Along with this, I think it's a fab idea to check out the menu before you go as much as you can. I do that so I don't get there and get surprised by something on the menu that I start craving, and make bad choices. You can also often check out the nutrition and make better choices that way.
Did that just last night with help from a friend...I wanted to escape the house and grab a bit to eat, but I wanted to think it out first. I mentioned Panda Express and he showed me a page from eatthisnotthat. It was hard since I wanted Kung Pao and Orange chicken (both bad menu options and favorites), but overall, I was just craving Chinese food period. So I went with the lighter menu options mentioned of Broccoli Beef and Mushroom Chicken, and did half lo mein and half veggies, etc.

I definitely agree with that! Whenever I know I'm headed to a particular restaurant I make sure I do my homework and plan ahead.

Ooh, their orange chicken is an old favorite of mine, so much so that I haven't even visited the place since I've started eating better. It really wouldn't hurt me to look into their healthier options though, now that I think about it.
I ALWAYS check out a menu before I even decide where we are going to eat. My DH doesn't quite get that and likes to go to new places. I explained its hard for me still to know sometimes so I like to be prepared!
