First five pounds!
I lost the first five pounds! I have only been successful at losing weight once(through some unhealthy means) and unfortunately I gained most of it back, but I am DETERMINED to do it this time. I will not let food win! It is so amazing to finally feel successful at losing weight. Although during my study abroad there are no gyms I can afford, I will go running and use resistance bands for toning. Paris is a beautiful place to go running .
So excited for my time studying abroad and my first, albeit tiny, weight loss success! Puts me in such a happy mood! (I hope this post doesn't come across as gloaty...just been trying and failing for 11 years and it feels good).

Oh yeah I feel like now it's much easier! And I'm from Oregon, go to school in Indiana and I'm going for a semester abroad in France but sometimes it does feel abroad

Great job!
I think you'll find it easy to eat healthily in France. They do use real butter, cream, etc., but their portions are realistic, unlike those humongous chain restaurant "portions" that we get in America that could feed a small army!
And I know that you *must* eat at a French McDonald's just to say you did, but only do it once! And have a beer with your Big Mac! (If you drink...don't want to be contributing to the delinquency of a minor here! )

Weirdly enough, I've only eaten American McDonalds once! Although a beer with a hamburger does sound good and a glass of red wine is supposed to be good for your heart(in France you can drink at age 16, so I'm not a minor over there . I have heard from many people on the program that they lose weight while in France due to the smaller portions and the fact that we have to walk everywhere. I'm also planning on doing the bike rentals they have there! Basically I'm super-pumped.

That is a great start! Now you just have to repeat what you have already done.

All right-y. That's one sack of flour gone. Finished. Over with and done. Good job. May there be many, many more pounds to follow. Stick with it - and there will be - that's for certain.

Congrats Peachy!! And kudos for your determination to keep going abroad, even if it might be a little more challenging. That kind of attitude will get you success, as you've already proven.

Congratulations!
France will be a wonderful experience! Be sure to shop at markets--and instead of French "McDonalds" treat yourself to a fabulous pastry and espresso.
