Hello everyone! I'm new here!

Hi everyone! I'm new here although I have lost a lot of weight one other time in my life. I was in my early 20s then and now I just turned 31 in May so I think I might need a lot of support this time :D

I'm tired of feeling unhealthy and out of shape, and of being tired all the time even without doing very much during the day. I want to feel energetic and young, especially now that I've hit my 30s! I'm also worried that if I don't change my lifestyle now I'll suffer from health problems as the years go on.

I weighed myself just before my birthday and was 277 lbs, which was a shocker... and puts me at the morbidly obese category, which is terrifying. I began trying to eat better in the week after my birthday and in the past couple weeks I've tried to slowly incorporate some exercise with some old aerobic videos. Last week I bought a used stationery bike and now I'm determined to spend time on it everyday!

My current goal right now is just to lose 10-20 lbs and feel like I have more energy so I can begin thinking about going for walks outside or going to the gym. As it is, I feel extremely self-conscious about the way I look and how easily I get so tired... but I'm really looking forward to getting stronger and lighter and feeling more comfortable in my own skin!

Thanks everyone for reading this and I wish you all the best of luck on your own fitness goals! :cheer2:

Welcome! You will do great. This is a really supportive site.

Hi! You'll do great. Don't be too self conscious. I fall into the same trap on occasion, but honestly, nobody else really cares. (I mean that in the best possible way!). They are just going about their own workouts. Besides, even if someone saw someone working out and thinks mean things about them clearly that person is an jerk, and who cares what they think! You do you, and let everyone else pound sand.

Your post could just about be mine, though I prefer weightlifting and rowing for my exercise. I lost 80lbs back when I was about 23-25...it was hard, but very doable. Had a relapse, and now I"m starting over again. It is a little harder now, for me it isn't so much harder physically, because even though I've gained the weight back I'm still a lot more fit than I was, but I just have other things to do, lol. So I'm focusing on not being so "hardcore". Back in the day I'd work out for hours at a time and really limited my food, and tried to lose weight as fast as possible. Now I try and focus on being sensible and being content with small steps. As long as I see a downward trajectory I'm happy.
