We had a new grocery store open up last week, and I was browsing through the store when I came across someone giving out samples of these. I tried a small bite of one and was pleasantly surprised how yummy it was! I bought a couple. Anyone else try these? What are your thoughts of them? Do you eat them as a snack, in place of a meal, or after a workout to give your body a boost?
Ooh. I loved these in college, and turned to them when I started this weight loss journey. I feel pretty good about Luna bars, considering (I know packaged things like that perhaps aren't popular here). They are so tasty and filling. I am talking about regular luna bars; had two sunrise ones in May and thought they weren't aren't anything special.
I currently eat one every other day as my breakfast (I alternate it with my egg breakfast). I buy them at Trader Joe Joe's for 99 cents each. My favorites are Peanut Butter, Caramel, Toasted Nuts & Cran, Chocolate Nut Brownie.
I like them too! I eat one about 1/2 hour before I run if I run after work to give me a little carb boost. And I think they're 160-180 calories, so I easily burn off the calories. Oh! And they also come in minis, which are half the calories-- I've found mini variety boxes at Target.
Oh, I had the iced oatmeal raisin one once and thought it was the best luna ever. But I bought it on vacation, randomly, and have never seen it before or since. I might order a box of them off the luna site eventually, though. When my husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday last month, I told him a box of iced oatmeal raisin lunas off the website. He treated that like a joke, though! I wasn't kidding!
Love these - so does my family. I wish I could find an alternative for my son to keep with him ("nutrition for women" written on it cramps his style).
They make "Clif Bars" that my trainer likes better since he wouldn't be caught dead eating girl food. I have tried them - more calories but do seem to stay with me longer.
My husband eats luna bars. He asked me to buy him the cliff bars originally, but there's he only likes the Carrot Cake Clif Bars. So I buy luna for both of us.
I like the Luna bars myself, I have a box of the minis in my cabinet for quick snacking. I don't find that they have enough protein for me as a meal replacement, though. I've been doing the Thin Products 'Think Thin' bars instead lately.
They are too carby for me, but I do enjoy them and when I'm traveling and can't guarantee I'll be able to get healthy snacks along the way, Luna bars are one of the things I'll pack. The Peppermint Stick ones are my fave.
