Unhappy Ouch!!

I am visiting my parents for the next several days. My mom and I were out of town all day so I didn't get to go run until this evening. Where I normally run, I have completely smooth sidewalks or I run in the road which has no cracks, bumps, unevenness. Well, were my parents live, the side walks are older, several are uneven (it's an old tourist town, supposedly adds to the "charm"). It was dark and I was less than 2 minutes from there house when I caught my toe on the uneven pavement and fell. I now have two very bruised, bloody knees that don't really bend, scrapped up hands, and some kid on a bike almost ran me over because he didn't see me. Of course, I'm on the ground trying to collect my thoughts, my first thought was "Oh, I hope I didn't rip my new running pants!" Fortunately, unlike my knees, the running pants where fine, now I just hope my knees are all better for a 12 miles hike I have on Sunday. I think I might have to add knee pads and hand pads to my running garb or learn to watch where I'm going a little better.

Ouch! Ice your knees, I know that helped me! I fell really bad 2 days before a 10km run, and with ice, rest and ibuprofen I was fine! Hope you feel better soon! Sometimes in life wouldn't it be nice to have a fashionable bubble suit?

Oh ouch, my knees hurt just reading that! I hope you are feeling better by tomarrow for your hike, I'm sure you are good and sore today. Remember a fall can jar things you don't even realize so pay attention to your back and neck today to make sure something isn't knocked out of place.

Adults just aren't build to fall, we are too far away from the ground. My knees look terrible today, both are swollen and sting, but definitely should be better for hiking tomorrow. I'm going whether they are ready or not, because the fall leaves are at peak this weekend and I was really excited about the number of calories a 12-mile strenuous hike would burn. I figure we can scale it back a bit if needed, but I am going hiking.

I was recently tripped by an uneven sidewalk and skinned both knees too. Running would have been worse though. I really empathise.
