Default 30 Something's October Challenge

So, I have been encouraged to start this, so here goes. My goal is to lose 9 lbs in October. I am going to continue eating around 1200 calories per day and exercising 6 days a week for 50 mins. Anyone else wanna dive in and match me?

I'M in!!!!!

I will match your 9 pound weight loss for October and will try to exercise 6 days a week...The most I have been able to manage has been 4 days a week due to work and family obligations but I will most certainly try!!!!

Do we keep a daily, weekly count of our progress or would you like to wait until October 31st?

I think this is great! Off to the races....

OKAY!!!!!

I did 30 mins Yoga Buns Denise Austin (really hate her perkiness but this really works my butt)

and 30 mins exercise bike

Eating went well. I am at 1129 for calories and think that will be it for today.

Still have my TOM so I should see a loss on Friday (weigh day)

Ok, girls... I'm in. Just got back from my evening walk and feel really motivated.
Laurie ~ I think that it was you that mentioned the 70%diet/30%exercise statistic? Anyhoo, I'm sure that is true, but for me excercise is *crucial.* I've done diets in the past and I just don't want to go down that road again. I lose weight, gain it back, lose weight, yada, yada, yada. These days I'm just trying to be more physically active and be more conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth. Some days are better than others. So, my goal for the month of October is to lose 5 pounds. I walk 2+ miles most days and will continue to do that at least 5 days a week. Best of luck to everyone!!!

I have been slack on posting but a little update...I exercised last night, ran 5 miles feeling very good about myself...My eating has been VERY good, even though there are TONS of baked goods and candy bars floating around every corner of the office!!! the office ordered pizza, from my FAVORITE pizza place the other day...I sat back ate my salad and enjoyed every healthy bite of it

Way to go on Laurie on your weight loss! I love having mini goals to work on...makes the long haul not seem so far away...

Joan - SOOO glad you are joining us!!! I always find a little exercise motivates me too...Exercixe is crucial for me as well...I can eat next to nothing, expect to see a good result on the scale and I get nothing...I don't know if my body just stores things like crazy but in order for me to keep up a consistent weight loss, I have to exercise...Again, glad you are joining!!!!

As of this morning I am down 1.5 from the October start weight...

Good luck ladies!!!!!!

Morning Girls,

I did good yesterday with food and exercise *until* last night. Enjoyed wine, cheese and apples with my hubby. I have no idea what my weight is right now as I try not to weigh myself more than once a week.

Laurie ~ you're doing so well. Keep up the good work!!! I so admire your dedication right now to getting in better shape.

babyweight ~ Way to Go! I've forgotten how hard it was to lose weight when working in an office filled with junkfood! Isn't it a powerful feeling to not indulge yourself? Besides, so often I ate out of habit. It really does become a "treat" when you don't have it that often.

Hubby works from home on Wednesdays so I'm off for a long walk all by myself.
