I've been BUSY this morning!! Just finished eating some of that deer chili (probably 1 or 1 1/2 cup). Deer meat is very low fat, so I'm feeling pretty good about what I ate for lunch. Just hope it lasts me....I'm not wanting to eat anything else til supper..HA! Right...I'm doubting that will happen. Guess we'll see.
I've taken down Christmas (for the most part), done two loads of laundry, vacuumed my living room, fed daughter...I'm sure more stuff. Gonna paint if my DD will take a nap for me. I gave her cold medicine with Benadryl in it a while ago (she really is sick! I'm not just giving it to her hoping for a nap! lol) and she's not even acting tired in the least. Benadryl doesn't seem to really make her sleepy...although, I may not be giving her enough...the dosage chart just says, "Under 6 ask a doctor" and she's 3. Dosage for 6 yr old is 2 tsp. I gave her about 3/4 tsp. I know, I should just call the pharmacy and ask them. LOL Well, I'm off to find something else to keep me busy...shouldn't be hard to do! :) |
Kerry, We've started tracking our exercise this week. Keep track of actual miles walked/job/run, or count each 20 minutes as 1 mile. On Sunday, come post your total for the week. I'll tally everyone's totals up and post them on Monday.
If you guys prefer tracking Sun-Sat, that's fine too, just lemme know and I'll post totals on Sunday AM. |
Hi All!!!
Its a Monday - (YEAH). Everyone seems so upbeat and positive today!!!! Just the motivation I needed thanks to all!! I agree with you scrappin we need to take it one day at a time. Can I get in on the Val. Day challenge of losing 10 pounds??? Good luck to all today Exercise and eat well. By the way I am proud of myself (a little gloating please forgive me) my family wanted to stop at McD's and I held to my guns and we all came home and had a healthy lunch. Saved money in the process - that was nice too. I felt tired all weekend not sure why but I am thinking it is lack of caffeine ( I drink alot of soda). But this morning I actually feel better. Maybe sounds crazy after only a few days of watching what I eat and exercising but I do feel better. |
Good afternoon from a newbie 30 something :strong: I just thought I would pop in and say Hi and all that jazz. today is the start of my second week, I am calorie counting, and finding it quite easy so far (thank goodness) and my mother in law (who does not know I am on a low cal regimen) stopped by with a rocky road chocolate pudding cake! she left it here last night and now it taunts me in the kitchen! lol . I am finding lots of great info and support on this site so far and look forward to watching everyones progress along with mine thanks! :)
As Ever Me |
Hi Botzz! Welcome...sorry to hear about the dessert calling your name. I have people who know I am trying to eat better offering me stuff, too!
Pam- re: the stability ball. I saw a show on FitTv where they used it for cardio, so I just do some of that. Basically, I sit on the ball and bounce, march and do jumping jacks. You wouldn't think it would do much, but it is good cardio. Hope this makes sense. More later! Dawn |
Afternoon Everyone!
I've been a busy girl today, wanted to hop in this morning and say hi but time just got away from me. I use a journal for my meals and exercise and I also write down how I felt that day, like if I felt yucky or really energetic that way I can go back and see what foods I was eating and what my activity level was. I do try to plan a day or two in advance but the plan doesn't always pan out, with 5 kids sometimes I find myself running a few different directions and my planned dinner has to be changed to something quick and easy. I should probably keep track of how much sleep I get too, sometimes I think if I don't sleep enough that makes me overly hungry the next day, maybe its due to stress from lack of sleep hmmmmmmmm. Alicia, what kind of puppies do you have? I love dogs, when my kids are all gone I'd like to have more but by then I'll be so old I'll be the one peeing on the floor, not a good example to set for puppies. Hey Scrappin, don't beat yourself up, we all fall off the wagon and have to jump back in now and again. It's not what you do some of the time but what you do most of the time, right. I'm new too and I can see just in this past week how this is going to help me stay on the wagon. Good Luck! Glowing, tell me about the caffeine thing, I'm trying to do a 10 day cleanse and you are supposed to cut out the caffeine. Heaven help me! I went for 3 days and had the most unimaginable headache, so off to wal-mart to get some decaf to mix with the leaded. So I'm having 1 cup a day of half and half, that is helping, would have never thought I would have been such an addict. Got to go, houseworks calling. Trish |
Hello Friends:
Glad to see that everyone is getting their exercise in. I planned on getting some in once I dropped the twins off at school but they were sick and stayed home. I have just been sitting here on the computer for the last three hours while my *** spreads even more...lol. Hoping to have some exercise to log tomorrow. I am thinking about starting up a little business on the side for extra money. It will be making favors for baby showers, bridal showers etc. I don't know I am still playing around with the idea. Right now I am making favors for my sisters shower which is this weekend and some things for my brothers birthday (which may be to risque to share here but I will email to anyone who wants to see). I am going to share when I am done and hopefully you guys can tell me what you think. pmaci... just found out this morning my son is seeing Dr. Cohen we go to CHOP on Friday morning. |
Trish,
I am really a bad pop drinker!!!! I love Diet Pepsi. My problem is that Diet Pepsi is all I drink no milk, no water, nothing else. I fully admit I have a problem. My husband, and my children worry way too much about me - I never paid too much attention as long as it was only affecting me. Then over the Holiday break from school my 6 year old wanted a pop for breakfast - I was floored , No Way I said that isn't healthy. Well you can imagine his response But Mom you have one every day for breakfast!!! That one hit me hard so I decided the best way for me to do it was to go cold turkey. The headaches were the worst I have ever had-and lets face it I was more than a little grouchy. But the headaches lasted about 3 days. Believe it or not but Gatorade actually helped. Now I feel much better although I may still be a bit grouchy(LOL). But the health benefits are great - now for breakfast I drink milk, and lots of water throughout the day. I really feel different. Not to say I don't still want my DP because I do but I know that I can't have just one bottle, I will never stop at that, I would have to have a six pack. ( maybe there is an AA for people like me) all joking aside. I really feel like caffeine is addicting. |
Hey all,
Glowing~ You're probably also having withdrawal from the sodium too, not to mention what the artificial sweetener does to you. You ahould be soooo proud of yourself. I have a friend who has been drinking DP for 20 years, she stops at Mcdonald's drive=thru in the am before work to get one, and goes all day long. It's ruined her teeth, and she's convinced that it contributed to her breast cancer two years ago, yet she continues to drink it. That's how much of an addict she is...so you should be really congratulated on kicking it!! Tamia, good luck at CHOP. keep us posted on the progress. Also, what kind of favors do you make?? I'm in the middle of amking cookie favors for a baby shower this weekend. DD~thanks for the info. I'll check out the fittv & give it a whirl... Diana~when Cadence was 3 the pharmacist told me 3/4 tsp of benadryl, so I think you're probably about right. Hope she takes it easy for you. Good job getting some work done, I'm in the middle of laundry too. Hey Trish...happy monday!! Welcome Botzz!! Off to work again!! Pam |
Kelly, GOOD FOR YOU giving up the DP!! :cheer: Isn't it sad when our children have to point out our bad habits?! And good job passing up :mcd: too!
Tamia, if anyone wants to see the favors, have them PM you, that way you're not giving out your e/m address! Trish, GL giving up the caffeine! I have yet to figure out the benefit of it, so I will continue with my addiction! Botzz, :welcome: Looks like you're doing a great job soo far on your blog! Can you send the goodies to work with DW, or bring it with you to get rid of it?! |

again thanks for all the warm welcomes! As Ever Me |
Pam - one quick thing about the show on Fittv - it is called All Star Workouts, but they have stability guy on only once a month. I usually check their schedule to see when he will be on - I think his name is Patrick. I do like a lot of their other workouts - it is something different every day with a different trainer.
It sounds like everyone else has been busy today - I haven't accomplished much with DH being home sick. Need to keep things quiet so that he can sleep. |
Lauren, the Mon thru Sun is good. Since we're already on that path.
Glowing, good for you. It is very hard to give up stuff like that. Haven't given it up myself. I do drink more water though. Trish, I have 2 shih tzu's (the pups) and a sweet ole' mutt. The dog who followed me home, it was like he knew where I lived, went up my driveway before I got to it. I think he's a stray, he had no tags. He's gone now. I don't know if you guys remember a few months back DS fell and hurt his knee? Well I had to write the ins co a letter explaining what happened. (So that it was understood there was no 3rd party involved) Now we are getting a letter from a lawyer for an explanation. I am just frustrated w/that ins co. It was very simple, he feel and hurt his knee, no fault of anyone.... I've done good today eating, now just wish me luck for dinner, lol. |
Hello all, I am back from work and had to read through all the posts. :welcome3: to those that joined today ~ or those I've forgotten. Kerry, welcome back! We will be watching the game tonight too! GO BUCKS!!
Alicia, We have 3 windows for ventalation and one of them was open all the way!! Not good ~ so I closed it and the basement started warming right up. As for the temp today ~ mid 60's ~ we set a record high. Not to worry though, by the weekend it will be snowing again. Okay today at work ~ for the first 4 hours I busted my butt toatting, lifting and breaking a sweat, so I am thinking 12 miles for me today ~ not including the balance ball. I forgot who asked about what type of ball I have, but in response to your question - I don't know. I got it at Wal-Mart. I do sit and bounce along with arobic workouts. As for calorie intake today I am at 820, but I haven't even had dinner yet. I think I will try to keep it between 1200 and 1500 per day. Lisa |
I'm back again! I promise I really have been doing a lot besides surfing 3FC today! lol It just really motivates me to come read what everyone else writes, so I may visit several times a day. :) I just ate some spinach dip (fat free except for the light sour cream) and some fat free chips. Didn't eat a lot, but was getting hungry...decided to nip it in the bud before it got outta control. I ate a little and am satisfied. :yay:
Well, I got close to finishing priming the room I'm painting and ran out of masking tape. :( Went to store to get storage bins for my Christmas decorations...intended to get tape, but forgot. It's just right up the road from my house, but would have to load kids back up....just not worth it. Will wait til hubby gets home. I can work on putting up the decorations for now...although I'm really motivated to paint. Would I be crazy to leave my 2 yr old daughter home with my 9 yr old son for 10 minutes?? (That was a question not really seeking an answer...I couldn't leave them home alone...the 9 yr old, yes...but not with the 2 yr old!) Well, I'm off....to what is yet to be determined. So much to choose from...so little time! |
