Snow? Yeah, tell me about it!
Hi all from Alaska. Snowing here too... for about the next month. But our days are growing longer. We currently have about 6 hours of daylight and about a half hour of twilight. By June we will have about 22hours of daylight and about 2 hours of twilight between sunset and sunrise. I imagine that will be when I really start to drop some weight. In the summer it is hard to stop when there is still daylight to play in. It is hard to lose in the winter. If one spends any amount of time outside in the extreme cold, the body tries to protect itself by packing on fat. My house is verry small, so not alot of room to exercise. I am going to get a tread mill this weekend, but I have to put it in my barn as I do not have room in my house.
I got good news yesterday... my husband has agreed to join me on my diet. Now I don't have to cook separate meals! Yay! He is lucky though. There is an employee gym where he works. How nice huh? Well, I am glad to hear you are all doing so well with your will power. I am not sure I am doing this diet thing right. I don't feel hungry, and when I eat the desserts on the plan, I feel like I am cheating. I must be doing something wrong. I have found my cheesecake replacement. I can't beleive how easy it was. 2 cups low fat or fat free ricotta cheese, one box sugar free fat free jello pudding (any flavor). Mix with the hand mixer and refridgerate 1 hour. serving size 1/4 cup. MMMMM! The ricotta desserts are in the southbeach phase 1 menu. I figured a little tweak couldn't hurt much. I think it adds like 25 calories. So I think that's 11 carbs and 85 calories. and I don't feel deprived. Any one else have any tricks for feeling less deprived and more like they're cheating? |
I tried posting earlier, I don't know what happened oh well... I think it was 3fc cause I had no problems w/the other sites. Anyways....
Joan Happy Birthday to your little one. Is it Annie, or is that your older daughter. I wish my kids were closer to their granparents. It's nice of your mil to take her out. Don't get me wrong, mom and mil are fine ladies... Have a great birthday weekend! Pam, did you find out what was wrong w/your dog last week? I forget what all else I had wrote. Hello fighting, Trish, Lauren, Dawn, Kerry, Hanna, Jasmine anyone else I am forgetting. To all the Newbies WELCOME!!!! Sorry about the snow. Turned out to be a beautiful day here, near 70. Son had a "wonderful, wonderful" day at school. Thank GOD! Have a GREAT weekend all! Alicia |
Oh, Alicia, I'm so glad about your son...it's so upsetting when our kids aren't happy at school for whatever reason. I'm so glad you talked to the teacher, it seems to have helped!! Oh, and Daisy (pup) is fine. I think it was like Patricia said...the day after I got her anal glands done she was fine. Never had to take her to the doc. Thanks for asking!!!
Joan, your daughter is 5? Cadence will be 5 in March...having a Hannah Montana party at home. Lots of planning, should be fun, and not too costly! I hope she had a good time, and that you had fun at Kohls...I haven't been there since before Christmas...idk how much money I've saved by staying away!! Danger, I don't thinkI could stand only 6 hours of daylight!! Although, 22 might be too much!! Congrats on your treadmill, hope you love it!! Hey to everyone else!! Cakes are done, boxed, and ready to be delivered tomorrow, and I am sitting here drinking my 2nd beer. TOM came today, and I have been so b***chy the last few days, between that & all the baking, so I'm relaxing & having a few beers. YAY ME!! Gonna go watch a little news...I'm with Joan, I'm hooked on politics lately. I get revved up around election time, and there's one candidate I'm particularly interested in. Hopefully he'll still be around when Iget to vote (not until April!!!grrr!!). Hope everyone has a super night!! Pam |
Hi All!!!
Just wanted tocheck in real quick - been a hectic day!! But like most of you I am looking forward to a good sleep in tomorrow. My 6 year old son Nick has a friend over and he just got a pair of play handcuffs stuck on his ankle. OH BOY!!! Mom to the rescue. They are so cute. I also have a 13 year old son Billy. I think because of the age difference I really appreciate how little 6 can be and how sweet and innocent. I will try to check in over the weekend but if I can't i hope everyone has a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend!!!! Take care all. |
Hi all, this is my first chat so I hope I don't leave anyone out LOL...yes I am the lucky one that has a whole day's worth of posts to try and figure out hahaha. Definitely help with the "getting to know ya" thing yeah? :D
Okay I'll start with me...had a good day, first day really doing marketing so I am psyched. I was soooo sleepy all day today, so I got a Redline Princess and drank the whole thing. (one serving is half the bottle so Holli is w-i-r-e-d tonite!) Went to pick up Hailey girl, the 7 yr version of me, and she's happy about being here. Looking forward to doing my two new Leslie tapes yippee...they came in today :D I've been angelically good still, 5 days and counting hooray! And a 3-1/2 lb loss this week so far to boot - another hooray!!! Yep that's it for me... Patricia: very cool you have the day off tomorrow; I know you will spend it wisely doing only things you enjoy :D the good Lord knows I soak up any days off I have LOL Lisa: Hope you had a good day at work? TGIF!!! Pam: Well we all run outta time sometimes :) How awesome that you are a baker! I have always wanted to do that...but had no clue how. I love to cook. I think I will research that some more :D Dawn: Wow a meat sale - that is too awesome! I'm new to Spring, but I heard a local meat market has good deals - you have inspired me to check it out :D what all do ya have planned this weekend? ekstatikia: Sorry girl don't know your name cause it's not in your siggy, but I said a prayer for you; I feel your pain. TOM reeks havoc on my mom's migraines so yeah my heart goes out to ya. I hope you are feeling some relief by now :D Jasmine: How neat - a bridal shower! Are you gonna be in the wedding too? do tell! Being engaged myself, hearing anything about weddings or ideas for weddings and receptions is totally my thing :D Lauren: I hear you on the boss thing... I used to have a wretched boss that I swore was Satan's sister yeesh. I totally will keep you in my prayers. I know for me it was such a nightmare, but prayer really did deliver me from that situation...although it took a lot longer than I would have liked ;) Diana: I will also pray for your migraines; my mom doesn't get hers as often anymore (used to be 4 times a week or even 5). And how sweet of your dh! I know the not cleaning can be frustrating; i have to catch myself with James on the r-a-r-e times he cooks (poor thing ruins cereal). Or better yet, maybe next time you can offer to help him clean up that night, make it a twosome :D Kerry: Three cheers for you! How great that you have stayed on plan! :D Joan: I'm an evening walker too! I just love living less than 10 mins from my job and being able to sleep in til 8am too much to get up early to exercise so I do WATP when I get home from work. but not too late, or it keeps me up late :D And a very happy birthday to your little angel! Trish: you are my IDOL! an hour and a half of exercise? Wow girl you must be so proud of yourself!!! Way to go!!! How in the world do you do it LOL? I really hope to be at your speed someday. I can do two WATP tapes (2 miles and 1 hour) at a time but that's about it. I'm so totally sore the next day but I do it again, and end up being sorer. Looking forward to my endurance building! Jasmin: Yes I am understanding about the amount; I went from eating :gasp: probably like, 4000 cals a day to 1600 as of this past Sunday, so I am majorly going through an adjustment phase. scrappinRN (sorry don't see your name in your siggy either): busy bee! Are you a SAHM? I used to be but sadly had to re-enter the workforce due to money being tight. I so miss those days!!! fightingtolose: yeahhh hooray for sleeping in! I daydream about naps I love them so much but these days I just don't have time for them anymore LOL. I have two kiddos myself, a 13 yr old son :God help me: and a 7 yr old girl. You said you start school - whatcha studying? dangergirl: well for me, I ADORE buying those yoplait whipped chocolate mousse yogurt thingys, and then freezing them! W-o-w is all I can say....sooo good and yummy! But it tastes so sinful! Or I will nuke a sweet potato, and spray a little butter on it (0 cals), and sprinkle cinnamon on top and nutmeg. Then drizzle with a little sugar free honey (yes there is such a thing, I have no idea how they do it but it is so good), and sprinkle on some fat free granola. Lastly, dress your "pie" with some fat free whipped topping. So divine!!!! And tastes like heaven. Alicia: So tell us about your son's day! what awesome things happened? Kelly: I have the same thing with my 7 yr old and 13 yr old, but boy they sure can bicker. Holy mackerel. Hailey is a little doll, and Corey...well.....Corey is a big ball of hormones right now LOL. So not looking forward to Hailey getting to be that age, I think I will need to buy a big stick to chase those boys away! :D Whew........and for anyone else I am forgetting, hello!!! I am really looking forward to getting to know all of you better, and happy to be here!!!! |
evening all..well today was good...busy but not INSANE. Today was a good day. We interviewed two more people for the front staff...they both are great. Older ladies who've done their thing and now just want a job they love and they love animals. I think they both have enormous potential. So that makes me happy and positive. i ate ok..but not the best. I need to really focus. I'm still trying to figure out if i need more or less food but i'll figure it out.
pam - glad to hear it was just anal glands..amazing isn't it LOL joan- glad to hear you are getting out with the ladies...i really wish i had a girlfriend her in atlanta...still haven't met anyone yet. Its so nice there...spent a few weeks up there..really enjoyed it..where in alaska are ou. alright...hey to everyone else that i'm probably missing...sorry tired and fading fast lol. night all..tomorrow..getting up taking the dog and dh to the mountain for a short hike...going to ride the pony...and then dh and i are going to look at an area in atl called virginia highlands where there's lots of craftsman style houses for ideas for our house..then meeting friends for pizza sat pm. bye all. |
Hey everybody!
Glad to see so many people on today, I love reading everyones posts and seeing how everyone gets through their day. Had a decent day, ate okay not great, Sweetie wanted Mexican for lunch soooooo had a tamale lunch plate which kept my portions smaller than usual but still not the best food to eat. Only boo-boo of the day though so I'm not gonna sweat it too much tonight. Didn't get the workout that I wanted today but I still worked out for an hour between the treadmill and crunches and pushups and squats. GG, so glad to hear you're getting a day off. All work and no play makes GG a dull girl. TX, I get a little carried away sometimes on my workouts, especially if I have the house to myself for a while, almost like I gotta use every second I have to max. My backside was a little sore today cause I spent half that time on the treadmill yesterday on an incline. I kept it flat today. Danger, I would love to visit Alaska! Love, love, love it! Honey doesn't necessarily like cold weather vacation spots, suits me though. Only problem is I refuse to get in an airplane. Glowing, tell me about it I have a 17, 16, 15, 7, & 4 yr olds and all that I went through with the older ones and thought was so frustrating I kind of blow off with the younger ones as no biggy. The youngest is absolutely my ray of sunshine. Rooster, you feeling better yet? Diana, glad to hear you're getting some go back, maybe a few more days and you'll be good as new. I'm up late and need to get in the sack I have a full day ahead. I have to be at the church early for singing practice and then off to a game, then to another game, then yet another game, plus have to shop for two parties on Sun. that I forgot about that are right after church. So hopefully I will be able to eat somewhat decent and get my workout in. I really need a recumbent bike. All this walking/running on the treadmill is making my back go crazy, I need something to take the pressure off of it a couple days a week. I told DH I needed one but his not taking my not so subtle hints, like sales ads on his side of the bed, like I had hoped he would. I'm seeing a new LCD screen tv in his eyes lately, gonna have to fix that one, got too many tv's now. Guys and tv's whats the deal? Catch ya later! |
CC, I was in walmart and was watching one of those tv's they're really kinda amazing, so I'm thinking maybe this year, a new one for the bedroom. Have fun at all those games!
Glowing, I have a 9 and almost 13yr old and they also are at it all the time. Lauren, I forgot, your little guy has a birthday too...Happy Birthday! What is he "into". My nephew turned 2 today and he is into Little Einstein. I had never heard of them before. I wound up getting him LE pj's this year for Christmas. Holli, hello! I lived in TX for 4 yrs. ALL my inlaws are there. DS had a good day because he is adjusting to a new school, which has been difficult for him. I guess its officially Sat. I am drinking coffee and cleaning the living room. I have lost all my motivation I had on Monday. Hope I will find it again. Talk later |
Hey Lois Lane LOL! That's very cool - nice to have another night owl. :) Coffee is sounding really good right about now... :D
