Diana- I also weigh myself daily. Often multiple times per day. I started a 'diary' type word document called the D*mn Scale and I write my naked night and naked morning weights in there. I do it for ONE reason- to learn about trends with my body. For example, I now know when my period is coming based largely on weight gain- I get a push up the scale of 1-2 lbs. Sometimes there will be a weird, unexplained gain.

By tracking I've learned how to freak myself out less about it. When it happens I can tell myself "AHA! I've seen this before and it usually takes x number of days to go down- no need to panic!"

I know that my obsession with the scale is a little nutsy. However, if you (like me) find you just can't refrain from weighing each day, you could always start your own 'weight TRENDS' document. Note the importance of the phrase trend. You are trending up or trending down. Our bodies are a puzzle and the more we can understand it in a clinical way, the better we can program it.

A 'gain' of 0.4 is so small that it could be that big glass of water you drank 20 minutes before. Lots of different reasons it might go up. I've certainly had days where I expected to see a downward motion then didn't get it for SEVERAL days after and then see a sudden 2 lb. drop. It doesn't just fall gracefully off the scale in a machine sort of way. Sadly!
