Hi everyone.

Rabbit, Ouch on the dental surgery. I am hoping that you are feeling better soon. I am sure that there are easier ways to keep yourself out of the easter candy :-)

Tech, Sounds like you had a good time in Florida. I bet that warmth felt good.

Lyssalou, Sorry to hear about H's job. That has to be causing some stress.

Jul, You sound busy! Take a deep breath and take it one thing at a time.

Night all

Hi all!! I'm back and with all my limbs still attached. Well, I did it!! I faced my fear and took a two hour ski lesson with the other two girls that went with us. After that I felt great and spent two days skiing all the green slopes. Still wasn't brave to try any blues -- didn't want to push my luck. I was so proud of myself!! Man, that was some exercise. We skied all day Friday and Saturday and my legs are still a little sore. Sunday morning I could barely move -- we were all walking like we were 100 years old. Having two other beginners with me gave me a lot of strength and courage to try. Thanks for everyone's advice!!

So now my one last fear/phobia that I still haven't conquered is singing karaoke!! I've never been drunk enough to be able to stand in front of a bunch of people with a microphone. DH is the only person I can sing out loud with and he loves to karaoke. Not me though!!! One of these days I'll beat this one too! :)

I behaved myself extremely well up until the last day. That morning me and DH hit the breakfast buffet (only buffet I went to) and I loaded one plate with greasy food and one plate with fresh fruit. I only cleaned the plate with the fruit on it.:D That night we went to an all-u-can-eat sushi restaurant. $20 per person and you could have anything you wanted. It was so good!!!!!!!!!!!! And I ate so much!!!!!!!!!! I stepped on the scales this morning and it was up 4 pounds from before I left.:o I'm hoping after a couple of days of eating OP I'll be back down to normal. I'm thinking it's from the last day pigout and also all that sodium/soy sauce I had with the sushi.

Lys, great job on the loss!!! Sorry to hear about the worry with DH's job. That sounds kind of screwy.

Nanci, great job on the loss for you too!!! I'm jealous!!

Jul, have fun on your trips. FL weather should be great for you.

Bailey, bummer on the ER trip. I hope you're feeling better. You're supposed to clean under the stove????

Rabbit, ouch on the mouth surgery. I can relate to having a sore mouth. Luckily (knock on wood) right now all my canker sores are gone and I'm able to eat with no pain.

Lauren, good luck on your audits. I hope all goes well for you on them.

Tech, I'm glad you had a great time in FL. I heard the lines were really long over Easter weekend (2 hr waits for all the rides). Hopefully you managed to miss all that.

Hi to everyone else!! Glad to be home and back to normal but I did have a great time. Even managed to win $50 playing BlackJack. :D

Rabbit 04-03-2002 12:50 PM

HELLO. Well, I feel much better today, but the mouth is still tender. They had to remove a muscle that was pushing my 2 front teeth apart - youch! I had numbing shots above my 2 front teeth (2 shots) and then 2 more on the roof of my mouth. I decided I was never going back again (yeah right). During the stitching up on the inside of my mouth, I began to feel it and had to have MORE shots. So I'm eating ff pudding, sf jello and some cake!:D Monday I get the stitches out.

Tech - welcome back! Glad you enjoyed your trip.:)

Lyssa - that payback thing sounds screwy to me! ~ Hooray for figuring out what works for you. ~

Jul - good luck getting ready for your trip! You can do it.

Nanci - yes, I agree, there are probably easier ways to stay out of the candy.:D

Liz - hooray for conquering a fear! Glad you had so much fun skiing. ~ I think I'd have to be in the right frame of mind to do the karaoke thing. ~ Woohoo on winning $$$.

have a good day.

Hello all!

No one probably remembers me, but I did post here for a little while! Things got wonky for awhile, and I stopped posting (I also stopped loosing! ) . I never stopped reading, though, so I have kept up w/ you all. No, I'm not a stalker, I promise! Will post on the bio thread as soon as I get a chance, adn maybe that will trigger a memory of me from someone (not that I'm so unforgettable or anything! :p).

After reaching my all-time high of 192 lbs after quitting smoking (gained 30 lbs in 3 months), I was able to get back to 174 and stayed there for awhile on a several month long plateau. Between Thanksgiving and New Year's I gained 10 lbs (while sticking to my points!!!), and since then I have gained another 3-4 depending on which day I weigh. I've got to get it under control!!!

Rabbit, owwee on the mouth! I just had some surgery myself Friday was a week ago, so I know about that. I had periodontal/gingival flap surgery and a bone graft. It's where they cut ... well, you don't want to know! Really, it wasn't that bad, but my diet has been seriously lacking good for you crunchy stuff ever since.

Liz - glad you trip went so well. I've been skiing twice and will probably never try it again. If I fall, I can't get up, and I can't turn my skis when going downhill. I just go straight down in a line! Guess I just wasn't built right for it!

Tech - glad you had fun in FL. I went one back right before they broke ground on Epcot - 1982!!! It was at Easter, too, so I can symapthize w/ the crowds! I get to finally go on vacation the week of 7/4. Am going back to San Diego to visit my best friend and her family. I haven't had more than a day or 2 off since last time I went (Dec 2000), so I am ready!!!

No time to respond to everyone else, but I am thinking of you all and wish you luck on you weight loss journey. Hopefully, I will stick w/ posting this time and it will help me on MY journey.

Later!
Lisa

Juldiet 04-03-2002 05:53 PM

Welcome back Lisa.

Well, we did it. The truck is packed, the house mostly clean. I'll do a little more cleaning after I get the boys thru bath time then let them watch a movie.

Hopefully, we'll get to sleep at a decent time (at least DH since he'll do the driving) and we plan to pull out at 4 a.m.

I may get to check in a bit if my MIL will let me use her computer. Think happy thoughts for me that I stick with my goal and don't pig out while gone. I want to come home with a 'loss'.

Bye!, jul

BigPhatBooty 04-03-2002 11:33 PM

Hey all  everytime I checked in here I meant to respond and now there are 19 replies

Easter wasn't so bad, I admit I did falter slightly - half an egg  and the smarties that came with it. I have truly fallen off the bandwagon and somehow the "click" isn't happening for me right now. However, I will still pop in here with my bare faced cheek and pretend I have a grip on reality.

Type later :D

Rabbit 04-04-2002 11:49 AM

hello all!

I've had a couple low point days - just can't eat like a :ink: once I start on real food again! Ha. Oh, and yesterday I actually had a day without Easter candy - woohoo - think I'll go for 2!

Strait - Welcome back! I am working on getting control of myself also (always!) as I gained over the holidays. ~ I am really missing my salads! I don't think I can eat them until next week - not with my salsa anyway.:) Yours sounds painful! Hope you get back to normal eating soon. ~ Your San Diego trip sounds fun!:D

Jul - Have a great time!

BPB - it is so hard to get back with it, but you can do it!!

take care all.

Rabbit

StraitLover 04-04-2002 12:28 PM

Back again!

Well, I got the last of the dreaded chocolate ice cream out of the house last night :T , so I am ready to go! So far, I've had grits (3 pts), Hormel Bacon Bits (1 pt), and sugar in my coffee (1 pt). I'm having a ham sandwich (with REAL ham, not the deli stuff!!!), RF Cheese Nips and an apple for lunch after a 20 minute walk. Gotta work in many veggies at supper!

Work is getting hairy. I'm a state employee, and we're in the middle of a budget crisis. They keep throwing around words like layoff, furlough, and pay cut - !!! It's making me nervous!

BPB - since I got my satellite dish, I have become hooked on 2 shows on BBC America, Changing Rooms and Ground Force. The ones heare are older shows. Are they still making those shows over in England? Also, I hope you get back on track, too, and post more. Even when I was lurking, I enjoyed your posts quite a bit!!

Rabbit - glad your days have been low point. My idea of soft foods apparently were homemade chocolate shakes! Luckily, it's all gone, and it's almost strawberry season! That should keep me off the chocolate for a few weeks at least! I'm not good controlling it. It's either all or nothing w/ me! :ink:

Howdy to everyone else! Drink that water!

Later!

lizzard_h 04-04-2002 02:15 PM

Is it Friday yet?? That's the bad thing about coming back from vacation during the middle of the week -- no days to recover. I did make it to the gym this morning but it was more of an hour of movement than actual working out. :) I didn't even break a sweat. Hopefully my poor knees will be back to normal by Monday. BTW, I checked the scales this morning and I've lost two of the four pounds I put on over vacation. Hopefully by Sunday the rest will be gone.

They announced yesterday that one of the other guys got the manager job. I like the guy and I know he'll make things very interesting. I'm happy with how things turned out but apparently the other guys in the office aren't. They are both looking for new jobs. It sounds like it's going to get crazy but none of it's my responsibility.:D

Lisa, welcome back. I've only been posting a couple of months so I don't have much of a past here. Skiing straight in a line is not good. That's what I did 15 years ago when I broke my wrist. I tested my stopping abilities all day this time.

Rabbit, good luck starting back on solids. Be strong!!! I love jello and pudding too but am too cheap to buy the already made kind. I found a yogurt brand I like that comes with a plastic lid so I rince out the containers and use them for making my own jello and pudding. That way I can put fruit in the jello or blend whatever I want.

BPB, keep trying. I'm faltering too right now. Can't keep out of the saltwater taffy I brought back from CA. Plus PMS is this week and I feel like a bottomless pit.

Jul, have a great time and a safe journey. Don't pig out too much but don't stress over the diet while on vacation.

StraitLover 04-04-2002 05:32 PM

I'm on my way out the door and wanted to wish you all a good weekend. I'm headed out of town tomorrow. I was going to leave work early, but I decided to go ahead and take the whole day off, so I won't be back to a 'puter until Monday. I get to see my goddaughter and her baby sister. Yay! Haven't seen them since Christmas when the baby was 3 months old. She's now almost 7 months old, so I know she will not even look like the dame kid!

Even w/ all the food my friend keeps in her house, I WILL stick to points, no matter what!

Everybody have a wonderful OP weekend!

Later!
Lisa

What's saltwater taffy? Is it any different to fat back taffy? Saw Jill Scott in concert recently and that's what her band is called :?:

Rabbit 04-05-2002 12:16 PM

HELLO!

I had a small loss at weigh in last night (1/2 pound) so I'm sure it was thanks to my dental work!:D But I'll take it.

Strait - yeah for getting the chocolate ice cream out of the house! ~ I love strawberries! I like to put them in my morning oatmeal. Also like to have them with pineapples, etc for a little fruit salad.~ have a great weekend!

Liz - Yeah for losing some of that vacation weight already!! ~ Sorry about the job.:( ~ I'm usually too cheap to buy the jello & pudding in little cups also, but if it works for me I may try it for awhile.

Bpb - sorry I don't know much about taffy.

have a super weekend!

Rabbit
OP since 4/1/02

lizzard_h 04-05-2002 01:12 PM

BPB, Saltwater taffy is a chewy candy. I found a website that explains the history/name: http://ctct.***************/saltwatertaffy_rdia.htm
It comes in lots of different flavors and it's hard to stop at just one.

Bailey, I thought of you that last night in Reno. We went to Ichiban's for their all you can eat sushi. Have you ever done this?? You order two or three pieces as you go and they just keep bringing it on. I think I ate 20-25 pieces.:ink: But it was so good and so fresh. They had to roll me out of there!!

Rabbit, good job on the loss. I'm really tired and suffering some PMS today and could care less about self control or willpower. I just want chocolate!!! Or a pillow!!

Thank God It's Friday!!!! Have a great weekend everyone. My house looks like a tornado went thru it (the flylady would have a heartattack if she saw it!!). I'll be working hard trying to put it all back together again.

TechAlum 04-05-2002 04:30 PM

Hello Everyone,

Friday's just don't seem to have as much meaning when I'm not working  , so I can't really say TGIF.

Didn't make it to WW this week we were just dragging butt on Tuesday when we got back, and I just didn't want to go to another meeting, so I have no idea what I weigh (I tossed out my scale when I moved last since it didn't work well).

Like several others I'm trying to figure out what to do about working. I need to go back to something but I'm not sure what. Wed. I went for an interview for a job I know I'd enjoy, the problem is the pay is really low (I knew it'd be less than I had been making but I was not prepared for how much less  ). Today they called and left a message to offer me the job I need to make up my mind about it. Also yesterday I interviewed to go back to what I had been doing, which I hated but which pays well, only he asked for references and I said I'd send them, only apparently they've closed up shop where I was last summer since no one answers the phones. Anyway, that's probably more information about me than you want to hear, but.....

BFB - hang in there, I haven't been doing to well myself, hopefully we'll get back on track soon!!!

liz - sounds like you had a great time in Reno. We were there a couple of years ago, it's a beautiful place. What did you think about the towns on the border where the hotels would be in CA and the casinos in NV. I found it pretty humorous. The weights probably water, I know I never drink enough water on vacation (now other beverages....)

Rabbit - Congrats on the loss, take it any way you can get it. Glad your mouths feeling better.

Lisa - welcome back! Good luck sticking to program while you're gone :) .

Jul - hope your trip is fun and profitable.

LBH - hope work settles down for you. I am also close to my highest weight ever, I don't understand how it takes forever to take it off and just seconds to put it back on.

RR - I thought of you and Refman last night while K and I were watching the "frozen four" which I was amazed to find on TV. Hope your doing well.

Pyria - Just keep reading and pop in when you can. I know that's what I've been doing.

Sorry to anyone I missed. Have a great weekend all :D :D :D
