anybody been watching this?? my family is here, I'm starting to see first hand pictures of the devastation. and entire part of the island is isolated and no one knows what their damage is yet. I spent today worrying that I wouldn't hear from my parents and brother - but I'm lucky and they are okay.

I heard about it this morning. I'm happy your family is okay. We had a warning here but it was canceled. Many prayers go out to the many people who are affected by this.
yeah our warning was canceled too. amazing how something so far away can affect you at home!
i found out today the water was like 1/4 of a mile away from my parents house. waay to close for comfort if you ask me!
Yeah, I'm on Honolulu and we were on tsunami watch, I remember. Some people were like "Ooooh maybe they'll cancel school because of the tsunami!" I was like *facepalm* Only a student could make a disaster into something to cheer about.
I do remember we had the whole college shut down for a day once because of high winds last year though... I was like what?
