  • I just wanted to see what everyone likes to listen to/get motivated by when they work out. I just recently got a treadmill and have it in our office so I can jam songs out of the computer to keep me pumped and energized.....wanted to put a 20-30 minute mix of great get up and go songs.....
sooooo.....Any suggestions? My goal is 5 more lbs by my birthday at the end of the month!

    thanks!
  • I am so glad you posted this! I have been looking for up songs to add to my ipod. I liked to use it when I am walking and am also up to change my music!

Why type of songs do you like? I can listen to just about anything.

My DD loves old skool stuff and thought of Queen , Another one bites the dust and also We will Rock you. And she thought of Cyndi Lauper's Girls just wanna have fun.

Right now I also have All American Rejects, Gives you ****. Brittany Spears, Circus and Womanizer. Jason Mraz, I'm Yours, Lady Gaga, Just Dance and Kevin Rudulf's single on my ipod.
  • There was another thread on this a few days ago & I was not surprised to see how many people had Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" on their iPods & MP3s. I've found that to be infectious. Some of its power is wearing off, now, but I still recommend it for moving to.
  • Here's a few. I like fast tunes for cardio; can't listen to music when I'm lifting weights, it throws my counting off

    Bootylicious - Destiny's Child
    Circus - Britney Spears
    Crazy in Love - Beyonce
    Hey Ya - Outkast
    Poker Face - Lady Gaga
Show Me the Way - Peter Frampton
    Single Ladies - Beyonce
What You Waiting For? - Gwen Stefani
When I Grow Up - Pussycat Dolls
    Womanizer - Britney Spears
    Pon de Replay - Rihanna
Jump, Hung Up, Sorry, Ray of Light - Madonna
Reach up for the Sunlight - Duran Duran
    Vertigo - U2
    Breathless - The Corrs
Gimme Some Lovin - Spencer Davis Band
Boys of Summer - The Eagles
Can't Get You Out of my Head - Kylie Minogue
    Still the One - Orleans

ETA: There are quite a few threads on workout music with great suggestions; do a search and you'll come up with lots.

  • I love to work out to Kanye West, Eminem, and the Grey's Anatomy soundtrack really seems to get me going.

    Karen
  • I find my favourites to be:
God is a DJ (astral projection mix)
Who the F*** is Alice (Wonderland mix)
HappyFeet OST has some groovy songs
    DJ Sammy
    Ian van Dahl
    Paul Oakenfold
    Guns and Roses
    Old school Metallica
Musicals- War of the Worlds, PotO, Jesus Christ Superstar
    Sarah Brightman
Rolling Stones Top 500 (a fantastic collection of classic rock)
And lots of classic rock (Lynard Skynard, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, etc etc)

I'm not into cookie-cutter music (a la Eminem, Kid Rock and Britney Spears)- the beats drive me up the wall.

    Cheers.
    Mollz
  • oh wow...I just started working on a list for my MP3 player and I have some of the songs listed above and so much more.

I too am a fan of different genres & someone listening to what I put on mine would probably wonder what in the heck was wrong with me. LOL

I like "old school" hip hop in addition to some of the newer rap/hip-hop stuff they have out now. I like stuff that makes me want to jump up and dance.

    All time favorite...FOOTLOOSE!
  • Footloose! Awesome! I as well dont really get into the cookie cutter music Mollz.....the other day I put a songlist of fast songs up to see what motivated me, and Led Zepplin did the trick, also ACDC's Its a Long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll!!!
And also me being a big fan of WVU marching band, I have a lot of their cadences and such downloaded, and that REALLY get me kickin!
There are a lot of songs on here I didnt think of, thanks for sharing everyone!
  • One of my favorites is I Will Survive by Cake...I usually put it in the middle of my workout...when I feel like I won't survive!! I also like My Humps by the Black Eyed Peas and I Kissed A Girl and Hot N Cold by Katy Perry...good beats! And just to show that I do have a weird selection, I warm up (every time) to Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard by Paul Simon! Something about the whistling really gets me in the mood to work out!
  • Hot N Cold - Katy Perry
Hate My Life- Theory of a Deadman
Bad Girlfriend- Theory of a Deadman
If U Seek Amy - Britney spears
    Lace and Leather- Britney Spears
    Circus -Britney Spears
    Shattered Glass - Britney spears

and more I like a mix of music sometimes it depends on my mood.
  • Meredithann, you are not insane. My iPod Shuffle for exercising includes "Loves Me Like a Rock," "Call Me Al" and "I Know What I Know."

I always liked classic 70s soul, so I have a lot of that. "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" and "The Theme from 'Shaft'" are particular favorites. (The latter is particularly good for a treadmill workout.)
  • Britney Spears for sure! I am currently loving 7 things by Miley Cyrus
