Hi - just popping in and out with a quick update on my weekend.

This weekend was no fun for me. First, I admitted defeat from a sinus infection and finally went to the doctor on Friday - started antibiotics right away. Then, my 17 month old daughter spiked a very high fever Friday night which just wouldn't come down, so we ended up at the ER last night. She still has a fever but is starting to eat and drink more. Yesterday, I went over my calories with the intention of weight lifting in the evening. I didn't know I'd spend hours in the ER instead. I am recovered enough to start exercising again. I just hope my little girl starts feeling better ASAP!

On the good news side, my 5k for Saturday was postponed to March 2nd thanks to the snow. This is a blessing in disguise because I was in no shape to run. And I'm down another 0.6 pounds this week to 190.4. I'm trying not to be disappointed with that number because I have eaten more than my plan and haven't exercised in a few days.

I had a trying day at work today and as I was driving home I thought this is the kind of day that I would just eat a bag of chips about three weeks ago. But the new me instead decided to stick within her calories

Ross - LOL, that is a problem then

gretel - Wow, you had quite the weekend! I pray that everyone is on the mend now Congrats on your loss!

I took my nephew to Pump It Up. It's a great workout. I wore my heart rate monitor because I knew it would be. Sure enough, I burned 1096 calories playing with the kiddo for 2 hours. That's as much as running 10k! And that kid had an absolute blast!

And I brought a snack along because I'm a prepared auntie. And the kiddo liked my low-cal snack as much as the junk he's used to. (5 calorie berry flavored water and special K 100-calorie pack pastry crisps. He thought it was juice & cookies.)

Very fun and successful day!

1096 calories! Oh my goodness! That is fantastic! Your heart rate monitor tells you how many calories you burned? Is it like a watch?

I know you are right. I managed to maintain last week through the Super Bowl party and 2 other events. I was very strict every other day surrounding those days too. With my old way of eating, I would of GAINED last week. It is a small victory. Thank you for reminding me of that.

I am not sure if you use it, but when I am planning meals, I find pinterest to be so helpful.

Skinnygirl - Sounds like a great Valentine's day to me

Chubby - It's not a real gain if it comes right back off. Glad to hear you are feeling better and jogging 4 miles. NICE JOB!

Laura78 - Preplanning always helps me with those types of events. And kicking those chips to the curb? Well done you!

Gretel - I hope your daughter is recovered? Glad to hear your 5k was postponed. We ended up with only 12 inches of snow (I say only because they said a possible 18 inches of snow!)

As for me, I exploded at my husband tonight. We have an elliptical and a treadmill in our guest room and the agreed upon schedule is that I exercise Monday and Wednesday and he exercises Tuesday and Thursday. On a rare night where we both exercise, he agreed to be done by 8pm. We try to finish exercising earliy-ish because the noise is unfair to our neighbors, and because who wants to eat dinner at 9:30 at night? Tonight (A MONDAY AND MY NIGHT) apparently he got a late start because he procrastinated. Whatever, then you get off the machines at 8PM, because that is the deal. I was very frustrated, because the hardest part for me is to talk myself into exercising and there I was standing outside the door in my sneakers and workout gear, waiting. I ended up doing 30 minutes on the elliptical (the quieter machine) and eating a reduced calorie dinner. But this is not at all a compromise nor the ideal situation. Btw, you should see the snitfit he throws if it's too late to exercise or his dinner is too late for him. I reminded him of that. We had quite the heated chat. Meh.

@ Ross- yes, accurate calorie burns is ALL I use my hrm for. I know it does some fancy stuff but I dont care. If I had a dollar for every time I worried about my heart rate during exercise I would still be broke, lol. But as a calorie counter I do care about knowing my exact calorie burn so I know I'm taking in less than I use. Mine is a Polar Ft4 and it's worn on the wrist like a watch but it does have the chest strap sensor. But it's so comfortable you dont feel it, just sits right below the band of my bra. I did my research and went with a good brand for accuracy. Went with a model without all the bells and whistles I won't use to keep it in my budget. I paid for an extended manufacturers warranty in addition to the store's. And still paid under $100. I must say, I'm glad I got it because many exercises don't burn as much as I thought they did. Myfitnesspal overestimates their calorie burns by as much as 30-40%, yikes!

Wow that was long. You prolly didn't intend for that to be an essay question, lol.

Chubby- no that is exactly what I wanted to know. I want to get one. I didn't even know they could do that! So is the chest monitor wireless? Where did you get it from. I am going to talk to my husband and see if I can invest in one.

Laura - That's great info re: your moniter. I would love one as well.....but not sure of wearing a wrist watch to work each day. Do you have to wear the watch?

KTB - That's soooo frustrating! But I am so impressed that you still pressed on and didn't use it as an excuses not to exercise at all.

KTB - Isn't it fun coordinating workouts with the husband sometimes? I know how you feel about needing to work out on a schedule, and it sucks when that's interrupted - especially for procrastination. I suggest some weighted hula hooping to make you feel better (I bought one this weekend = love it!).
