What you want to look at is your average calories across the whole week. This is what is going to matter in the loooooong run. Obviously, you don't want to get into a cycle of binging on the weekend and then starving throughout the week (I know that's not what you are describing, it's just an extreme example).

I know I budget higher calories for the weekends and am therefore very careful during the week days.
