New here! Will be 30 very soon!

  • Hi I'm Allyson and I will be turning 30 in 3 months. I'm already having a hard time with it. I have decided that if I can get rid of this excess weight then I'll actually feel like celebrating turning thirty. I started eating really healthy 2 weeks ago and doing 30 minutes of cardio on my elliptical each day and I am down 9 lbs so far! I really didn't expect that much to come off. I would have be really happy with 4 lbs but I'll take the 9.

I have a wonderful husband who is on board with me and is looking to lose some weight also. I have one beautiful daughter who is 2 1/2. We want to have another baby but I don't want to get pregnant again until I lose at least 30-40 lbs.

I can't wait to get to know some of you! I know that it really helps when you have others to chat with and vent to during the most trying times of weight loss!
  • Hi Allyson and the rest of you 30 somethings-

I'm new here too, decided I night as well join the board that's age appropriate for me

I'm 32, married with DH <read darn husband, LOL> #2, with a bunch of kids from here, there and everywhere.

I have a total of 56lbs to lose and I've ditched 9 of them already - getting ready to cross the finish line for me first 10 soon, hopefully! I'm a sorry exerciser, a vegetarian, and a workaholic.

    Looking forward to meeting y'all!
  • Me Too!!!

Hi there! I'm brand new too and will be 30 in 3 months, the 21st. Looking forward to a great community of people for support.
  • Hi, Allyson. I, too, am new here. I'll be 30 in two and a half weeks (July 2) and decided it was really time to take weight loss seriously.

I have many of the same numbers as you and realized all my goals are in 15-16 pound increments. So 15 pounds at a time sounds like a reasonable goal to me.

I'm single and kidless, but have 2 dogs and 3 cats. I show my dogs and one of my reasons for wanting to lose weight is that it will be easier to run around the ring with them if I'm lighter (and less likely to have an asthma attack). My dogs are Samoyeds, so pretty quick on their feet. I do have a little help with portion control: my five month old puppy thinks she's being abused if she doesn't get something off my plate.
  • I am almost 33 now. I had a hard time turning 30 myself. What made it a little harder was my husband decided to throw a surprise party for me. I do not like to be the center of attention, you can probably figure out why. But within the past year or so, I have begun to become more confident in myself not based on appearance or weight. So, it has actually been a good thing being in my 30s.
  • Welcome, welcome!

I'm 34 myself. I had a harder time with 29 than I did with 30, for some reason. But this year my little brother turned 30 and I realized that I *am* getting old. I just graduated from college last month, and I'm looking for a job and feeling a bit out of it.

Just wanted to say hi. Off to walk now.

    Welcome!

  • Hello to all the newbies. You will love this site. The ladies here are very supportive and it is good knowing that we all have the same issues in common.

  • Hi another newbie here...and almost 30. September 23. I am not looking forward to it either. I feel so young. I thought 30 was old when I was younger and now it is here. Crazy! I will be happier once I lose the weight to feel a real 30. Good luck to you all.
  • Hi all! Count me in as an almost 30, too! I'll be there in a little less than 3 weeks (July 15).

Briezee - what ring do you run with your dogs? Agility, conformation, or other?
