Question Food Scale

Is this an item that I'm really going to be needing? If so is there a certain kind I should get...like a digital one or just one of the cheaper ones?

I am trying to gather up all of the goodies that I will be needing and recalled hearing something about this but not quite sure if it was a need to have or not.

Thanks ~

For me, a scale is a necessity and I use a digital scale.

I have a scale (I prefer digital - less room for error), but I have almost never used it since my surgery. I used it back when I was counting calories, but I don't do that anymore.

It really depends on how you are going to go about your post surgery diet. If you plan on tracking your food intake (which helps you keep track of your protein intake, amount of water you drank, etc.) you may want a scale to weigh portions. Typically though, you are going to just need to play it by ear and see what fills you up. Each food will be different. 1 oz of meat and 1 oz of grain are going to fill you very differently, no matter what a food scale says.

i use a digital now and again to make sure i'm not developing portion distortion and now I do it since early out from WLS we have to eat based exactly on what the doctor tells us.

Maybe I will rethink this one.
I do have portion control issues.....maybe this would be helpful for post surgery.
thanks for the input~

our eyes are bigger than our stomachs. you will be amazed at one ounce of creamed spinach is.... a tablespoon is nothing to what we are used to...

I think a good set of measuring cups measuring spoons and a scale are mandatory for success.

Thanks for the great idea. I never would have thought about measuring cups and such!
