Hello again! I've been a very bad girl the past 2 weeks. :/ gained 6 lbs. d'oh! But I'm back again, finally stopped the downward spiral. I started running too - I always forget how much I enjoy running. Getting up & outside is the hardest part but once on the road I feel better. Well, I need to lose 2 more lbs to get back to my weight from 2 weeks ago. I hope everyone is doing well. Glad to be here & re-focused. I find that if I don't weigh myself & stay away from 3FC I start binging/gaining weight. Y'all keep me honest, so thanks.

How is the IF going, mrslynah? So then do you work out before you break the fast or after? You said at the end so I assume before you eat anything. I would think that would be really difficult.
I'm just going to ignore the 6lb thing because that's not any fun and focus on the running. It's great that you've rediscovered running, Dolly!
Once again, I weighed in at 158.4. Third week running. And it's not like things were moving at a breakneck pace the few weeks before that.
I know that all I have to do is be patient and things will work themselves out but it's just so hard to be patient! And it's making me question everything: Do I need more protein? Fewer carbs? More carbs? More fiber? Am I not eating enough calories now that I am weight training? Do I need to do the Hokey Pokey and turn myself around?? Possibly naked under a waning gibbous moon whilst singing We Are The Champions? What gives?!

Hahaha. The hokey pokey!
So, here's my IF update. Today is my 6th day of fasting from 9pm to 1pm, with an 8 hour eating window. The first several days were great. Tuesday and Wednesday, not so much. :/ So here's what happened. I kept my fast on both days, but I was getting really hungry, to the point of feeling like I was going to vomit. Tuesday I pushed through it, even got my workout in- which I do at the very end of my fast, then eat protein immediately after. Yesterday, I was so hungry I didn't even think about working out. When it was time to break my fast, I decided to go to the cafe next to my office which has a- get ready for it- buffet. Ugh. A buffet. is. never. a. good. choice. ever.
I ate my entire day's worth of calories in one sitting. I couldn't stop. Then, I got SO sick. I went home and basically threw up the entire meal. Yuck. Then, I was in a funk, because I didn't feel good and I didn't know whether to count all the calories after being sick. I ended up eating a ton of carby/ sugary snacks and eating a normal dinner. I was SO happy for the day to be over!!!
Now, I'm back at it and doing fine.
I think that eating carbs in the evening before my fast leads to being hungry during the fast. Big surprise, right?
So far, since this weekend, I have lost one pound. That doesn't feel like enough. However, I have also been working out and seeing some changes in my body, so I think I may be gaining muscle mass. This Saturday, I will get my official one week stats. I'm hoping for a 2 lb loss and a couple of inches.
I should add that I was struggling with feelings of being overwhelmed and upset with my husband yesterday, which ALWAYS plays a part in binging for me.
I decided to forgive myself and just count yesterday as a learning experience and a high calorie day to keep my metabolism on its toes. We'll see how that works out on the scale!

Geez, that sounds like a bad day all around. (I hope things are calmer with your husband.) Good for you though for your attitude! Forgiving yourself is hard and you should be so proud of yourself for doing so and seeing this a learning experience. IF is an interesting way of doing things and I'm curious to see how it really works in practice. Seems you've hit a few really big speedbumps there but if you keep tweaking it and learning hopefully it will work well for you!
How many calories are you eating? Do you know your macronutrient breakdown? I'm just curious.

My net calorie goal is 1200, so with my workouts, I eat closer to 1500. As far as a breakdown, it really depends on the day.
I use a fitnesspal app, and it basically does calories but doesn't break it down much more than that.
A sample day when I was fasting:
1pm- (post workout) one ounce of 75% reduced fat cheddar cheese cabot.. 60 cal
1:30pm- Chick fil a chicken nuggets (pressure-cooked in peanut oil, if you aren't familiar with the restaurant) 260 cal
taboule, hummus, and 1 serving of wheat thins- 265 cal
Dinner- 6 oz rotisserie chicken from Publix, coleslaw, baked beans.. 700 cal
Dessert before fast- vanilla light frozen yogurt, chocolate syrup, nuts, and 1/4 banana. (This was my first real sugar since the beginning of the fast three days earlier, and it was to DIE for! Lol)
Cardio: 30 min elliptical -350 calories
Total food: 1585 cals
Workout: -350 cals
EDIT: Looking at this now, I notice that it looks like i did not have any vegetables that day, but I actually had cucumbers with my hummus, but didn't add them to my app. Other than that, not much in the veggie department. This is not typical for me, but maybe bc I was focusing so much on trying to get protein.
Net calories: 1235

I finally saw 155 today again for a brief moment, then suddenly, I ate mexican. LOL

Whew, only about 1 more pound to get back to my pre-binge weight. Man, you would think I have finally learned my lesson by now. > I hate re-losing weight! But the awesome thing is this weekend I have a bunch of super fun out door activities planned! 2 seriously fun hikes & golfing! I love summer - so much easier to do stuff. Of course it's going to be nearly 100 degrees but I'll get a great tan too. happy Friday everyone!

That's awesome DollyMichele I'm sure you'll have a great weekend!!
My pre-TOM bloat and water retention went away right when TOM appeared, and took an extra pound off with it too. LOL I saw 154.4 on the scale this afternoon after my bike ride but I won't get too excited.
I still logged it in as 155 which is what I saw this morning, but here's to hoping the weekend treats me well, and I resist temptation.
I have to pick my sister up at the airport on the 31st, I'd love to be at 150 by then. Ha! Here's to dreaming!

I agree you could have had more vegetables that day, Mrslynah, but you already beat me to mentioning it. The only thing I could think of would be more at-home cooking. I don't know much about chick-fil-a or publix but I'm always more leery of dishes I buy vs. make.
Congratulations, novangel!
I'll be hiking this weekend too! Hope you have a good time, DollyMichelle.
Caramelkitty, if you aren't there by the 31st you'll certainly be awfully close. Good luck.
As for me, I've been having fun playing around with recipes from emilybites.com. I plan to bring the lasagna wonton "cupcakes" and zucchini tots to a Eurovision party tomorrow. I tested them out this week and both are absolutely delicious! (Tonight I'm trying her Asian Chicken and Vegetables with Peanut Sauce. Should be nummy.)
I'm trying to focus more on what I'm eating instead of what the scale says. I can control what I put in my mouth. The scale is far less directly controllable. (But I'll defeat the scale - I'm not giving up yet and to my knowledge I have no unique physics-defying powers so eventually it'll have to give in! It is ON! )

Thanks love!!! It really means a lot!! xo
I'm sorry............................did I really read lasagna wonton cupcakes?! I must check this out. I'm a baker and anything with the word cupcake in it makes me excited!! LOL
& Yes, you most definitely will win the battle against the scale. I feel like it's a love hate relationship. You hate it for a while, then you suddenly wanna kneel down and kiss it! LOL

They're just made in a cupcake pan. They're delicious, pre-portioned, portable, and adorable. What's not to love? They're totally my new favorite thing. http://www.emilybites.com/2011/07/lasagna-cupcakes.html
She has recipes for cheeseburger, buffalo chicken, taco versions and a bunch of others as well.
Incidentally, the asian chicken recipe I mentioned turned out great. I had no idea I liked broccoli slaw so much!

I hate water retention! My body used to be really sensitive to sodium and the not so much (I think when I had a 6 day a week yoga practice) but now it's sensitive again. Ugh. Well off to drink tons of water and see what happens!
