It's been a while since I updated on this topic so I appreciate all of your replies! Yes, my husband could stand to lose some weight himself so he does need to learn about portion control and snacking. He's been cutting back the non-stop happy hours with his friends and that's helped a lot. But I'm still at a loss as to what is a good portion for him versus a portion for me. We're learning slowly. We cooked for Thanksgiving and he kept sneaking extra butter into every dish "because it's the holidays." Well the holidays are gone and we are stuck with the butter-ful leftovers sabotaging our diet efforts. Now he learned that maybe so much butter wasn't necessary since the dishes were tasty to begin with.
I don't mind if he makes me feel guilty for eating more because I have a hard time controlling myself sometimes. I've asked him to remind me and help me keep my portions and workouts in line. I've spent years dieting and sabotaging alone so I like that I have a buddy now. I need all the motivation I can get. |
I don't have a husband. However, my roommate/former boyfriend/current best friend and I live together and since I am home on disability I cook meals for both of us. So maybe I can answer this question even though I don't have a Husband.
Anyway, Dexter is really easy to cook for. The only difference is he likes meat more than I do-- but on the nights he has Tai Chi and the weekends he has drill I usually eat vegetarian, although during the past almost 8 years I've slowly changed his eating habits. But yeah, he's really easy to cook for and really loves my cooking-- and I would not cook for ANYONE who wouldn't cook for me, so though his cooking is usually limited to spaghetti, he is still willing to cook. Its just easier for me to cook for both of us-- besides, I LOVE to cook. And he's definitely into healthy eating, just like me. And its nice because you can really tell when he enjoys it. He always compliments the meals but when he REALLY enjoys it, he compliments it about a million times. So I can cook pretty much whatever. |
