I think the number of reads goes up exponentially quite naturally. If everyone who posts to the thread comes back to read it as new posts are added, the reads are going to go way up! It doesn't make sense for every one following the thread to respond to every post, so the ratio will never be one to one.
but yesterday I got a TON TON TON of emails about that calorie deficit chart from people I have yet to run across in posts. So yeah, they are out there. It's easier to get support and use this wonderful place to the best of it's potential if people come out and give and get the support we all SO DESPERATELY need at times.
I am embarrassed to ask but where do you see how many times a post has been read? I am sure that it is right under my nose.
to the left---apparently I don't know my left from right. to the RIGHT of the post on the main msg board page where all the threads are listed, it says "posts" and "read" or something like that, tells you how many posts are in a thread and how many views it has (maybe it says 'views'). dunno which one!
I've only posted once, so I believe I am a lurker! I'm Peggy. Have been overweight all my life -- always a struggle, always a monkey on my back. I am now down a little over 30 lbs. and am only 3 pounds from my first goal. I've added another 15 - 20 to that goal, but will feel awesome when I reach the first one.
I am on the Jenny Craig program and have been since late last September. By now I am on mostly my own foods. I think the slow loss has helped me change my lifestyle.
Out of everything I am most proud that I began to run! I can't believe I am now a runner. I've told myself I couldn't run all of my life. Then one night I decided I wanted to be a runner. So I became one. Slow at first -- heck, it's even slow now! But I do run 2 miles nearly every day. I need to start working up to 3 miles, and I know I can do it!
Nice to meet you all. You've inspired me so much!!

Welcome! I have a good 25 lbs prolly or more to lose before I can run, my left knee is wonky and I Need to start taking glucosamine/chondroitin for awhile and then get some money together to get an enell sports bra ( www.enell.com ) and some good running shoes. I can't wait to run though! I just got the idea in my head one day that that was my next big goal was to run. and I will!
Congrats to you for getting there and congrats on the lbs lost, you can do it!
