I did a 25-mile charity bike ride!
I cannot believe I actually did it!
DH and I signed up for a children's literacy charity bike ride which took place this morning. It had the option of doing 10, 25, 40 or 66 routes. Since we have biked 10-15 miles at a stretch before, we wanted to push ourselves a little bit, so we chose the 25 mile option. (not crazy enough to try more than that!)
As the day approached our excitement intermingled with a bit of nervousness, wondering if we'd be able to do it.
Well, yes, we could! There were several hills on the route and even though I crawled up some of them, I didn't have to get off my bike once. I am so very proud of myself and DH and just had to share.
Next week we are doing a 10-mile charity bike ride for breast cancer and then the following weekend a 5K. I absolutely love being able to do more physical things and am so looking forward to what I'll be able to do once I have even more weight off my body.
Here's a pic of hubby and I after we finished - it took us about 2 1/2 hours to ride 25 miles.

Thanks, guys! Thankfully we are entering a few months of cooler temps so now is the time we can be outside. The summer is way too hot down here!

What a feeling of accomplishment! Plus just imagine all those calories you burnt off, too! I read somewhere that Lance Armstrong burns like 7000 calories per day. Makes me want to take up cycling

LitChick -
Congrats! I loved bike riding when I was heavier... and getting to see the look on peoples face when the big girl passed them!
I'm up to about 43 miles now for my long rides, but I'm working up being able to do 100 by summer. Whew!
You look great!

Thanks so much! It is quite a great feeling to know that my body is starting to be capable of doing physical things. One of the women at my work made the comment that my husband and I were so athletic. Athletic has never been an adjective used to describe me, but now, slowly but surely, it is!
We ended up biking about 15 miles in about an hour or so yesterday - here is a photo of us after that:
