I fell off the wagon into the baked beans!
Hello everyone, I can not even believe I have to tell this. Since the 4th of July, I have had some baked beans in my fridge. I have had two spoonfuls every evening. Enjoyed that much and was fine. I made the fatal mistake last night to take my container into the living room and sit down on the couch in front of the tv. The next thing I know the whole thing was empty. OMG!! I am so mad at myself and up two pounds of course. It was also interesting, I believe because of the sugar in the sauce on the beans I woke up starving. Well I will just keep going, the good news is the baked beans are gone!

Those darn Fat Pounds had you hypnotized, ScarletMeShell --- they are devious and sneaky and always cheat to win.
I think they made a big mistake this time, though --- now that you are on to their little tricks, you will probably NEVER eat mindlessly like that. Heck! If we are going to eat something a little off plan, we should be totally into enjoying it! Kudos to you for your initial plan of eating just a little every evening. I am sure those extra pounds are already on their way out the door.
Bye-bye, Pounds O'Fat ---- you may have won this minor little skirmish but ScarletMeshell is definitely winning the war!

Those things do happen... the key is to figure out WHY they happened. Maybe you need a plan a nutritious snack for nighttime... or find a way to work the baked beans calories into your meal plan... or maybe you need to NOT HAVE THEM in the house so that way they cannot be a source of temptation for you.
Either way, live and learn. Move on and find a solution

We each have our own temptations. Baked beans was never mine. The good news:
*you know what happened
*you learn from it
*you are moving on and not letting this derail you.
None of us are perfect on this journey because none of us are perfect. We live and learn. Good for you for learning!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. To be honest, it was just mindless eating. Baked beans isn't even one of my trigger foods, but I learned a good lesson.

I did the same thing with watermelon this past weekend. I had been working out in the yard moving rocks and dirt. I came in for my afternoon snack. I grabbed the 8 cup container of cut up watermelon (about 5 cups of watermelon) with the concept that I would eat about half of it. I sat at my computer and next thing I knew, the watermelon was all gone. I figure I was just so thirsty - man did it taste good. The good thing, it was just watermelon and I had the room in the calorie bank.
Mindless eating = bad.
Lesson learnt: always dish out serving rather than trying to save dirting a dish.

I say just get rid of the darned food! We have lots of leftover sweets from a BBQ yesterday and I have told my boyfriend I do not want that stuff in the house.
We have family visiting later in the week, so they may eat some of it, but when they leave -- into the bin with most of it (I'm keeping one bag of cookies)!
Not here, don't have to think about it!

scarletmeshell-
I had to look to see if I had started this topic because I too had the same problem with baked beans! Ate them Saturday and Sunday and then my willpower returned.
The apple pie sitting on the counter doesn't tempt me in the least, but boy do those beans!

*thowing life preserver into baked beans*
Slip-ups happen to the best of us. I didn't have the greatest weekend foodwise either. But I planned my week out, and am back to the same old, same old. In the words of the ever-wise Jimmy Buffett, "Breathe in, breathe out, move on."

Progress not perfection. Reconditioning our nasty old bad habits is a process. Forgiving yourself and problem solving are the way to go...good luck.
