Default Back and hanging my head in shame..

My boyfriend and I just moved 2500km's across the country, during the whole packing, moving and unpacking I was NOT dieting even slightly. So I am back, reporting an insane gain - 9 pounds!! Which is nearly my entire loss, so I'm back up near my starting weight. I am totally embarrassed! But, I can't dwell for long, and it's time to get back on track... and time to get to the grocery store and stock up on healthy foods!

I have a few challenges ahead of me, so I gotta get strong and ready to deal with them! A few work challenges, including an aggressive employee who loves to challenge everyone! My direct manager, who I spend a lot of time with has a habit of not eating 10 hours a day - who does that! I've already had to plan to spend my breaks away from her, so that I can eat something. Also, there aren't really any farmers markets around here! This is very different from where I used to live, just a few minutes from my house was a bakery, butcher and fruit/veggie market. So more exploring to do! And of course getting my head back into the game!

I am lucky enough to have moved to an area where I can go for walks! I am very pleased with this - my last place wasn't so good for walking, too many bears and other wild animals. Tonight I'm planning to put my ipod on and go for a nice long walk! Can't wait to report off my losses !

And if you have any good tips, I am open to them! I have upped my water intake thanks to someone's tip, of course I'm blanking of who it was from, sorry!

You're right Aimee, dwelling won't do any good. That was a big move and I'm sure it was a struggle to stay on plan. But it's done and you sound like your head is really back in the game -- so good luck exploring your new neighbourhood for healthy options!

Forgive yourself, sort out your plans for dealing with work and with your new life, and get back at it!

But mostly, forgive yourself. Don't be ashamed! You did the best that you could under the circumstances, and weight gain ISN'T permanent.

I am sure we all 'fall off the wagon' at some point or another. I know my goal is to do like you are doing. Forgive myself and start right back at it again.

Keep up the good work and good luck conquering those challenges!

Welcome back!

My best tip? Plan your meals for tomorrow TONIGHT and stick to it tomorrow. Success is built on one little step at a time. You've done this before, you know what to do so JUST DO IT!

I missed you I'm glad you are back!!!

Aimee,

I hear ya! When I moved to Korea, my ideas of foods to eat and exercises to do were just not available... where's the whole grains? Where's the running paths? I gained a little when I first got here because I didn't exercise and I didn't know what to eat.

Eventually, 11 months later, I got it (mostly) figured out. I do a lot of workout videos now (used to hate them) and I've figured out where to find my favorite veggies and started making dishes I didn't even eat in America.

Just give yourself a little time.. you want to make a change that will last.

If its been a short time it may not be as bad as you think. I went through a very stressful period in February and boom nothing fit and I was 224 lbs again. As soon a things calmed down 7 lbs just fell off. The next 6lbs came from just exercising regularly again. Then comes the work, every week I try to tighten up and reign in my food a little more without feeling deprived So hug yourself tight and walk your baby steps and you just might see those 9 lbs melt like magic.
