Sigh, is it still only me battling the 180s? Up and down I go from 181-186. Today I'm 183 but I'm committed to sticking to my calorie allowance on MFP for the rest of this year.

Nope you are not alone The first day I got a glimpse of the 180's was August 20th and I'm still here. Lol

This mornings weigh-in was 181.2. I find I've become complacent and am not as diligent about good choices now that I've come this far. My choices aren't exactly bad it's just I'll splurge on what I want as opposed to what I know is the better choice for me.

I feel the same way. I get back down to 181 and think to myself that I finally have it under control. It doesn't take more than a day or two of 200 extra calories and not exercising to pet me up a pound or two. I think I've been battling the 180s since March!

I said I wasn't going to weigh myself again until Dec 1. But, I was feeling really down about my body fat %. There was a health fair at work yesterday and my readings were 38 and 38.5% fat. I've been tracking on my home scale and a scale at the gym since 2006 and it hasn't been that high in over 2 years. So I gave in to temptation and hopped on the scale...after breakfast and after my shower, with my hair still being wet. Today's weight was 181.6 and 35.7% body fat. I'm disappointed that I couldn't go 4 weeks without checking and relieved to see my body fat% drop.

Hey Gretel,

Have you tried switching up your exercise routine? Sometimes the change in routine is the best way to shock your body into losing weight. When I hit a plateau, I always find ways to challenge myself until I can break through a couple of pounds. Then I relax a bit and go back to my normal schedule until my body gets used to its new set point. Then I power through harder classes and training sessions when I get stuck again. I know time is a precious commodity, but maybe you could see if you can squeeze in something new. Like a kickboxing class once a week or something... Good Luck! And you will get out of the 180s! I know you can!!

Hi Learning 2 Live - I've heard that same advice from a couple of people. But, I think I'm actually spread too thin, trying to do too many programs at once. I won't give up what I'm currently working on when I try something new, so I keep adding to the list. Earlier in the year, I was focusing on running. And that makes me super ravenous so I was constantly eating too much. I walk my dog almost every morning, bike to work when I can, do any one of the JM dvds I own, and follow the NRoL4W program. I'm also doing Pilates and I've tried spinning. I do a little bit of swimming in the summer, when it's warm enough outdoors. But I also take breaks that stretch out far too long. I didn't really lift from March until September. So right now, I'm only worried about finishing the new rules program.

I'm currently in an unintentional rest week (thanks to a killer cold my 2-yo gave me) and I think NRoL4W is working it's wonders during my rest week. I'm not running much right now, only as intervals with the lifting. And I'm watching my calories much better than I have since I was pregnant. I'm still trying to figure out my BMR and TDEE. Nothing is straight from the text book if you know what I mean.

HI Gretel! How does the lifting work at home? Are you doing it at home or at the gym?

Ross111104 - I've done both, but right now I'm only lifting at home. I have two sets of 1" dumbbells, a 1" barbell with various plates (2.5 pounds up to 25 pounds), and a weight bench. I can do 75% of my New Rules of Lifting for Women workout with just those items. I can't do pull downs or any cable exercises. I still need a step and I have (but haven't used) a pull-up bar for the doorway. My only major modification is that I don't have a squat rack so I have to be able to lift the barbell and rest it on my shoulders. Since the book gives options, I'll do dumbbell rows instead of the rowing machine type rows. I really like my setup because I can use my rest time by jumping on the computer. Sometimes I get distracted though and my workout takes forever. I have more weight plates and a plate rack on my wish list.

Wow that is awesome! I belong to LA fitness but I go early in the morning to a spin class(just started going back today). I just don't really like the big gym feel. I like lifting weights but don't want to do it there because I always feel like is is such a social place. I.E. folks looking at you... trying to hit on you... girls putting on make up and the tightest clothes they can find to go work out... it just not my scene. But it is so close to my house and I am so pressed for time that it seems like my only option. So I guess I won't be lifting heavy anytime soon huh?

Ross111104 - I used to use a gym at work and there were only a handful of people early in the morning. It was really great for these workouts. Unfortunately, I can't get there at those times now that I have a little kid. And the gym cut hours so I didn't even bother to renew my membership. If you want to lift a little, there are dumbbell workouts / body weight workouts that you can do anywhere. I'm still working on basic push-ups and planks when I lift. All dumbbell workouts are effective and it doesn't cost too much to do.

Yeah very true... you know I really want to do crossfit. I will probably never get to do it though unless 1. they open a box near me and 2. I get rich somehow because it is SOOOO Expensive! LOL! You are awesome for doing all that stuff at home though.

So my daughter woke up early and interrupted my morning walk plans, so I decided to weigh in since my schedule was already messed up. And today, I finally saw the 170s! 179.6 this morning! 23 days straight of accurate calorie counting on myfitnesspal and I think I can finally admit that my stall was mostly my own fault for being too lazy or too complacent to check my calories daily. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and see how far I can go until the next stall. I'll keep an eye on this thread, but it's now time to join the 170s thread too! I hope to see everyone over there soon

Hi. I'm new to the forum, 30 something and starting off in the 180's. Anyone else still around who's in the 180's?

Hi Jubilee, welcome! I've been on a long hiatus, but am trying to get back on the wagon. Yesterday I was 188.8, didn't weigh this morning as I went way overboard with the NYE festivities last night.

Thanks for the welcome, Audri. I've been hanging around in the Chicks In Control area after having just "discovered" my binge eating problem. I've been doing pretty well so far, but am a bit nervous that it may be just beginner's luck!

Here's to a new year and getting back on the wagon!
