Default Newbie, but thirty (something)!

Hi everyone I've been lurking a while.....just recently reading the confessions thread, and feeling all too familiar! I'm on my own little journey (journey #2). I once weighed 220lbs - about 10 years ago, and eventually got down to 139. I maintained for quite a while, in the late 140s and was pretty happy there. However, over the last two years, my weight has been steadily climbing, despite constant effort (at least mentally) to make it go the other way. I exercise tons, and will be doing my third 1/2 marathon in two weeks - but I've only gained weight (an NO not muscle). I'm sitting pretty at 177lbs as of this morning....would like to get down to the 140s again. Although if this were the confession thread, I'd say 130s (smile!).

You guys seem great, and I'd love to get to know you all better. I could totally use some support/motivation along the way! I'm hoping to be a much thinner version of myself by Christmas. I'm not sticking a number on there just yet....

Anyhow cheers! Great to meet ya!!
Heather

Hi Heather! Wow, your third half marathon?? One of my short term goals is doing a 5k. I'm a TERRIBLE runner, so this would be a pretty big thing for me. What kind of training do you do to prepare?

Welcome and wishing you all the best on your weightless journey.

This site is making all the difference to me this time around,so I am sure it will for you.

Looking forward to sharing your successes.

Lakilaulea - have you ever considered power walking? Most running races tend to have a walking race as well. I am doing my 2 nd 10k race this weekend. I'm not that fast - but some of the people I walk with, out walk a large number of the runners. - it's also a good place to start. My aunt has run a few ultra marathons and she started out as a walker!

I have attempted several times to start running and want to complete a 5k. I have gotten as far as buying new shoes and getting an app for my phone. I would love to get insipration from the people here. Who understand how I feel. I am super excited to get started.
