Popcorn
really how bad is popcorn to snack on?
i make it with my popcorn maker using canola oil and then a little melted butter and salt. i read the package but can never understand really how many calories is in one cup of popped popcorn. any suggestions on it. is it ok to snack on or should i try to stay away from it? |
I have a hard time understanding the nutritional info also. But I snack on it a lot and it cures my hunger and keeps the pounds away lol I don't add anything extra to it though. I think if you add extra stuff with extra calories it'll soon add up to the calories of a full meal

I love popcorn. I can't have it any other way than plain popped in a paper sack in the microwave and then with butter and a little salt on it. Daily Plate says 1 oz. of unpopped popcorn is 105 calories and 1 T of butter is 120 calories. If I have it once in a while I don't think that is a bad snack at all. Like ChunkySmoo said, it fills you up too. I would use one or the other, oil or butter, not both.

I found a 100 calorie mini bag popcorn, low fat , just enough butter and salt to satisfy it's by Orville Redenbacher and it's microwave. I love this stuff and don't feel guilty when I snack on it.

Have you ladies ever tried using an air popper for popcorn? Talk about a healthy snack!

I get these too, I love them.. the butter and salt is just right and I know I can eat the WHOLE BAG (which seems like a lot) and only get 100 calories, which is a lot more satisfying than one of those 100 calorie snack packs with 5 little crackers in them. Thats like eating crumbs. It just makes you want more! |
I second the air popper with a bit of olive oil cooking spray(0 calories) and salt! YUM-) Very low cal. :)

If you have insulin resistant, are pre-diabetic or diabetic you should stay away from anything corn, but if you're not it's usually a pretty good snack. I miss popcorn.
