)But, I got Kaylee!!!   It is soo much fun to put her hair up in little pony tails with bows!! It is finally long enough!!

Well...off to take some advil since I think the ole uterus is gonna fall out any minute!!!!
Hello all!!! Rabbit--I would get in that hot tub!!!
RR

LBH 09-06-2004 10:26 AM

RR, "AF was a week late"...does that mean she showed up? :(

Rabbit 09-06-2004 05:12 PM

Happy Labor Day. Hope everyone is enjoying it.

Lauren - I like the name choices. We have 1 more girl coming and 1 boy. The boy's name (the last time I heard) will be Logan James. (my brother's name is James).

RR - the hot tub is all set again and we were in it first thing this morning.

Rabbit :D

KarenK 09-07-2004 08:46 PM

Hi guys,

OK, the work being done is beginning to hit a few snags. We parked the car in the driveway to see how it was gonna fit in the new cutout. (there's a steam roller and a bunch of rocks in the new part so we couldn't fit in the car). The car WON'T FIT!! It's not long enough. Ugh. And DH is out of town for the next two days so I have to deal with the guy. I talked to him on the phone and supposedly it's no problem. We'll see. They didn't come today because it was raining this AM. It's supposed to rain for the next two days. We'll be lucky to get this thing finished by next week.

OK, sorry about the book!! I guess I just needed to vent.

I am such a bad mommy. I made Alex go to bed at 7:30 tonight. I was so tired. We had to get up early to take DH to the airport and he only took a 1 hr nap. I needed the break. I hope this doesn't mean he's getting up extra early in the AM!!

Lauren: I love the name Jack!! If I get preggers again (I'm beginning to despair. I know, I know. We've only been trying for three months. I just get so disappointed everytime AF shows up and she's here now.) and it's a boy Jack is one of the front runners. How are you feeling and how's work? Going good I hope.

RR: I hope you are feeling better today!!

Rabbit: Oh I'm so jealous. We would love to have a hot tub. Sounds like fun.

Eating wasn't the best today. We had Mac 'n cheese and fishsticks for dinner. Yum! It was easy and that's what I needed tonight.

I hope everyone is having a great week!!

midwife 09-07-2004 10:38 PM

Hey guys~
I have been way too busy the past few days....sigh...I would like for things to slow down but they are just getting started. Where did summer go??

I had fast food 3 times this weekend after going 6 weeks without it. It wasn't really worth it, not for the time, the taste, the money, and definitely the calories. Also I did not have time to exercise, so needless to say the scale is not my friend today.

I saw a Halloween challenge on the misc clubs board and I think I will join. Or maybe we could have one here. I want to be in the low 170s by Halloween...that is about 15 pounds...a little less. Challenges motivate me.

Here is to a new day, a new challenge!

Jen

morrigan 09-08-2004 10:02 PM

I vote for Jack. We would have used it, but I got Anna instead ~ plus my cousin has dibs on it because that is her father-in-laws name.

Cute picture with the goat, we took Wil to the county fair, pony rides and everything.

Haven't been around all week. First week of school, I have been crazy busy. Gained all the weight I lost, trying to lose again. Bought a journal - a write with a pen kind of thing since I haven't had time to get to a computer.

Also, signed up for the SWAC (Sandpoint West Athletic Club) Olympics. There isn't really an East Sandpoint, the town is too small; I think they just thought it sounded better than SAC. Anyway, here is the deal. You work out 8 times, then meet with a coach for a goal session and a free water bottle. Goals include cross training, working out in an area of the club you don't normally go, enthusiasm, dedication etc... Meet you goals by November 19th and you get a free swac olympics shirt and plus they have 3 medals for each area of the gym with good shwag like heart moniters, workout clothes, lance armstrong stuff, dinners out, etc... The best thing for me is just getting some incentive to work out. I had my gym membership on hold and haven't been there all summer.

Areas to consider: pool, weights, cycling, court sports, group exercise, aerobic machines, and spinning.

Kids doing good: trying to stay away from my folks for a while; I had dinner their 5-6 nights in a row while mom was watching the kids, I was at school, and my dad was being driven nuts. The kids drive him nuts if I am there everyday; but then he calls and complains if I stay away more than two days in a row. My mom said to come whenever and just head home before dad gets off work.

Day 2 of the olympics: rode my bike to school (about 12 miles), first ride since Anna was born. I have a sore butt and blisters on my hands.

morrigan 09-08-2004 10:07 PM

Oh, and I teach math. This year I have 3 sections of Geometry. Mostly 9th and 10th grade, but some Juniors and Seniors.

LBH 09-09-2004 11:49 AM

Morrigan, WOW, that's a lot of miles for the first time in a long time!! Nothin' like jumping right in, huh? Take it easy! Good for you joining the Olympics though!

Jen, Ugh, that's a lot of fast food, but I've been there...and felt like crap afterwards! Hang in there, you'll get back on track! I think I will start a Halloween challenge, good idea!

Karen, Hope they get the driveway figured out w/o much hassle! So did Alex actually go to sleep at 7:30?! Did he sleep through/wake up extra early?
I know you told DH you wouldn't stress about charting and all that, but maybe you should chart for a couple cycles, just to make sure you've got O date correct and all that?
I'm feeling pretty good, work still sucks, and it's only getting worse. :( But it's only for about 2.5 more months...hopefully we can find a way for me to not come back, but I don't know.

Rabbit, I wish I could soak in a hot tub some days! the most I can do is sit with my feet in it for now. I make up for it by sitting in the sauna for 5 minutes or so after swimming.

Have a great day all!

KarenK 09-09-2004 03:11 PM

Hi guys,

My driveway still sits in limbo. Ugh. And, there is a crack in my kitchen ceiling from something they did while doing the roof. Double ugh. I've got a call into the handyman. Hopefully it won't be a big ordeal to get it fixed. At first I wanted them to fix it, then we decided that we would get the handyman. He does good work and we know it would look nice. Their work I'm not so sure about. They didn't come today because it was supposed to rain...it hasn't rained. They could have worked most of the day. The other two days I understood, it was raining in the morning. Now I just want this over with. My backyard is knee deep in mud. I have to take the dog out in front on a leash to use the bathroom. She doesn't understand to poop in the front yard. I have to walk her around a lot before she finally goes. I made the mistake of letting her out in back yesterday morning. She had orange mud all over her feet. I wiped them off and thought I did an ok job. She went into Alex's room and now his carpet is orange!! I will have to rent a steam cleaner after the sod is down and there's no more danger of her tracking in mud.

Sorry for the whiney book!!

Lauren: I bought the ovulation predictor thingee the other day. The one where you pee on the stick for 10 days. We'll see what happens. I have no idea when I O. I'm only going to try for a year. After that DH is going for the big snip. He doesn't know it yet, but he is!!

Morrigan: Don't kill yourself on the first day!! That makes it hard to follow through on the next day!! Good for you for getting out there and getting started!! Go girl!!

Hope everyone is having a great day!!

LBH 09-09-2004 04:08 PM

Ugh, Karen!! Sounds like you're having a horrible time house wise there!! I would definitely let the roofers know about the damage, regardless of whether or not they're fixing it. We're borrowing the IL's steam cleaner this weekend to do our carpets. Geez, from one extreme to the other, huh? No baby, snip! :yikes:

Rabbit 09-09-2004 07:16 PM

hello all.

Karen - I like the name Jack also; I have a nephew with that name. ~ Sorry about your driveway issues!

Lauren - thanks for setting up a halloween goal! ~ No, there's no hot tubbing for you for awhile. How are you feeling? Everything going well?

Morrigan - cool that you signed up for the swac thing. ~ Geometry. oh my.

Rabbit :)

LBH 09-10-2004 11:06 AM

Hi All,

Rabbit, I'm feeling pretty good, he's starting to move around a little more now. Was driving me nuts, not moving much! I've gained a total of 10 lbs., so the MW is happy. No problems other than occasional swollen or achey feet.

Karen, Do you know anything about Plainfield or Scotch Plains, that area?

LBH 09-10-2004 12:02 PM

Jen, I saw your post on the challenge thread, but i didn't want to clog that up, so I'm responding here...Good for you watching your portions and skipping the bread and butter! Of course now I'm DYING for baked ziti, bread and butter, and yeah, even the salad!! :lol3: Awesome on the running too!

OH, this is totally off topic, but do any of you know anyone that is/was breastfeeding and has a Medela Pump in Style Advanced that they would like to sell? I have the older PIS version, but it's been through 3 kids, and I don't think it's that efficient. I would really like the newer one, but I don't have the money to spend on brand new. I'm willing to pay for a used one though!

Rabbit 09-10-2004 12:22 PM

hello.

Lauren - glad that you are feeling well! ~ I'm no help on the breast pump issue.

I started a new weights program this week that my trainer worked out for me and I've been sore! I know that is good. One day is was my shoulders, yesterday my upper arms and tomorrow I think it will be my legs as that was the focus today. I'm so glad I changed my program. I'm sure I'm using new muscles and also the old one was getting boring. :strong:

Rabbit

KarenK 09-10-2004 01:05 PM

Lauren: You can use mine if you want. I have, hmmm. What do I have? I think it's the PIS. It's hardly used. I would want it back if I get pg, but since I'm not even there yet, you would have plenty of time to use it. You would just need to buy your own tubes and horns. I even have the car adapter thing for it. It's in great shape. Let me know.

LBH 09-10-2004 02:24 PM

Thanks Karen, I'll let you know. I really want the PIS Advanced because it's got this new let-down feature that's supposed to be more efficient. A friend of mine is borrowing my PIS now. I have all the tubing and stuff.

Rabbit, at the aquasize class I did the other night, she really kicked out butts! She had us laying back on the noodles and doing crunches and I really it! I mean, not as bad as regular crunches, but effective. Of course I sat some out, because I didn't want to hurt myself, but I do have to work out my abs a bit, to help with labor, and towards the end of PG.

morrigan 09-10-2004 06:02 PM

Couldn't help with the miles since it is one way to school. It is about a 300 ft drop in elevation, so it was downhill or flat most of the way. Haven't got a work out yet today, we'll see. I have 3 under the belt so far. Tonight a bonfire :)

I hate pumping - it must be the crappy breast pump I own. I am gone for about 4.5 hours each day, so Anna (3 months) gets one bottle of formula each day while I am at work. That works well for us. She is still getting plenty of breast milk because she is gaining well.

Rabbit 09-10-2004 06:09 PM

Lauren - great that you are able to exercise while pregnant. You're probably right about it helping. I knew you had joined something but didn't know you were doing classes. And you go with your mom, right? I love water aerobics. They're fun.

Morrigan - you're having a bonfire tonight? Cool.

Rabbit

LBH 09-11-2004 09:12 AM

Hi All,

I just got back from the animal hospital, I had to put my cat to sleep. I tried soo hard for soo long to find a solution. Nobody wanted a 10.5 y/o cat w/behavioral issues. He started pooping not just outside his litter box, but also in Peter play area. It has become a health hazard for us, so I had to. He was perfectly healthy. I had never put a perfectly healthy animal to sleep. In a way I feel guilty, but I know it was the right choice and I had to do it. My only other option was to drop him off at a shelter...if they would even take him, and within a week they'd do it, if he wasn't adopted. The ones I called said they couldn't even adopt out a 5 y/o cat. I'm pretty upset right now, but I'm OK with my decision. Now I have to clean out the litter maid and everything else. We're going to steam clean the carpets later.

Sorry to start Saturday off on a negative note...hope everyone's having a great weekend.

midwife 09-11-2004 10:39 AM

Oh, sweetie, I am so sorry...It is very hard to lose a pet no matter the circumstances. You are right that the health of your family is the most important thing. <hug>

Jen

KarenK 09-11-2004 01:53 PM

Oh Lauren, I'm so sorry about your cat. I know how hard it is to loose your pets. I still miss Pixie and she died almost two years ago. {{{Hugs}}} I'm glad you are OK with the decision. I wish there were more no kill shelters.
