Default Jump starting weightloss

I recently turned 31 and realized that it's taking twice the effort with half the results to lose weight than when I first started losing in my mid-twenties. I consistently lost about 10lbs a month for the first year eating sensibly and exercising regularly. Now, I've been regaining and losing the same 10lbs for more than two years.

I currently use Sparkpeople to track my calories (1200-1700 a day) and exercise 5-6 times a week (burning about 500-600 calories a day). I'm seeing results after a month, but just wonder if this is a age-related struggle. Any suggestions for a jump start?

It is most definitely age related! I have to make a much more concentrated effort to lose just one pound. Our body changes and responds differently to our old tried and true tricks. Stick to it though. It will take more effort and maybe a little more time but you will see results.

If I'm understanding right, you weigh 317, are 5'9, eat no more than 1700 calories a day with exercise 5x a week (-500 calories) and have been gaining and losing the same 10 lbs for 2 years??

If that's right, That sounds frustrating and something must be really off. If you're sure that's all the calories you're getting in and you're weighing your food, I'd head in to your dr for some blood tests. That's a huge deficit and as I'm sure you know every 3500 calorie deficit, or so, you should drop a pound.

Would you feel comfortable or would you find it helpful to share an average day in your diet? Maybe that could provide some clues

Congrats on your 103 pounds lost so far! That's awesome!
