one day off sucks!
I did not want to get out of bed this AM! where are the cheese danishes?...
just kidding. I had to work Saturday and did all the housework on Sunday and the grocery shopping. (14 miles of tortuous icey roads to the Grocery store.) Kerry, sorry to hear about your crappy weekend. Did you reconcile? I am twice divorced after two unhappy marriages. Some day, when I know you all a little better, I will tell you the wonderful story of how I came to live here in the last fronteir. To answer your question from Saturday- I am a medical insurance coder. I work at a hospital in the pediatric department. I ride in to work every morning at 4:30 to avoid the Traffic from the Valley. There is only one way in to Anchorage from the Valley. There are probably 15 to 20 thousand people that come in for work every day. But our total state population is only around 700,000. Oh great! one of the doctors just came in with a home made cake! Got any will power dust? I better go for a walk. Maybe it will all be gone when I get back. Hope all of you make your goal today! |
HI everyone!
GG I hope you are OK, could it be all the stress from work last week and you may be dreading going it today? but still I don't think is a bad idea to get a check up, keep us posted. Just like ekstatikia said I like the idea of adding a little more calories and work w/your trainer, it is funny on my way to my book club meeting yesterday I heard Julian the trainer from the biggest looser, she has a radio show in L.A and we get to listen to it here in San Diego, that was one of her recommendations. :welcome3:April and shelbysmom Lauren sorry about the stress! I hope you have a great week this week! Trish sorry about your weekend, I hope you get a great start for this week! Scrapping that doesn't sound right about the 5 t-shirts, I would say something to the coach, just to prevent it from happening again, I don't understand why they would give one of the shirts to the gal that didn't play all games. Joan I am glad you had a great weekend, I love the neighborhood parties, sounds great! Pam good for you on starting the chores early! a clean way to start the week, doesn't that feel great? sorry about the snow, I don't know how you guys can live in such cold places, brrrrrrrr.... We had an OK weekend, Sean and I stayed home must of the day on Saturday, we had to run a couple of errands and he did pretty good, then dh came home and we met some friends for dinner it was very nice. Yesterday I wen to my book club, it was interesting 1/2 the group really liked the book and the other didn't. I was in the 1/2 that didn't like it, the funny thing is the once that didn't we all stopped reading the book on the same chapter oh btw they book is called the god of animals. The rest of the day was very relaxing, dh and I just relaxed and Sean was able to play outside w/out any instances! that was great! We got a phone call last night from our advocate for school and he wanted to confirm we were meeting today at 2 for our IEP meeting, well we were so happy he called, we didn't know anything about this meeting, the school district should've sent paper work on it but of course they didn't. So today at 2 we are meeting w/them. I am taking in very easy this AM. The dogs want to go for a walk really bad so I am going to put some clothes on and take them. I will talk to you all later Hanna |
Hanna ~ you are not alone... "God of Animals" was one of the selections from my old book club and I couldn't finish it. I'm thinking about starting up a book club here. I miss my old one so much and I've already found several people that are interested. We're tossing around dates and times and I never even considered meeting on a Sunday. Do you always meet on Sundays or was this a make-up date? Best of luck with the IEP!
Time to make lunch for my little buddy and then back to more housework and laundry... |
Hanna, glad you had a good weekend! You deserved it!

Hi All!!!
Missed checking in over the wekend - my son needed my computer for a killer project he needed to do for school. Not sure why my computer is better than his but when it comes to grades I usually don't argue. I hope everyone had a good weekend. And from the posts I am seeing I sure hope everyone has a better week than they had a Monday morning. I was furniture shopping all weekend - tough to do since I live in the middle of nowhere. We had to drive 2 hours and I am still not sure about my new kitchen set (In case anyone missed my post I actually sat on my kitchen chair and broke it.) Oh well something will hit my eye. I wasn't too bad watching my calories this weekend and I did exercise on Saturday. I think I am really determined this time - but then again I have lost weight before and have always gained it back. This is my year!!!! A big Hello to all newcomers!!! |
Hi there! Welcome to April and Shelbysmom!!
Eksta - Thanks about the knees - they still hurt. DH thinks I should go to the doctor becaus they creak...boy, do I feel old about that! Joan - Delta Dawn is about the only nickname I have had. Someone I worked with used to sing it to me when I answered the phone. Dawn isn't a name you do much with besides Dawny. Hope that Monday is shaping up for everyone...if anyone has advice about breaking your chlid of the sippy cup habit, I would be open to suggestions. DS uses his like a pacifier and it is not good for his teeth, speech, etc. We were the only ones at story time (our first day) with a sippy cup and I felt kind of silly. |
furniture
Kelly, At least you have a kitchen chair to break. My kitchen is smaller than my bathroom. I don't have a dining room. My house is 18 feet by 18 feet. I have a no-step kitchen I can reach my fridge, sink, and stove all from the same spot. my kitchen is 6'x9' without cabinets and appliances. My husband was a confirmed bachealor before I came along and stole his heart. He built the house for himself and his dog. There is a nice 10 x 18 loft bedroom though. I have fallen down the stairs a couple of times because they are so steep.
I know what you mean about the middle of nowhere. I have to drive 14 miles if I run out of anything dire. Like toilet paper. Fun in the Artic! |
Hey Gals, I would love to do a book club. I should look around my area for one. I Love to read. Especially if someone is reading with me. Do you take turns meeting at each others houses? Or at a public place?
Ekstatica, your two boys are very cute. Did you ever tell us how you've lost all the weight? Hanna, did you get the third Dog from your friend? Good luck at your meeting today. Glad to hear your weekend went smooth. Pam sorry about your friend, it doesn't sound good. I hope things go well for her and the kids. Kerry, I'm almost finished. Just got the fire place and some touchups. Did you fall asleep during your movie last night? I was up late watching Law & Order:CI, they show reruns on Sun on Bravo and I love that show. Hello everyone else, hello and welcome to all the newbies. Looks like most of us are up to the same today, cleaning and laundry. I have just been doing terribly on my eating and exercising. Today hasn't been so bad yet. I need to get my but in gear. We're having soup and sanwiches for dinner so hopefully I'll do okay tonight. I'm thinking about a treadmill. I know a few of you have one. I would like one I could use in the living room and then fold up and put away. Any suggestions? Well talk later all... Alicia |
Alicia ~ I miss my treadmill:-(. I used to use it religiously but it finally crashed and burned. I want to buy another one so bad but DH thinks that it'd be a waste of money since there are walking paths everywhere around our neighborhood. I love walking outside but the weather isn't always cooperative. I intend to keep working on him about this issue... I don't know anything about the fold up kind. We had a really heavy duty one that lasted us for twelve years (we went thru two belts). I used it for walking and Mike used it for running during icy weather when he couldn't run outside. My Gazelle does fold up and I don't like it for that very reason. It folds up fine but I think that it's hard on the equipment when you do that repeatedly.
Regarding the Book Club. We pick a book to read and then everyone gets together once a month to discuss. My old group was a very diverse group; all different ages and attitudes and I loved it. Made for some very interesting discussions. The hostess provides drinks and maybe a light snack or dessert. Check with your local library as some groups start out thru there. I was waiting to pick up my kids from school last week and started asking a few people around me if they were interested. Three of the moms jumped at it so I'm going to have a meeting here around the first of February for all interested parties. Dangergirl ~ One nice thing about a small house is that you don't have much to clean;-). My old house was 1100 sq. feet and I could clean it from top to bottom within two hours. |
you don't know my husband
Irish Joan:I share this space (486 sq ft) with two dogs and a man. What makes you think I can keep it clean? :) I would literally have to clean the floor 3 times a day, and there are little piles of things every where because there is nowhere to put them. If I move them my husband will frantically look everywhere for something [that has been sitting in the same spot for three months] simply because it isn't there anymore. It's not easy to live with a man who was a bachealor for 20 years.
So I just don't do house work. I cook and do laundry and clean the bathroom. He does the rest. Laundry is a challenge. The Washer and Dryer are in the crawl hoe. My husband dug out (by hand) and area for them, But first I have to lower myself through a hole in the floor, squat walk over to the area, shimmie around the Iron eliminator and balance the basket on the edge of the platform. We are working on an outside access door, But Winter comes early and the ground froze before we could get it dug out all the way. This summer we are putting in a laundry chute, Yay! But I don't think I would trade him for a better place to live. He is So worth all of the challenges of living here. |
Alicia - thanks! I lost my first 70 pounds counting calories, logging everything I ate in a journal, working out DAILY for the first 3 months to establish the habit... and then joining a gym. I had to quit the gym, but I'm still going with the weight loss. About five months ago my mom had her stroke, and I got stressed out. I lost focus and started eating empty calories and quit focusing on the health aspect of it. That's why I went to Weight Watchers. I'd been on it before and knew I'd be striving for those healthy habits, so I switched to WW last week and as of today have lost 6.5 pounds already! Since I have a year of good habits behind me, I knew I could do it this time - no giving up! I feel GREAT! :) The awesome thing is, this time next year, I should be at my first goal. :D I'm pretty excited about it. My favorite thing about losing the weight? Fulfilling a dream I gave up in high school - learning how to RUN. :) I'll be running my first 5K on Memorial Day if all goes as planned.

Hi everyone...another newbie here. I'm not sure how to do the ticker thing but I will look into it....I'm currently at 215# down from 228 but I fell off the wagon for the last 3 months (gained 3 pounds back). Anyway, I have been really trying to lose my baby weight for a long while now and then start on the weight that was there before the baby;)
I don't get a lot of social time out so I hope that I can connect with some great people here! I am a nurse, a mom and that seems to be all I can fit in! It is very hard to give up my best friend bad food, and I think the support will be a good thing. |
evening all...work was good. Nothing crazy..and mostly very pleasant clients today...very rare. Off to the gym in 15 min to work out with my trainer
esk--i may try it..i'm nervous..i've been eating 1700 cal a day. I understand their concept...but definately nervous about not loosing wt. I'll give it try..i need to eat cleaner too..i think i need to give up a lot of processed food. I know whole foods are the way to go..but we'll see. Joan- there is a HUUUUUGE damand for large animal vets. In vet school you learn everything...however toward the end of school you focus on small animal, large animal, or mixed. She'll need to learn it all...but there aren't enough large animal vets out there. So it is something she should think about...she just needs to know she'll have to learn everyothing. hey to all the newbies... hannah - glad you had some time off hey to everyone else. Off to get ready for my butt kicking workout. My pt is trying some new stuff..she's using less weight...but keeping my HR high and never letting it get below 130. SO i'm dying at the end of it...but its all for the greater good LOL |
Heyyyy every1!!! Well guess what??? I broke my plateau today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! MAN oh man am I THRILLED! (sorry just a tad excited over here) Woo-hooooooo!!! :doing the toyota jump: finally over that hump!!! Okay, I'm taking a deep breath over here. James was totally not cool last night; he snored like crazy and kept me up til 1am! Ack. so I'm like, SO sleepy. Can't believe it's only 7pm here. Stayed on plan again; my leg still hurts from my fall, so no miles for me; I might get it checked out Friday if it's still bothering me then. So Lauren that's 10 solid ones for me. Had a good day otherwise, almost called in to work, I was so tired, but decided to go ahead and grace them with my presence LOL. And I was rewarded by an easy day, so yeahhh for me. Corey brought home 1 C and 6 A's and B's on his report card yippee. Hey it's better than the 4 F's and other crappy grades he got last time. So he's improving his grades. It's about time!
Okay okay enough about me....let's talk about YOU! : Gator: how'd the butt kicking workout go? do tell! :D Dawn: Excellent job on sticking to your plan!!! Oh and um, not everyone may agree, but what worked for me was using that nail biter stuff LMAO! Boy Hailey wanted NOTHING to do with her pee-pie hahaha. With Corey, I used a mix of vinegar and jalapeno juice EEK! It worked though. Just a drop don't overdo it. :D Trish: SO sorry you had a rough time. I hope your evening was better! :D scrappin: :woooooosh woooooshhhh: <----blowing willpower dust* I agree with you girl, the coach totally should have considered that, especially being so short of shirts...wonder why so short anyway? I know you'll say the right thing. :D And great job at the gym- one step at a time! Ek: hey you can still burn cals doing housework so have fun with it! (okay maybe it's not all that exciting but might put a good spin on it!) :D April: Welcome and a major "WOO-HOO" for your 5 lb triumph! That is amazing!!!! Congratulations, and so happy to have ya here with us! :carrot: shelbysmom: And a big "HOWDY" to you too (okay that was a little too Texan eh?) Of course you are welcome here - looking forward to getting to know ya! :carrot: Lauren: AWWWW big hugs to you!!! what happened dear? Oh and 10 miles for me last week :carrot: ah wait a sec, already told ya LOL :hears wind between the ears: Joan: Well at least ya got your feast-binge-treat-slipup outta the way, right? Man I'd probably have a sugar surge if I dove into all that now hahaha. Think + thoughts - and don't sweat it! :D Diana: How was your day - I hope better than expected :D Me: Hi me! LOL! Hafta read that blog sometime, I've been neglecting mine....they went from a mile long to like, an inch ;) Pam: Hiya girlie! Well here's wishing snow for you (or no?) :D Hope you had a good day!!! Danger: Good going, walk off that stress, let that concrete have it! :P Did it work LOL? Hanna: how'd the meeting go? :D Kelly: You got that right - this is YOUR year to do it!!! No looking back! Great encouragement for us all - thanks!!! Alicia: Well my treadmill is electric and it does fold up but it's not like, movable LOL, okay it is a little bit. I used to have a manual and I hated it. got mine from wal mart for about $200. 'Course I can't use it now cause my back can't take it, but some day.... Supah: And a big welcome to you too girl! So happy you're here with us! Ahhhhh...fingers are happy to be coming to a crawl now. :D Sorry for so general, as you know I'm still gettin to know ya. I'll get better I promise! :D Take care everybody!!!!!! |
Hello all,
I had a short day at work today. We inventoried the stock rooms today and it went quicker than anticipated. I did find out that I have to have yet another interview with another manager. Luckily the gentleman has his office in our store (the district manager). So hopefully I will have my interview within the next few days and know shortly after that. I am really tired of being jerked around. I rented the movie "Wild Hogs" from the library. Oh my goodness, I haven't laughed so hard in quite a while. I highly recommed it, if you are looking for something to watch. My stomach actually hurts now. Lisa |
