I am in the middle of setting my mini goals and was wondering what are some of the best mini goals rewards you give yourself? What has been your favorite mini goal thus far in your journey? And at what increments do you reward yourself? 5lb? 10lb? 20lb?
Mini Goal Rewards Are A Great Idea . I Lost About 100 Lbs A Couple Years Ago ,now , Back On Diet, Need To Loose About 40 More, Anyhow:
Whenever I Lost 10 Lbs I Would Buy One Nice Clothing Item, And Give A Big Girl Item To Charity.. Now I Have Nothing To Grow Back Into .
When I reached the halfway point, I got a brand new cut and highlights. I went from shoulder length curly dishwater blonde hair - to super short, straightened blond streaky locks. It was funny how many people noticed my weight loss more and told me how young I look!
When I get to "wedding weight" (20lbs to go) I plan on going to a specialty lingerie shop and getting some new bras.
i'm doing 10% of my weight for my first mini goal which will be a tattoo and then probably 25lb marks after that, either another tattoo or some clothes
Once I reach 200 I'm getting blond streaks put in my hair. It's a darker shade of brown, almost an oak shade, you might say. Then at 180 I'm gonna get a manicure or have a spa day. And at 160, I'm headin' to the store for a whole new wardrobe!!!
This is a great idea, and I have been reading about setting mini-goals lately. It is something that I need to do to stay motivated, so thanks for bringing the topic up, JHawk! I've been thinking about it, and I think that I am going to set ultra-mini goals, maybe 5 or 10 lb increments. I need to have something tangible to help me keep things up. So I was going to set goals for every 5 pounds, such as buying a new sports bra or piece of workout clothing, rewarding myself with some new iTunes downloads, to listen to while working out, etc. When I lose my first 20 pounds, I'll do something a bit bigger, like buy a heart rate monitor or something.
I'm going to make my little lists right now, thanks for the push to get going on it! Maybe if I put my list of goals and rewards in my food journal, it will help because I will see it all the time.
I love some of the ideas that are coming out of this thread! I think I am going to take the 10 lb increment approach. First 10lbs maybe some new makeup or perfume. At 20 lbs I am hoping to host a girls gathering at my house *thinking jewelry party - all girls of all sizes can always wear jewelry*. At 30 lbs I would like to do the spa day - how fun would that be??
Anything more than 30 I think I will start giving away the big girls clothes to charity so that I force myself to maintain. I weigh in on Monday this week so maybe some new l have some rewards in my future...cross your fingers! Keep the ideas coming - I need them for over 30 lbs!
Not necessarily a goal reward, but as I "outgrow" (undergrow) an item, I've been trying to get rid of it. I've noticed a bunch of us are doing that. Clothes that fit just right are a reminder to keep on track. If I gain any, I notice right away...having "wiggle room" in clothes makes it too easy to cheat...
I find it is so hard to really to get rid of my old clothes! Also hard to do the mini goals but that is one of my goals is to do both of those. You guys had some really great ideas for the rewards. I was thinking of vacation or haircut but I do those all the time so I just am also having a hard time thinking of stuff to get myself
So I weighed in and hit my first 10 lb goal so I went in for a nice, relaxing pedicure. I am sticking with the 2nd 10lbs goal with a jewelry party. Can't wait...good luck ladies!
My goals have to do with weight, behavior, and exercise milestones.
For example, if I can get through the grocery store without getting any impulse buys or junk, I get a magazine of my choice.
I have a long list of music that I would like to upload to my iPod. Every time I reach an exercise milestone, I get to download a new song and add it to my workout playlist. It's cool, becuase every song tells a story- there's the song that I bought for myself when I made the committment to lose weight, the song I got when I finished week 1 of c25k, etc.
For actual weight loss goals, I have a list of small-to-large goals. For example, when I reach my goal weight, I'm going on a cruise. That's my BIG treat. Between now and then, I'll get new shoes, new dresses from stores that I've only ever dreamed of shopping at, small mini-vacations, etc. Smaller rewards like new running shoes are also on my list, as well as some books that I've been wanting to read and some hiking gear that I've been wanting.
