Stuck at 250! Help!
Hi! I am so glad to have found a community where we share a common purpose to get from fat to fit. However, my journey hits a snag...for the last 3 weeks I am stuck at 250 lbs.
I am eating 1200 cals a day tracking it on dailyplate.com Also, with the water turning cold I can no longer go swimming like I used to. Help! What can I do to shake this inertia my body seems to have gone into!!!! |
Uhmmm. Suggestions for activities?
Activities on your own? or group activities? Is money an issue? How about a walking club? Or Yoga? Tai Chi? Aquafitness? Oh! I just noticed you're in Scottsdale! I love it there! It is sooo beautiful. I just looked up the YWCA & YMCA and there appears to be a YM in your area. In my city the Y is way more affordable so that's where I go. |
You know, you may need to eat more calories than 1200 to lose weight. If you don't eat enough calories your body goes into a starvation mode and holds onto everything so you can't lost weight. I've seen this in my own body. One time I ate about 1350-1400 calories for a two weeks and didn't lose anything. Then when I upped my calories, a few pounds came off really fast.
My guess is that you should need at least 1400 or 1500 calories per day. |
If you can, go for a walk every evening, or whenever is the best time for you.

The thing is, if you don't eat enough to fuel your body, you can slow your metabolism down to the point that you stall your weight loss ... and then make it harder to lose more because your metabolism keeps ramping down. Find out what your maintenance calories are at your current weight and drop those by 500 calories or so per day. That's a much healthier way to lose than a drastic reduction. . |
