The 30-Something "Official NSV Thread"

People post their NSV's all over this site. So I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to us 30-Something ladies to report our NSV's.

Anything goes, anything that makes you happy with yourself or your progress can be put in this thread. I just love hearing about everyone's progress, but I hate stumbling around the site to find everyone's posts.

So I guess I'll start with my latest NSV which happened just a little bit ago at Victoria Secret. When I started my weight loss journey I was wearing a 38DD bra. Lately they've been hurting me because of all the extra room, so I figured that I would go get measured and fitted to see what size I actually am. I actually got sized down to a 36C :carrot: That's huge for me because even as a young girl I've always had a large chest. So this is my latest NSV, I can't wait to read all about yours.

I live in Chicago and ride the bus to work. I always went into a panic when someone went to sit next to me. I would scrunch up as close to the window as possible and my thighs would still graze theirs. Now that doesn't happen!!! It is such a nice feeling to not have anxiety over my commute.

My pants are falling down!

And.. when I was doing crunches at the gym today I realized that there aren't two big fat rolls between me and my thighs anymore!

I would say the day that I did not feel like I had to throw up in kickboxing class.

When I first started I could not get through the class because I was so out of shape I couldn't breathe and I felt nauseous.

Now I get through the class (not easily because the instructor still kicks my butt). And the newbies are watching me in shock.

No more breaks to run to the bathroom because I'm queasy

It feels so good!

And Shytowngal. I have to agree with you. I just told hubby this the other day.

It felt so good to take up only 1 seat on the train. And to not get those looks from people thinking, "there's no way I could fit next to her".

I just got back into my "skinny" bra size (36C). I had topped out at 38D (and that was tight for a while)....I won't even say what my maternity and nursing bras were.

The goal is to get into a 34B....I haven't seen that since pre-teen....

In light of my pants falling down from last night, I decided to go "jean-trying" today, I wasn't planning to purchase, I just wanted to find out if I could fit in a size 10. Well, I tried on the 10 and they had some room in them so I said, oh what the heck I'll try on an 8... AND THEY FIT! An 8!! I haven't worn an 8 in about 8 years!!! So of course, "jean-trying" turned into "jean buying" because I just couldn't leave a single digit size pair of pants in the store that actually fit me.. so here I sit posting them and wearing them.

SIZE 8!!!!!

Hopeful8 05-19-2010 01:27 PM

Sarah- That is absolutely amazing. My goal size is to be in an 8. I'm in a 12 right now and I think in about another week or so I'll be going and looking to see if the 10's are now fitting. Congrats girl, I'm so happy for you :D

AFChick 05-19-2010 01:43 PM

Sarah: WTG!!!! That's awesome. I haven't seen size 8 since right after field training (basic training in ROTC) when I was 18. I'm jealous, but will be joining you or perish trying...:)

My NSV for today was being able to do speed intervals without feeling like puking or having to add an extra walk time...and I've been upping the speed.

I was doing them 3.5mph (1 min), 5.5mph (30sec), 6.0mph (30sec), 6.5mph (30sec), 7.0mph (30sec), repeat for a total of 10 sets.

Today, I did 3.5mph (1 min), 6.0mph (30sec), 6.5mph (30sec), 7.0mph (30sec), 7.5mph (30sec), repeat for 10 total!. And on the last 2 intervals, I did the last minute in 20 second blocks so I could throw 8mph in there...all without flying off the treadmill...even when the scale's not nice, the treadmill is treating me well these days...:)

I was told that I have "perfect form" by one of the bodybuilders at the gym when I was doing barbell squats. It made my week.

My measurements have changed faster than the silly scale. Hips were 52, now 42. Waist was 47, now 36.5. I can't believe ny waist started out bigger than my hips are now! I average an inch or so off of each every month, regardless of what the scale tells me.

Yay, us!! We are all finding joy in our healthy lifestyles!

AFChick 05-19-2010 05:56 PM

MP: 10 inches lost in both waist and hips! Awesome!!!!

I was so inspired by Sarah's NSV earlier today that I went to the mall and picked myself up some new sexy jeans SIZE 10!

Rebound 05-19-2010 11:20 PM

I'm sleeping significantly better now that I am working out and eating better. I usually don't notice these shorts of things, but I am definitely falling asleep faster, sleeping more soundly, and waking up feeling more alert and more rested.

That's a NSV for sure!

Hi everyone... way to go! I don't post in this section very often but thought I would add mine if you don't mind...

I recently bought a 2 pack of XL yoga capri's from Costco, took them home, tried them on only to discover they are too big! Last year I wouldn't have even bought an XL because they would be too small.

I've been doing the C25K program and a few nights ago I was able to run for 20 minutes straight. I NEVER thought I would ever be able to do that!
