Week of August 15th!!

Hi All,

Hope everyone's having a great weekend! We went to my niece's b-day party last night, she'll be 10 on Friday. Time sure flies! I was good, had 2 small slices of pizza and some salad. I did have 2 cans of root beer, but I almost never drink soda, so that was a treat for me. I only ate a few bites of the cake too.

Wednesday is the big day, we go for the U/S to confirm it's a girl! :D  OK, I hope I'm not too disappointed if it's a boy. I don't think I will, at least not for more than a few seconds, but I am silly worrying about these things.

Hey Lauren~
Enjoy your ultrasound! I have learned that depending on who does the ultrasound, it is reliable or not for gender. I have caught many a baby who's gender was not what the parents had been told to expect. :o Sooooo....bring something yellow to the hospital for the baby to wear home just in case. :p

My kids had Wendy's for lunch today (their grandma got it for them and brought it home). I am so proud cause I made myself a chicken sandwich with pickles and tobasco and I did not snitch a single fry! (My problem is once I snitch one, the rest are history too).

Going running tonight. :snail: GO, go, go!!

Jen

LBH 08-15-2004 07:15 PM

Jen, GREAT for you going running!! Good for you not snitching any fries! You're a strong woman!! With Peter I remember the U/S tech saying something like, congratulations, you're having a turtle! And then explaining that with boys, it looks like a turtle and girls is just 3 lines.

midwife 08-15-2004 11:34 PM

Or sometimes for a girl it's the positive hamburger sign... :dizzy: Let us know how it goes!!

Afternoon all! It was a big food weekend for me because I went on a vacation. You all know how it is when you're on vacation. No rules! So I have to get back on board. I'm going running tonight too Jen. Hopefully we don't pass out! ha ha. Happy Monday everyone.

hello!

Thought I'd pop in to say hi. I'm taking ds back to school later this week and then off on a business trip with dh so August is still crazy for me. In September I should get back to normal.

Lauren - exciting that you will find out on Wednesday! :)

hello to everyone.

Hello to all!!Drummergirl--vacation can be havoc to the diet!!! It is too humid and hot to do any excercise outside here..I cant wait for cooler weather!!

Any change of venue seems to reek havoc for me. The last two concerts I ate and drank way to much. Especially Sunday, it was a wine tasting night before the concert. There were about 30 Pacific Northwest wineries handing out free samples to wine that ran 15-60 dollars per bottle. After drinking that much wine I certainly don't watch what I eat. Yesterday wasn't much better. My weight seems to be creeping up and not down. I was 198 this morning and only have 4 more days before the long bridge swim which is a race I do every year (1.78 miles). I am doing it, but it will be very slow considering I have only swam 1/2 that distance twice this summer.

Jen: I totally admire your getting out there to run! Way to go!
Lauren: Ultrasounds are so cool, congratulations!

LBH 08-17-2004 02:20 PM

OK girls, I hereby instruct everyone to wear PINK tomorrow!!!! I need all the girl vibes I can get!! OK, I know God has already determined if it's a boy or girl, but still!!

midwife 08-17-2004 05:38 PM

I'll wear Pink!! and that way, even if it is a boy, he will be in touch with his feminine side. :p Go Girl Vibes! Go Girl Vibes!!

I forgot to ask: How was your run, DG?
Jen

LBH 08-18-2004 12:09 PM

It's another boy. :( I'm happy, but will admit that I'm pretty disappointed too.

midwife 08-18-2004 12:58 PM

Oh, Lauren!! I know how it feels to be happy and bummed at the same time. There is an attachment that happens, in your dreams and your imagination. Congratulations on another son! :cb: (The positive banana sign!! :) )

The dissapointment will fade fast with the arrival of a new baby. Our motto lately Remember the newest baby is always the most perfect. Congratulations!

drummergirl 08-18-2004 06:41 PM

Sorry it wasn't a girl Lauren. But just consider yourself lucky that you are pregnant. We've been trying for 8 months now with no luck. I'm sure you'll love him regardless.
Hi Jen. My run went well. I'm going again tonight after my doctor's appointment. I have to get my yearly physical (fun!). I've been limiting my meat intake and working out so hopefully my cholesterol has dropped from 230.
Take care ladies.

LBH 08-19-2004 08:10 AM

Hey Ladies, I'm feeling better about the boy thing. I'm happy that Peter will have a little brother to play with. Yes, I still want my girl, and maybe someday I'll get her, but for now, I'm happy.

DG, are you charting or anything? I was amazed to find out how regular I was when I first went off the pill and started charting! Fertility Friend is a good place. Hope all was well at your physical!

Have a great day all!

drummergirl 08-19-2004 11:01 AM

Morning. LBH-yes, i'm charting and finally getting the hang of it. My physical went well. I had a good chat with my doctor and turns out a medication i'm taking is well known for making people gain massive amounts of weight. I need to take this med but I don't want to keep gaining weight. Not sure what to do.
Anyways, almost the weekend folks so enjoy your day.

morrigan 08-19-2004 11:02 AM

I mostly wanted a boy when I was pregnant with Anna. Scot (DH) thought he saw boy parts on the ultrasound. I should have discounted it since he thought the umbilical cord was an ear. At any rate, we didn't find out until she was delivered. When the doctor said, "It's a girl!" almost everyone in the peanut gallery (I had quite a crowd in the delivery room) jumped up out of their seats and had to check, like the doctor had made a mistake. And my first thought was, "Oh my God, I am going to have a teenage daughter." I was also hoping for the kids to share their room, which I am still considering. My mom shared a bedroom with her brother till she was 14 and lots of people in other countries do. Right now we are all on our 3rd floor master bedroom/loft until the kids are old enough to be in the basement bedroom alone.

Two good days, this is an amazing thing. I haven't been able to have two days of controlled eating in ages. Here is to day three.

RoadRunner 08-19-2004 08:41 PM

Congrats Lauren--I am with DG --you are truly blessed!! I would have paid any amount of money in the world not to have lost the 2 angels I did...Plus, U have the clothes!!

I have been doing ok diet wise..very depressed lately about being old, not successful in another pg, 2 step kids, etc etc..I have decided to go part-time and spend time with the angel that GOd has blessed me with before she grows up!!I need 1 day off during the week without everyone else for my sanity...

Have a great evening all!!!
Off to read THe Wiggles Book!!!

My best friend got engaged last night (my DH set them up - dragged her kicking and screaming over to meet him after a ski race last February); and now she has a wonderful guy and a huge rock - in a gorgous old fashioned setting - that wasn't bought on credit. I am so happy for them :) :) :)

Celebration Girls Night Out Dinner tonight - I am going to try to be good, maybe salad and wine, or perhaps tequila shots?

RoadRunner 08-21-2004 06:20 AM

Morrigan--sounds so romantic!! Hope U did not succumb to the tequila shots and paying for it this morning!!!!

I am on my way to "Market"..I am soo excited..Never have been but I heard there is stuff for days!! I want to get all my Christmas shopping done today!! The only excercise I will document today is swiping of the credit card!!!!  :coffee: :coffee:
Have a wonderful day all!!!
RR

LBH 08-21-2004 10:03 AM

Hi All,

Morrigan, hope you didn't "torture" yourself too much last night!

RR, Have fun! Christmas shopping!! Geez, I can't think that far ahead...I don't start that until at least December!! :lol3:

Peter had a 24 hr. virus I guess. He slept horrible Thursday night, ended up in bed with us. About an hour after I dropped him off at daycare, they called to tell me he had a 102° temp. I didn't believe it could be that high...they use forehead thermometers, so she took it again, it was 99.x°! So I said I will bring ibuprofen and my own thermometer. It was 100.9 rectally. He was really whiney and just not "right" so I brought him home and called DH to come stay home with him. (It's easier for him to get off.) I decided to make an appt. for him, since it was Friday, and DH took him in. She said his ears were crystal clear and everything else was find, it was a virus, just take him home and give him lots of fluids. So that's what DH did. He slept most of the day and I gave him more ibuprofen when got home and he woke up...because he was burning up and DH didn't think to give him any!! By around 7:30 he was a new kid, appetite back, ate 1/2 can of chef boyardee shells and meatballs, a bunch of cold grapes, and gatorade. He went down without much fuss at 8:30. Slept most of the night, except for a short span at 11:50 or so. At 7:20 he woke up with a very full diaper!! I changed him and put him in our bed with DH because I had to pee, when I came out, he was asleep again, so I left them for another 1/2 hr. or so! DH is still in bed!!

Hope everyone's doing great!!!

morrigan 08-21-2004 03:38 PM

Sick kids are no fun, sorry you had to day that.

I didn't party too hard last night (can't since I am nursing), as a matter of fact, I made out with 1330 calories. Anna kept me awake almost all night, and I did the long bridge swim this morning. Needless to say, I am pooped.
