Default Wednesday Warblings

Coffee's on! I get the first cup since I made it.

Here we are on the last day of September already! I think the month just flew! Next thing you know, the holiday season will be here so now's the perfect time to prepare our minds and bodies for the barrage of parties and celebrations. If we stay true to plan, we'll have our cravings under control and can sail through the holidays without any weight gain, and possibly even losing a few pounds.

Wednesdays are my long day at work, but there shouldn't be any humps or hurdles to get over. If there's time when I get home, I'd like to get some work done in the garden and pop in some tulip and daffodil bulbs. I harvested another cutting of chard yesterday, and plan to blanche and freeze it before I head out this morning.

How's your Wednesday looking?

Default Wonderful Wednesday Warblings

Good morning! I think I beat Lexxiss so !!!!!!

It's the last day of the month and I'm still wondering where it went. I am so not ready for winter but will just have to suck it up. I did a bit of fall decorating yesterday which will help get me in gear. As usual I had that two-day "hangover" after my trip but did unpack. I have the bad habit of not unpacking for a few days - seems to make the trip last longer.

Gym this morning, some desk work and then Jazz and I are off to the clinic for pet therapy. He was extra-charming at the nursing home yesterday especially with Bob who won't talk to the nurses but will talk to me when Jazz is on his lap. The meeting last night went well and I am no longer in charge of Country Christmas - six weeks starting November 21! Even the Mayor supported my decision - now I wait to see what else he has planned for me.

Time for another coffee and then I'm off to the gym. Donna wimped out for today but I'm hoping she gets back to it on Friday. I wonder if she went at all when I was away.

Hope your day has just gentle humps - maybe we should call it "Slope Day".

ETA: at Cottage who beat me here! I intend to pick chard today too - even if I need to do it in raincoat and Wellies!

Good morning

Cottage - Good advice for the upcoming food porn season.
Have fun in the garden.

Ruth - I hear you about winter. I'm still feeling cheated out of an actual summer so the longer fall hangs around the better. I was just thinking about my next oil change and realized I have to start thinking tires.
I saw your gym minutes in the exercise thread! Wow, you've really stuck with it this month even with everything going on. Is it starting to help or still a little early for that?

Another transition day at the office today. Meeting with GHK to talk tasks I will need to take care of. Then we are planning a surprise potluck lunch. Our staff morale is so low almost no one can be bothered with potlucks anymore so I made a big pot of broccoli, bean, cheddar soup and a large salad. One coworker is making an apple tart. Sure isn't like the old days when we had more food then we could eat. Then straight on through the afternoon paperwork.

Last night I finally got back into the short day routine and worked out in the evening. I love On Demand Exercise TV because it adds to my options. I've been really off routine lately with some days of hours of exercise followed by multiple days with no exercise. Have to get out of that before winter makes it easy to be a slug!

Time to get breakfast going. Hope your day is bump free.

Good Morning

Hah! You all always make me laugh so early in the morning! Of course, you know by now I'm already up, but decided to occupy myself otherwise and see who would get us started. Cottage, thanks for the coffee-did you miss the cup I swiped while you weren't looking? Ruth, thanks for the extra sunnys I need them! Cyndi, I wish I could come to the potluck.

Me, I have the arduous task today of reworking our budget. With $1000 in vet bills, the necessity of helping DD with snow tires, all the property taxes and an endearing letter from the IRS, this is going to be an interesting month. Fortunately, I'm actually really focused on eating healthy, which means the rest will work itself out.

On a lighter note, I came into good fortune at the farmers market yesterday. Our CSA was selling Anaheim peppers really cheap. We bought 2 huge bags and roasted them last night. The house smells so good. I'm going to peel them this morning and get about freezing them individually. I'm going to pool and stationary bike, see Mom off, then veg out this afternoon. I'm amazed it will be October.

Thanks, Cottage, for reminding us all of the holidays ahead. I am well aware and already thinking and planning. When I resolve my budget I look forward to getting back into the "Fall" mode.

Have a great day everyone!

Cottage - ohh, planting bulbs sounds like a good idea. I remember in the spring she had lots of plants popping up, but I don't know where. I'll have to decide what to do!

Ruth - you HAVE been SO good at the gym! I would love to see Jazz at work! And you're right...where did September go?

Cydni - That soup sounds fabulous! I made a broccoli/cheese/veggie soup, but it's not very filling (it is immediately, but wears off quickly)...I might have to try adding the beans. WHich kind did you use?

Me- work, run, children, maybe spend my Kohl's bucks!! Yesterday was a nice day at work...the cat rescue I spayed for gave me an Olive Garden gift certificate , and the client that I removed tampons from her dog on Friday sent me an edible arrangement...YUM!! I felt loved and appreciated yesterday!! That's always a great way to feel at work!!

Enjoying this fall weather, with soups again!! Out with the salads, in with the soups...YUM!

Have a great day!

Lexiss - anaheim peppers? I'll send my DH to your place .

Debbie - Those peppers sound wonderful. What a find! I'm going to try dehydrating some broccoli for winter soups. I'm not sure how the house will smell but the cabbage wasn't too bad so the broccoli will probably be alright.

Twynn - I use cannelini beans. I thought the recipe was from ours but I can't find it. Will add it later. I like to use half really good sharp cheese and add a few laughing cow wedges to make it creamier. Not POP but a good way to maximize taste while keeping the fat under control IMO.

Off to work I go

Good Morning!

Cottage, Holiday eating... sigh. My dad has already started talking about cornbread dressing. Yum -- in a non-beachy sort of way.

Ruth, You crack me up! Auston and I visited a nursing home not too long ago. My friend who works there told me the man Auston was hugging and talking to had not smiled in weeks because his wife had died. He was smiling at Auston. It made me cry.

Cyndi, My fellow coworkers have requested a pot of seafood gumbo when the weather gets cooler. I told them a pot to feed all us would run about $50! Show me the money!

Debbie, One of my friends gave me a huge bag of jalapeno peppers yesterday. I wonder if they'd be good roasted and frozen?

Me: I'm in Day 1 of a two day Microsoft Excel class today. I hope the instructor is a little entertaining. If not, bring on the coffee and diet coke! It really doesn't sound exciting. I have a list of things to learn for my boss.

My inlaws are coming home today from their week at the beach. MILs chemo starts soon. I'm glad she's starting it all with a little fun.

I better get running. Still in my jammies.

I'm loving this fall weather! But I'm bummed today because the scale is up 4.5 lbs all of a sudden. I KNOW there's no possible way I could have put on 4.5 lbs. I worked out last night and this morning and they say that when you lift weights fluid builds up in the muscle and could cause slight temporary weight gain on the scale. I've never really believed it but today I HAVE to because otherwise I'm just gaining weight for no reason. Either way, I have to be extra good and work out a little longer today, just so I feel better.

Anyway, the last few days I've really been feeling the fall weather and I'm looking forward to the holidays. I'll probably get stressed once they arrive but at the moment I can't wait.

good morning, everyone!

I'm in a much better mood than yesterday. The cold I had is finally dissipating.

Since I worked some for the temp agency last week, my unemployment check today will be quite small.. and the temp agency check won't be in til Friday. So I'm not yet sure if I'm starting SB tomorrow or Monday. I need to buy a scale. ACK! I'm guessing it will be around $30? I want one that is digital and does partial pounds.

We had to turn the heat on this morning.. it got down to 55 in the house last night! While I prefer to sleep cooler... waking up to 55 is a bit chilly. lol

I'm glad I've been coming here before I get started on SB. It is important to be accountable, have a support system and develop a routine. Of course, losing that routine has always been my downfall. The nice thing about SB to me, is that it's something I can do forever. It's not a fad diet, its a way of life. If I slip a day, I just get right back on the wagon and if I don't BUY the crap food, I can't fall off the wagon for long...

Have a great day!

P.S. One of these days I'm gonna get around to commenting on EVERYONE'S posts. I read em, I'm just lazy. lol

Ruth that's so amazing about Jazz. . .Sometimes all you need is somethign to give love and not ask questions!
Cyn thats one of the reasons I want to spring for the Good cable!!! the potluck sounds nice our morale is sketchy too!

Good morning,

Cottage hope you get to get some gardening in today

Ruth way to go with your exercise this morning, it is really paying off on the scale for you.

Cyndi your potluck sounds great, can I come

Debbie I hear you I had to pay my property tax bill this month it went up quite a bit from last year.

Twynn that is so great that they appreciate what you do for them.

Chelby have fun at the excel class.

Tiffany it is more than likely water weight

Gothik hopefully you will be able to start soon you could always just use tape to measure at first.

Kierie you are doing great keep it up.

As for me tonight is DD2 dance class she has a soccer game but it is at the same time can't be at two places at once. Other than nothing else going on. Got in some good exercise last night while watching BL I don't like the competitions and the reward they gave them, not very motivating to watch- if they continue on that track I may stop watching. I like to see bonding and them helping each other out which they did at the end of the show.

Hello Chickies! I am back from vacation and my "healthy lifestyle" was not anywhere to be found while I was on vaca! I am bloated like crazy and I looked like a puffer fish when I woke up this morning! scale says I am up 11 lbs?! uh, what?! I am sure its water after looking at my face but I am fasting today and tomorrow will be back strictly SB! and vegan and gluten free of course! Sure sucks what I put myself through for what- a slice of bread? pasta? good grief! OK, ending my ranting now. AND DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT! isn't it my signature that says....lol.

Laundry and work on the agenda today- hope you ladies have a great day!

Cottage- I am taking your advice and going to gear up for the holiday season now so I am not tempted then!

Ruth- you are doing great sister! Keep it up! you'll be in the 180s in no time!

Cyndi- I can relate to the moral changes in the workplace. I have been gone for 10 days and dread dread dread going back! I used to love my job but the negative energy in that place is so contageous!

Lex- what a find! and whooohooo! you are almost in onederland!

twynn- you should feel that appreciated everyday! go to dinner and spend your bucks! you deserve it!

Chelby- hope your training is interesting and goes quickly!

tiff- keep going, the water will come off...

goth

KO- wtg! that is such a good feeling isn't it!!! hope you get that crockpot going- I need to do that too!

Pearl- hope you have a lovely day!

Back from the store. Got a few groceries and will start tomorrow!

Also bought that scale... *grumble*

I might need some extra encouragement tomorrow morning after I step on it...

Yeah, this one is being obstinate! Thanks for noticing.

Twynn, hope you got your run in. I'm wondering if you have Anaheims in Pa.

Cyndi, I did some broccoli and cauliflower last week. They turned out great, I already tried them in soup.

Chelby, I dried my jalapenos. I don't know about roasting them. They are so small. Hope you didn't OD on DCoke and coffee today. Oh, and I'm not eating cornbread dressing this year.

Tiffany, I can't break into onederland right now. It would be nice, but it really works better for me to eat right and exercise, and not let the scale rule.

Gothik, glad you're feeling better. I'm glad you're here, too. I stay plugged in here, no matter what, and I feel it will guarantee my eventual success, although I'm very much enjoying the journey.

KO, are you Bedazzled or Befrazzled? I really am hoping things calm down for you.

Pearlrose, I'm still rooting for you!

RDW, I hope you start feeling better soon.

See ya'll tomorrow.
