Default Calories burned by Heart rate

Does anyone know of a way to calculate this somewhat accurately? I really want a HRM with a calorie counter, but don't have the spare $$ for one right now. I do have a HRM watch, but that's all it does. I feel like I am burning more than what it says when I enter in my activity on Fitday.

For example: I walk/jog for 3.5 miles several times a week for 45-50 minutes. Fitday says that burns 260 calories. But I check my heart rate every few minutes and it is always around 160-170. I feel that since my heart rate is staying fairly high, I should be burning more calories.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks!!!

Are you losing? and does it matter that the HR monotor is lower? When I use the eliptical my Bodybugg shows 400 calories in an hour, about 400 when I walk for an hour etc. The eliptical shows 650ish for the same hour. the online calorie calculators show well over 800...so here is my point. if I stick to my food plan (1400 calories a day) and my bodybugg showa 2400 calories or more burned a day I am measuring against the same constant. AND if i happen to be burining more than my BB is reading, all the better...so my advicce is to chose the lower number and work with that because if you are buring more than the number says it only works in your favor.

I am losing, but I want to be more acurate. I'm picky about stuff like that. I don't want the higher number from exerise so I can eat more, but it's more of a mental thing to know I burned more than what Fitday is saying. A motivator of sorts.
