I was going to the Salvation Army all last fall...and to other thrift stores in my area...buying whatever was new..
The economy is bad in my area, so on Fridays and Saturdays they have 5 pieces of clothing for $5. Of course I could not find 5 pieces all in my present size, so I just bought whatever I liked in any size smaller. It is very difficult to find extra large sizes...but they are just loaded with smaller sizes. Now I have loads of boxes full of new clothes. Labeled size 8,10,12,14...etc. I have enough clothes to last a long time. And I spent very little. :belly: |
I love that idea, buy it now box it up with sizes on it and it is ready for when you need. The next time I am out shopping I am going to start looking for find in other sizes. Thank you for sharing that!:D

Another good place is Craigslist and Ebay. Sometimes you can fine great deals on a whole lot, not just one item. I love Marshalls and TJMaxx! Last year I found a pair of Michael Kors jeans on the clearance rack, regular price $98, Marshalls price $29.99, clearance price $14. I buy smaller clothes all the time especially if the price is too good to pass up! ;)
2 of our thrift stores has half day mondays (everything is half price), I will have to go there soon! LOL |

This way too, when cravings and binge feelings hit I go stand in front of my closet. What's more important... the fried chicken? Or that cute beaded tank? I do only allow myself to buy 2 sizes down at Goodwill, though. When I hit 10 I'll limit that to one size down, I'll probably never be a 6 and I just don't need to torture myself that way. |
good thread.
like most of you i shop at tjmaxx, kohl's, and target. when i was going up the scale i was shopping at thrift stores b/c i didn't wanna spend a lot on a bunch of "big" clothes (14-16). i haven't done much shopping now that i am a 10ish, but that's because i have a lot of size 10 clothes already. i did recently get a pair of size 8 jeans on clearance at tjmaxx for $15 and the only part that doesn't fit is the length! :) that happens all the time tho, things are always too long on me. i may just cuff them or maybe splurge on having them hemmed. i still havent worn my new size 8's out b/c i'm almost scared to "jinx" it. i know it sounds dumb but i really feel like wearing them before i'm really ready is gonna make me feel pressure or make me feel fat b/c i have gotten used to the good feeling of my clothes being too big. :crazylady: anyway i think i will be belting some of my bigger dresses to create a waist and make them last a little longer. i guess until i reach goal i will just shop at thrift stores (25% off thursday's) and maybe a cute clearance item here and there. i'm not getting rid of my larger sizes either, i'm just folding them up and putting them in the bottom drawers (just in case). |
I do not have the kind of money to buy new clothes for every size I drop. I goodwill it, and ebay it. Once I'm done I resell them on ebay.
